Dwayne Johnson to star in Gears of War movie? [Archive]

Chris Morgan has recently started to write the script for the new 'Gears of War' Movie, and has now started to create a list of people to take up parts in the film. With Marcus Fenix as the most important character.

Although Cliff Bleszinski has said that he preferred a player in the line of Sean Penn, Morgan told MTV that he prefers Actor and wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for the part. Morgan said "They need to find someone who is a good player that is more than a hard and silent type. Morgan went on to say "I think The Rock is amazing. He is a genuine actor.

Everything seems to be coming into place for the movie, lets just hope it works out.

He was great in the Doom movie (look it was a good game-movie despite not really being linked with the game) so I don't see the problem...besides what hideinlight said. :)

No.

I don't care how many critics and people say otherwise, Dwayne cannot act. I put his acting ability solidly with the likes of Paul Walker or even Jean Claude Van Damme in his heyday.

The only role that he actually pulled off, to perfection, was the gay bodyguard in 'Be Cool' - and even then, it is not very hard to play a raging, desperately trying to stay in the closet homosexual.

I shall agree, Marcus Fenix is not exactly an exceptionally hard character to play... but still...can we please have an actor with a bit more depth than The Rock?

I think he does have some acting ability. Not oscar-material but not Van Damme either. My only problem is he looks nothing like Marcus. I'm not holding my breath for a high profile actor like Sean Penn, but at least someone that can pull off Marcus well. I'm thinking Bill Goldberg. He bears a slight resemblance, has the bod of a football player and totally has the gruff voice down. Why not?

I thought that one guy from Wild Hogs (I forgot his name) looked the part. The one squinty eyed dude who blew up the bikers' bar? He looked just like Marcus when he had a bandana on.

Jean-Claude is a great actor, do yourselves a favour and watch JCVD. The Rock has never been given a role that he can truly act in. Except for Be Cool, and he nailed it. We have no idea how good he can be.
As for actors for GOW, I'd like to see Ron Perlman in there somewhere.

I like the Rock. Physically he'd fit the part but he needs a much raspier voice. Whoever playes any of the roles need to be big. If you really wanna **** me of then make one of them skinny.

That picture doesn't make him look a lot like Marcus, but there was this one scene in Wild Hogs, I think it was while they were planning their trip, where I could've sworn he was Marcus.

A thought just came to me. Does it matter whether they are built or not beause they could just be made to appear as large as their in-game counter parts and therefore they only need to be like their in-game counter parts facially(is this a word?) and in speech.

He should stay to his Family comedies about Hardore Football coaches trying to raise a 4 year old girl. Just my 2c btw. :\
