Giant Software has shown off this year’s version of the most popular farming simulator with a solitary screenshot. They’ve decided to follow tradition and call it Farming Simulator 19, because the kind of people who enjoy farming simulators rarely enjoy change, and are largely the kind of people who like their games to have that stoic, no-nonsense ring to them. Imagine if they called it Farm Tales: My Life Among the Whispering Corn Stalks. Farming Simulator people would lose their minds. So, Farming Simulator 19 it is. Stoic and no-nonsense, like when a cow trods on your foot.

You can laugh at Farming Simulator if you like, but people really do buy this stuff. Like, by the tractor load. You could say Giant Software bet the farm on the franchise – putting all their eggs in one basket, so to speak – and the developer is now bringing home the bacon. In fairness, the trend for farming games probably wont last for ever, so it’s best that they make hay while the sun shines.

Okay, I’ll stop.

Farming Simulator 19 will be out later this year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It’s sure to sell well, but it’s best not to count chickens before they hatch.
