We already know that Mass Effect Andromeda is a whole new game with a whole new cast, but we don’t know much else about it, or how it’s connected to the original trilogy. Not yet, anyway, but a series of four novels published by Titan Books will start filling those, uh, black holes before the game is out next year.
“The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga,” a recent update to the company’s catalogue reveals. “They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking.”
The first of the novels, Mass Effect Andromeda: Initiative by N.K. Jemisin, is out in August 2016, with subsequent novels launching in March 2017, September 2017, and March 2018. That last one will be written by Mass Effect creative director Mac Walters.
Mass Effect Andromeda is expected to drop sometime in the first quarter of 2017 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
