Did you know there’s a new Call of Duty game coming out this year? Of course you did. But what else do you know about it? Not much, ‘ey? Well, if industry insider Marcus Sellars is to be believed, this year’s Call of Duty is going to be of the Black Ops flavoured variety. That’s good news, innit? We like Black Ops? Sorry, I’m a Battlefield lad, myself, but from what I hear Black Ops is the bees knob. Blops, you kids call it? Sounds lovely.
COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.

Citing, well, no one at all, Sellars reckons Black Ops 4 is going to be set in modern times, with the focus on “boots on the ground”, so we’re talking more Modern Warfare than Advanced Warfare. And that, people, is good news. I don’t know what it takes to be considered an industry insider, but apparently this guy has a knack for it – as pointed out by Multiplayer First, this is the same insider who gave us accurate leaks about Dark Souls and Nintendo Labo.
As you’ll have read in the above tweet, it seems that there will be a Nintendo Switch version this year too. It’s said to make use of the mobile hybrid console’s unique abilities and will be ported by another company with a history of CoD development. As usual with things like this, consider it conjecture until we hear more.
