Some of you may remember when I brought shame upon my face by declaring that I’ve not yet finished any of the Gears games (and was fired for it, then subsequently unfired because I’d picked up the Ultimate Edition). Well, I’ve since finished the first game and am making great progress towards completing the second.

Why am I telling you all this? Well, BECAUSE I LOVE THE GEARS OF WAR FRANCHISE NOW! And If all goes well, I’ll have finished all three of the previous games before Gears of War 4 launches next month, and I’m getting really, really friggin’ amped. On a related note, Microsoft just released the game’s launch trailer, and it turns the amp-o-meter to 11 and a half. So amped, you guys.

“After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy,” reads the video’s description.

The trailer features everything that fans of the series could possibly want. Sweet graphics? Check. Dramatic narration, illusions of safety, intimidating beasties, comradery, robots, guns, and THE COLE TRAIN, BABY [Woo! – Ed]! Double check. Everything set to a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. Bliss.

Gears of War 4 will be headed to XBO and PC on 11 October, but those who choose to invest in Gears of War 4: Ultimate Edition will be able to play it four days earlier on 7 October.
