I liked what I saw when I tried out a demo for Resident Evil 7 VR at rAge this year, and I really liked what I saw in this trailer. The game looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to have a go at the demo when it hits PC later this month.

In the meantime though, Capcom has uploaded three brand new gameplay trailers, each showcasing about three minutes of the survival horror game in action. The footage includes slow walking, those hillbillies from American Horror Story: Roanoke, zombie things, hilariously ineffective guns, and some running. It’s also slightly boring. Videos after the jump.

As mentioned earlier, I have high hopes for Resident Evil 7 and its shift towards survival horror, but the latest gameplay trailers have me a little concerned. I mean, I’m all for trailers building suspense and trying to make everything super cinematic, but it kind of makes these next few trailers (and the game itself) seem a little… dull. But maybe that’s just me.

Anyway, here they are along with their very short descriptions.

Trailer 1: “Trying to escape? Don’t make me laugh son…”

Trailer 2: “Think the basement is a safe place? Think again…” Now, I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure no one thinks that.

Trailer 3: “You are a son of a bitch!”

Well, there you have it.

Resident Evil 7 is headed to PC, PS4, and XBO on 24 January and its collector’s edition comes with a house.
