Shadow Warrior 2 is a thing I forgot is a thing. It’s a thing Emperor Dane assured us is a thing deserving of a fair amount of hype. Now, that thing has officially been made available and has received the launch trailer treatment.
In case you’re unfamiliar with the thing in question, Shadow Warrior 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Flying Wild Hog, and sees players assume the role of Lo Wang, “a reclusive mercenary on the edge of a corrupted world”. I’ll be honest, I have no idea what this game is, or where it came from, but its launch trailer is brilliantly silly, and it’s set to Stan Bush’s The Touch. What more could you ask for?
“The formidable warrior must again wield a devastating combination of guns, blades, magic and wit to strike down the demonic legions overwhelming the world,” reads the video’s description. The video itself actually consists of the game’s opening sequence and seems to set the tone of rest of the game quite nicely. It’s all rather bloody, lighthearted, stylish, and kind of amazing.
According to the description, the game will include “procedurally-generated landscapes,” ensuring that each playthrough is unique, and players will be able to join up with others online in “four-player co-op or go it alone.”
Also, I only just realised the main character’s named Lo Wang. WANG! Wahaha! I’ll show myself out.
