Hold onto your grappling hooks, Pilots. Respawn’s ro-bro blast-o-rama is getting another care package that introduces a new, “lightning fast” Live Fire multiplayer mode and two maps exclusive to that playlist, plus one other new Coliseum map, a new Pilot execution manoeuvre, new Commander intros for each faction, and some interface fixes. No Frontier Defense mode, though, so that sucks, but like all other Titanfall 2 DLC, it’s totally free, so that doesn’t suck so much.
According to the developer’s blog, Live Fire is a 6v6 Pilots-only mode, featuring five rounds of shooty-shooty and no respawns.
“You will have one minute to eliminate the opposing team in order to win the round. You can also win the round if your team is holding the neutral flag when the round timer ends,” community manager Jay Frechette explains. “We’re also introducing two brand new maps designed specifically for Live Fire: Stacks and Meadow. Playable only in the Live Fire playlist, these two maps are tight, enclosed death boxes designed specifically for the fast-paced, intense nature of the mode.”
The new Coliseum map is Columns, although no additional info is provided about that – or the new Pilot execution manoeuvre besides “wait until you see this one”. Ooh.
“We’ve also been working on a significant update to our playlist interface. We agree with much of the feedback that having game modes split between two screens is not an ideal user experience,” he adds. The team is apparently working on a new interface for the next update on consoles, and “possibly” even sooner on PC.
“Our goal is to allow players to create their own ‘mixtapes’ and choose which modes they want to be matched in. Would you like to match in just Attrition, Amped Hardpoint, and Last Titan Standing? Simply select the modes you want and hit play. We’ll talk more about this and more in the coming weeks.”
No dates are confirmed for the moment, but it’s “coming soon” with an announcement about the game’s plans for the future, including remasters of Titanfall maps, and a lot more content.
