We covered the headline features of the version 4.0.0 update for the Nintendo Switch, but it turns out that the update had a few more tricks up its sleeve – along with added support for USB headphones, some clever people have figured out that the Nintendo Switch now supports GameCube controllers too.
As you’ll see in the GameXplain video above, getting your trusty (but fugly) ‘Cube pads working with your Switch requires the USB adapter that Nintendo released for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. It works with all Nintendo Switch games, for those of you not satisfied with the current selection of proper Switch control options. Just be aware that the GameCube pad is short a Home button and ZL-equivalent shoulder button, which may complicate things in certain games.
Don’t bother trying to get your fancy Xbox Elite controller to do the same thing, though – right now it looks like the GameCube pad is the only one that works.[via The Verge]
