The Battlefield 1 beta was absolutely fantastic. In fact, it was so phenomenally fun that I never even bothered to fiddle around with its graphics settings (which is usually the first thing I do as a PC enthusiast). But just because my aging PC could seemingly handle the beta fairly smoothly, doesn’t mean the full game will be nearly as forgiving.

According to the game’s recently revealed system requirements, Battlefield 1 is a beast of a game, requiring an equally beastly PC to run it. My system just barely meets the minimum specs. Hit the jump to see how your PC stacks up.

Let’s get right to it and have a look at the game’s minimum specs.

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Hard-drive space: 50GB

These system specs usually serve as more of a guideline rather than a rule, because chances are you won’t need all of the above to actually run the game (other than the 64-bit Windows). But you will need a system that looks fairly similar if you hope to enjoy the stunning visuals Battlefield 1 offers, without sacrificing framerate. Now on to the recommended specs.

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
  • Available Disk Space: 50GB

Now that’s a lot of juice. The game is thoroughly embracing AMD and NVIDIA’s latest batch of cards, but at least the specs aren’t calling for the GTX 1060 6GB version, the 8GB RX 480, or even the GTX 1070 or GTX 1080

Battlefield 1 will be coming to PC, XBO, and PS4 on 21 October. You can pre-order the game on Origin right now starting at a hefty R999.95.
