Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner was a pretty sweet game. It had anime cutscenes, an amazing soundtrack, fluid gameplay, and a confusing name – everything you could want from a Japanese mech game. It was first released in 2003 for the PS2, then it was re-released in 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in HD, and now confirmed in a recent announcement from the Tokyo Games Show 2017, it’s going to be re-re-released soon on PS4 and PC.

The new version is called Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner MARS, except the A is flipped upside down in a branding attempt. I don’t know the keyboard shortcut to type that, so you’ll just have to take my word. The game will feature 4K visual upgrades, and what it calls “next-gen surround sound”. Most excitingly, it will also be fully playable in VR with either PSVR or SteamVR, putting you right in the cockpit of Jehuty. Here’s a spiffy trailer, showing off a little of the game’s VR mode.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner MARS will launch in early 2018 for PS4 and PC. Sadly, it doesn’t feature the first game, because it would be great to experience both titles in all their 4K glory.
