Microsoft killed off its ambitious motion sensor array system in October last year, but until now, if you owned one and were upgrading to an Xbox One S or X, you could still get hold of an adapter to plug it into your new system. That adapter, however, is now officially out of production.

“After careful consideration, we decided to stop manufacturing the Xbox Kinect Adapter to focus attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One and Windows 10,” said a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to Polygon, after people started noticing that retailers were permanently out of stock of the item.

This now means that if you still want to use your beloved Kinect, but don’t own an adapter, you’re stuck with your original Xbox One. But lets look for a silver lining here – I’m reading “fan-requested gaming accessories across Xbox One,” and I’m hearing “official Xbox keyboard and mouse combos,” which will have many gamers smiling from ear to ear, right? Right. So, bye bye, Kinect. Thanks for the memories.
