Overwatch cover

Quis trolliet ipsos trolles? A recent update in Overwatch‘s public test realm is making fun of people making fun of people… making fun. Of people. Making fun of people. Wait, that’s too many. Anyway, smug winners who type the even smuggier “gg ez” – “good game, easy”, implying that the other players were totally rubbish – at the end of matches have become the real losers, because those messages are being automatically replaced by other, less ego-masturbatory phrases.

According to reports on Eurogamer and PCGamer, some of these subversive compliments include:

“Well played. I salute you all.”

“For glory and honor! Huzzah comrades!”

“Gee whiz! That was fun. Good playing!”

“I’m wrestling with some insecurity issues in my life but thank you all for playing with me.”

“It’s past my bedtime. Please don’t tell my mommy.”

“Mommy says people my age shouldn’t suck their thumbs.”

“I feel very, very small… please hold me…”

“I’m trying to be a nicer person. It’s hard, but I’m trying, guys.”

So, who’s laughing now?
