I quit my job recently, and have had a lot of free time since the wifey is still working... And I've been seeing way too much movies, what movie did you really just hate?

This idea just came to me as I am watching Evan Allmighty... I really enjoyed the 1st one.. Bruce Allmighty... Ja I know most Jim Carrey is predictable, but I love his stupid humor! Its kind of like Sandler's anger! But this guy in Evan, he's from 'The Office' right? Another show that breaks my balls for its constant same jokes...

Thats a movie I kind of enjoyed, the reason being I knew what to expect! Over the top action with nothing but a porno's story line in between!
Enjoyed watching it with my dad... Every second word was "Yoh!" or "Fok it!"!

Yeah obvious. But like. Everytime someone in the movie opened their shameful mouth i wanted to throw my car into my tv. It was painful. There was no need to waste money making that film. Like feed somalia.

With 'Shoot Em Up' I couldn't decide if it was meant to be a spoof or something, I mean the guys finishing move is a carrot between the eyes... thats the funniest **** ever!

I hate comedies that go all limp at the end, they make you laugh your ass off the first 3 quarters then they torture you with dragged-out-moral-of-the-story-heart warming bull****. It's a killjoy. Romantic comedies... ugh!

I think The Matrix trilogy is the most overhyped, shallow piece of try-hard, pretentious rubbish I've ever subjected myself to. And I didn't even bother to watch the third one, because the second one was so painfully awful.

Btw. The worst movie ever created is mr bones 2.

I'm sure that's an awful film, but I bet it pales in comparison to The Roller Blade Seven (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0102804/), which is undoubtedly the single most awful film I've ever seen in my entire life. I simply cannot fathom how any film could possibly be worse.

This review posted on imdb really sums it up.

The "plot" concerns a Hawk (Shaw), a futuristic Ninja dude, who has to rescue his sister from evil baddies led by the crippled Pharoah (Smith), who is some kinda cult leader who invented a popular skateboard or something. Hawk meets up with all kinda weirdos, both good and bad, most of whom dress funny and use roller blades, and one of which continually plays the banjo. I say good and bad, because I honestly couldn't tell most of the time who was who, or what side they were on. Especially that banjo fella. And I suppose there was seven of them, but I wasn't counting, and who really cares? One of the roller bladers was Don Stroud but I never worked out which one, and eventually forgot he was even supposed to be in it. By the credits I didn't even care any more

This is closely followed by Witch Academy (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0108576/) for title of worst film ever. Witch Academy is 83 minutes of gratuitously topless women punching each other with Street Fighter style sound effects, under the premise that it's some kind of initiation night in their sorority. Or something like that. It was ****ing awful.

You know I am the opposite, I love bad movies, absolutely love bad movies. I could watch a 9 movie marathon of Steven Segal. But I guess no one is expecting them to be good so that is why they are enjoyable.

I think the worst movies are the ones where you expect them to be a certain type (or quality) but are in fact total opposites but obviously not in a good way. I was expecting Benjamin Button to be this hectic drama/love story but it was also actually very funny, which was an awesome surprise.

Then you get movies that you expect to be very funny and they really aren't like "Yes Man" with Jim Carey

I hated Lady in the water too. In fact, I dislike most of his recent movies, while they are very smart I guess I just hate how he makes you expect something really cool and then it just turns up as some **** in a self made costume.

Oh yes, now I remember the movie.........Running with scissors. Bloody hell, what a complete load of turtle ****. I've seen some horrible movies in my life but this one sits high on my top 10 worst movies of all time.

Oh and I own Shoot em up on DVD. Clive Owen's a god.

Recently, I was disappointed by The Center Of The World. It had such a killer premise but the execution was just awful. The 'gaming' acting was particularly cringe-worthy. It's sad, really, because the two lead characters were perfectly cast and did their best to save the film from mediocrity. The screenplay and directing killed it, imo. :/

Anyhow, the scene in which Augusten watches Neil going away on the bus and they play Mr Blue in the background is one of the most moving scenes in any film. Yes, they're both guys, shock, awe, it doesn't make it any less moving.

Sorry guys didn't mean to offend. The movie is just so over the top I honestly couldn't decide if I was meant to take it seriously. But if thats what you're looking for thats all good, I watch Fast n Furious for the cars and babes. I just can't help the way I see things, Rodrigues' Planet Terror for instance was hilarious to me. I honestly enjoy having a laugh at movies like that.

i enjoyed the first one quite a bit..

The first one was boring and silly (in the bad way). The -only- cool part was the presence of Bishop. The rest was rather annoying actually. The characters were weak, the story REALLY irritated me (being a long time fan of the alien/predator franchise, the idea that Preadators crafted humanity in ancient times nauseated me), the pacing was depressingly over paced, and the Predator's surprised expression at the end of the movie was hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

I enjoyed the second movie more, since I knew what to expect. I just turned my brain off, and it was fun (however, in hindsight, this is still a depressing fact seeing how amazing the Alien series, and first Predator movie was). The movie was Scream with aliens.

Though, the manner of how the Predalien "impregnated" humans to create more aliens still sends me into a rant :P

(you know, I should really start taking note each time I complain about this exact same thing :P)

Movie wise.... I tend to avoid movies I suspect I will dislike, so I have very few bad encounters (that I remember, at least). I stopped watching Bullet Proof Monk half way when I rented the DVD, a feat I only remember also doing with Kerd ma Lui (Born to Fight).

The second and third Matrix films...yeah, those were somewhat painful, especially the "we-may-make-more-movies-lol" ending that left me speechless. The fight scenes in the last two movies were immensely llimp, the final showdown being utterly removed and laughable. The ONLY enjoyable part of the last two movies was the invasion of their city, brainless cool action, though I was constantly annoyed that the mechs they were riding were so badly designed :P

Babylon AD.

When we left the cinema I wasn't sure what had just happened. I was dazed and confused, because I had just spent hours watching Vin Diesel try to act. Worst of all, the plot wasn't a plot so much as it was a string of events that vaguely related to one another. I actually considered stabbing someone while walking out, but I knew it wasn't their fault that Mr. Diesel was severely constipated during shooting.

I recall watching about 10 minutes of Dungeons and Dragons before I destroyed my TV. I didn't mean to; I accidentally walked into it, knocking it over, while my eyes were bleeding.

The only movie I've ever slept through is Maid in Manhattan, but I mean, honestly, does that really surprise anyone? Drag me to a **** movie, and I'll drool over you popcorn. Fair trade.

I think I've become quite good at determining which movies I'll find ****, so I can't say I've really seen any recently. All the movies South Africa has managed to produce recently...let's just not go there. If you have a movie called Hond se Dinges and it features Frank Opperman. I choose death.

Babylon AD: Good enough to watch, but the director didn't pay a lot of attention to detail with the storyline, and it felt rather hurried. That being said, I thought Diesel was doing his best possible (but really, how on earth is he supposed to top the bad-ass Riddick?). I was confused enough the first time to see it twice in order to get everything down, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the map. I want that ****ing map! <3 <3 <3

Dungeons and Dragons: precious moments of my life lost forever.

I hate the modern zombie! This should probably come in the games discussion forum but, when did zombies decide to get intelligent, fast and strong enough to take a shotgun to the face?

Anyway, the interesting thing about zombies in film is that, over the years they change to represent the people at the time. The "fast" zombies grew from the relatively recent emergence of Rage culture, just as certain traits of older zombie archetypes represented aspects of the youth culture at that time.

At the same time, it's also the thrill of the concept of "spreading infection", and people put new and interesting (well, attempt to anyway) concepts towards this.

Did anybody hear about that rugby movie they(Clint Eastwood) are making about the SA rugby team? I think it's called "95" I think that's going to be FAIL, unless Matt Damon can preform miracles!

Why will it fail? Clint is a great filmmaker.

Well, I think it would be a rather brilliant movie, if made by someone who, you know actually knew anything about rugby.
Seriously, getting American's to make a movie about rugby is like letting the Wadani make a movie about quantum physics.
And it's no use saying they will learn the rules, any true rugby fan will no it's about a lot more than the rules.

The movie about the '95 Worldcup is not going to be about the rugby as such. It's going to be around the unification of S.A as a country after winning the WC. I think it might turn out to be a good movie.

Morgan Freeman as Mandela might be interesting too. I wonder if he is going to try and emulate Madiba's particular voice and speaking style..I really hope not :p

Well, It was a good time for all South Africans. Everyone still getting used to the new SA, and then when Mandela pulled a Springbok jersey on, it kinda brought home the fact that everyone were behind a team that traditionally were only seen as a white sport.

I remember while studing in PTA, that afterwards we went out to celebrate and we saw black and white people dancing in the streets...sounds corny but it did happen.

Well, It was a good time for all South Africans.

I think you're overestimating how many South Africans give a **** about rugby, or cared about the World Cup. Saying "all" South Africans were having a "good time" is rather spectacularly hyperbolic when you consider the millions who were (and still are) living amidst squalor, crime, and extreme poverty. Not everyone was sitting around watching the World Cup, drinking Castle lagers and having a braai, you know.

Frankly, I think the naivet? of films like this do more damage than good, because they look at events through rose tinted glasses, and ignore reality, while claiming to portray things how they really were.

True, but your still underestimating what impact it did have. It was the first time that most ( know I'm generalizing now) South Africans was proud of something together.

And I watched the Good, the Bad and the Ugly last night and was blown away all over again by Mr Eastwood. I know he's not acting now, but I think when he thinks something will work, I'll trust it.

Fantastic Four 1+2. It wasn't really 'I hated' - it just wasn't any fun to watch. Like how the main villain shows up right at the end, says "I will kill you all for illogical and paranoid reasons" and then is defeated. Then number 2, which had abit more excitement, but had them teaming up with Dr Doom, who just betrays them straight away, making the whole team-up almost pointless, not to mention the ending where Galactus was a big energy-cloud that was, again, defeated in a single CGI sequence

Also Punisher. One of Marvels' super-B-Grade movies.

Chick flicks are the worst! Or when they play cliche music to move the audience (a high E on the strings con sordino) is just plain sick. Or minimalistic piano music to get those tears rolling... ITS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE AND THEY STILL DO IT!

That is why I love Star Wars so much. The music is true to the emotion and never manipulates the audience.

::clears throat:: Well you see, Scary Movie 3 was not meant to be like the other Scary Movies (I loved it more than the others) in it was Directed by David Zucker. My suggestion is watch Airplane, Naked Gun, Wrongfully Accused or any other movie that Zucker had a hand in. Then judge for yourself whether you liked Scary Movie 3 or not.

I adored it but that is because I loved Zucker movies - as such I hated Scary Movie 1+2, when compared to 3 because all the toilet humour made me sick. I am starting to dislike the Wayans Brothers when they make movies.

I do agree that Date Movie sucked ass so did Epic Movie - they were shameless cash ins that were not in the least bit funny.

On the topic of hated movies though, I HATED with a passion, National Security. It has actually made me refuse to watch any other movie with Martin Lawrence in. The entire premise behind the movie was racist, the guy losing his wife, job and lifestyle because some black dude lied to the cops and refused to come clean.

I can handle racism in movies (See Undercover Brother and the token white guy for further reference) but not when it forms the entire basis for the plot.

:) Understood, Scary Movie 3+4 are not everyone's cup of tea. I am a mega fan of the parody genre, but it needs to be tastefully done. Toilet humour is no longer funny to me, nor is people suffering (like constant wedgies or some crap)

Scary Movie 3 in particular was almost a Zucker-lite movie, since they tried to appeal to a broader audience. I still laugh a lot when Leslie Nielsen comes into the room and says "I just want to wish you good luck, and we are all counting on you" - a true tribute to Airplane :)

I know what you mean. Sometimes watching a really bad movie just makes you appreciate the good ones, and to a lesser extent, the mediocre ones too. Something I've noticed is that whenever I hear a bad review, be it for a game, book or movie, when I do eventually get around to checking it out, I'm more often than not a little surprised. One of those movies was Wanted. I heard only bad things about it from everyone I know who watched it, but when I got round to actually watching it, I actually enjoyed it. If you watch the movie Titanic backwards, its about the citizens of the lost city of Atlanitis finally escaping to the surface in a giant iron clad boat

If you watch Rambo backwards, it's Sylvester Stallone healing people with his magical bullet vacuum.
And repairing helicopters with nothing but a bow and arrow.

If you watch Fight Club backwards, you see Ed Norton turn from a crazy streetperson into a successful productive member of society

All stealth release games to movie movies. I rented Dungeon Siege a few weeks back, and though it wasn't terrible, the camera work and the cast were horrendous. Otherwise it was a good film, even though it didn't follow the original story. Oh, and it has a protagonist called Farmer. That wasn't cool.

Love Guru. I normally watch movies to the end, no matter how bad they are, but I stopped this movie half way through because it was so unfunny.

I don't "hate" movies per se, but I've been disappointed by a few recently.

For example, I didn't enjoy Gran Torino nearly as much as I thought I would (though to be fair, it was hyped up to the gills by all my friends).

I hate hype... it honestly kills the movie for me...
Like when i was told about Dark Knight, and how awesome it was and how amazing Heath was in it.

I watched it and thought it was averagely good, and heath wasn't that amazing...

Reboot!

Now I won't say I hated this movie, I've actually been awaiting it for quite a while... But there are just too many questions left un-answered...

The movie = Cloverfield

Where did the "monster" come from? (The crash in the water at the end explains nothing) Did they kill it?

*edit* Why was the monster being such a ****?

I enjoyed the 1st Blair Witch

I remember all my friends talking about it and how awesome and "real" it was, and I was just like "it sucked", don`t get me wrong I don`t think that you people who enjoyed it have bad taste or anything, its just a different taste from what I like.

I have to say that "Burn after Reading" was a pretty messed up movie, I didn't even realise it had started until about 10 minutes in. . .

Disaster movie... :( ..... :( I don't think even the people who made that movie know what is going on!
And some crappy low budget Shark movie called SHARK ATTACK :/

Oh and riezo your avatar suits the song I am listening to perfectly.

haha man you people are funny, I thought twilight was quite a good movie, ofcourse I didn't expect typical vampire violence seeing as if you read the book you would know what to expect.

A movie I really hated was:

The Day The Earth Stood Still.......

BIGGEST LOAD OF KAK EVER

I actually paid for this movie and fell asleep in it thats how bad it is, I wasted my poor R18.

I'd say hate is a strong word, but I really disliked X-Men Origins : Wolverine. The blue screen, story and acting sucked, and wtf is Will.I.AM a dumbass doing there :/

Strange, I was just about to come post about the same movie. I rented it last night. Half the time I didn't know what was going on. I still don't know why the alien just suddenly left...
Luckily I had Twilight to cheer me up. Really put me in a good mood after watching that The Day The Earth Rebelled against Pointless Endings.

Also watched Cemetery Gates. Was actually so bad I enjoyed quite a few laughs. The effects and all were so lame I thought it was a really old movie, then I saw it was made in 2005...
A low budget movie about a bunch of teens making a low budget movie in a cemetery and getting attacked by a Tasmanian Devil...

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-li was absolutely terrible, imo. The story (I can't believe they chose that story arc) the acting, the casting...sigh. Liu Kang's performance as Gen?

That wasn't Street Fighter. That was just a sad action movie dressed up in the Street Fighter name and likeness.

Anyone looking to watch a good Street Fighter movie should rather watch Street Fighter 2: The Animated movie, instead. The opening scene alone (Ryu VS Sagat) is better than the entire Legend of Chun-li movie, seriously.

Disaster Movie. The name says it all really. I was expecting a stupid slap stick movie, and I was only watching it because I was bored. I never really liked those teen movies like Scary Movie or American Pie, but this trash has taken stupidity to new, excruciating heights! I stopped watching about 45 mins in because even being bored was better than putting myself through another second.

Avoid it like the plague. You have been warned.

Punisher Warzone. Yep, i was punished for renting that pile of crap. The only thing it kinda had going for it was that it was a bit more gory than the first, but the acting, plot, characters etc. was a massive failure. Do not watch unless you want your eyes to bleed.
