Another month, another free Titanfall 2 DLC drop to make Battlefield 1 (and every other shooter with paid DLC packs) look bad. The game’s next dose of content is called The War Games and will feature two new maps, one of which should look familiar to those who played the first game, and a few other choice additions and tweaks to keep fans more than satisfied.
Respawn once again took to the game’s official blog to give players an idea of what’ll be included in the update, which goes live on 27 June on all platforms.
First off is the colourful simulated city “pod” map featured in the first Titanfall. “War Games highlights the civilian shops, tall buildings for window-to-window fighting, and city streets for Titan combat from the Battle of Angel City, and the large, open tank garage facilities for hand-to-hand Pilot combat from the Battle of Airbase Sierra,” explains the blurb. “The outskirts of the map feature a clean, VR style perfect for Titan duels, while Pilots are often found running along the bright, interconnected wallrunning routes.”
Next is a brand new Live Fire map called Traffic, which is described as a “weathered test site where pilot positioning is pitted against mobility across two busy thoroughfares”, where “dense cover makes every corner a threat, with room for snipers to hide in the back fields”.
Other highlights include a new execution, a third weapon slot for pilots, meaning “you will now be able to equip a primary, secondary, and anti-titan weapon”, the permanent addition of the Titan Brawl mode, and a new featured mode called Free Agents.
Respawn has promised that a trailer for the update will be uploaded “at launch”.
