We already knew this was a thing that was happening, but now we also know exactly when. According to an update over on the official website, DICE is deploying servers for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in South Africa next week Tuesday, 21 February. Now you can’t blame high pings for your rubbish playing, so blame other people cheating instead.

“The three new datacenters will be based in Johannesburg, Dubai, and Hong Kong, respectively, and will utilise the same type of high performance server hardware as the other regions running Battlefield 1 game servers,” producer Alexander Hassoon explains. “We will keep monitoring latency levels and geographical coverage for the Battlefield franchise and are committed to delivering the best experience for all our players worldwide.”

Now if we could get local servers for, like, all the other games too, that would be nice.
