In a dramatic, unexpected turn of events that not even Detective Phelps could’ve predicted, Rockstar has decided to re-release its 2011 hardboil-’em-up LA Noire for now-gen consoles and VR next month.

The VR version of the game features only seven of the original case files “rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, blending breathtaking action with true detective work to deliver an unprecedented interactive experience”, and probably doesn’t include a magnifying glass or half-smoked cigarette accessory.

On Switch, LA Noire features “specific enhancements including a Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, HD rumble and new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, plus contextual touch screen controls for portable detective work”.

For Xbox One and PS4, the game includes some obligatory technical razzle-dazzle with “enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more”, according to the press stuff, plus a 1080p native resolution. That’s boosted up to 4K on PS Pro and Xbox One X, obviously.

It’s out on 14 November.
