Back in February, ZeniMax Online announced that The Elder Scrolls Online would be getting a Morrowind expansion that looks all kinds of epic. But before I get too hyped about the expansion, I should probably see whether I like the base game first. Which is what players are able to do for an entire week starting today, so that works out.

The free trial was announced over on the game’s official blog and is slated to run from 11 April (today) through to 18 April. The trial will be available on XBO (XBL Gold membership required), PC (via Steam), and PS4, and will give players access to the full game minus any DLC. You’ll also be given 500 crowns (TESO‘s in-game currency) to spend on “Crown Crates, unique outfits, XP boosts, and more!” As is the norm for these things, any progress made and items purchased will carry over to the full game if you decide to buy.

Speaking of buying, if you want to buy TESO: Tamriel Unlimited, TESO: Gold Edition, as well as Crown Packs during the trial, you’ll be able to do so at a “discounted price.”
