Next to Microsoft’s recent Play Anywhere feature announcement, I suppose mouse and keyboard support for the Xbox One was probably inevitable, aaaaand… here it is, mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One. Not now, mind you, but soon.
“When we enable PC and mouse on console it’ll be interesting to see how many of those creators think about running their PC and mouse-only game on console, and then this idea of Play Anywhere might get even more interesting for those guys,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer told PCGamesN at E3. “I keep talking about [mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One] in the press and my platform team keeps shaking their head, because they… Truthfully in our dev kit modes now keyboard works, mouse support is a little bit further away. I say it because I know it’s not years away, it’s more like months away, but we don’t have an exact date yet.”
As a person of other-right-handedness and victim of perpetual peripheral discrimination, I prefer a controller, and I’m not sure how I’d manage a keyboard and mouse on the couch in between the cats anyway, but hey. It’s something a lot of other people want, so that’s nice.
