To everyone who responds here: For the love of all that is good and pretty and made of ponies, don't list or post single-item responses. Doing so will earn you an infraction and will get this thread locked without any further warning.

On a lighter note, I recently read the World of Warcraft Ashbringer hard cover graphic novel. I'm not big on the WoW lore but I know it, and I love WC3, so I found this book incredibly entertaining.

There's a 4 volume compendium of the Luna Brothers' comic Girls.

Overview (http://www.mondomagazine.net/2009/01/hidden-gem-the-luna-brothersgirls/)

It blew me away and it won over a staunch anti-comic friend. I'm not used to comics where the characters deal with extraordinary events in such an imperfect, very human kind of way and found it surprisingly appealing. Sure, there's the obligatory "hyuk hyuk there R naked girls" etc [of which there are loads] but the comic's strengths are the unfolding of each character's personal dramas together with the absolute weirdity of what's happening around them. Massively awesome.

Oh, also Fables.

In a nutshell: fairy tale characters are driven from their homelands by the mysterious being known only as The Adversary and they take to living with us 'mundies', hiding in plain sight.

The Big Bad Wolf's now officially one of my favourite characters ever, and The Adversary's identity is, to me, one of the best little surprises in comics history.

Back in the day I used to love 2000AD, but mostly for Rogue Trooper. I was never really a fan of Judge Dredd. I found him to be a bit meh.

I'd say my favourite is The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, with Watchmen a close second.

I've also read Batman Year One by Frank Miller and Batman The Killing Joke, and V for Vendetta by Alan Moore. Their all classics which I only recently read for the first time, and all I can say is, there's definitely a reason their classics. Very good.

For any one looking to get Batman Graphic novels I found this (http://comics.ign.com/articles/624/624619p1.html) very helpful.
Looking to get Hush Vol1& 2 next.

I also ordered Terminator Salvation The movie prequel which seems interesting :)

Comic book side, I've read Wolverine Origins recently, and I liked it a lot. It ends a bit abrupt though :/

Have you tried contacting Animeworx? I’m not sure if they do that kind of thing, but maybe they can point you in the right direction. I would expect to pay quite a lot though.

I love Spawn too, but it was mostly the artwork that blew me away. I remember when I was a stupid teen I even wanted to get a tattoo… in retrospect I’m so glad that never happened! I used to collect Spawn comics back in the day when Battleaxe Press was still around, and they therefore didn’t cost an arm and a leg. It’s a real pity they didn’t last. They're comics were of the "recycled toilet paper" variety but at least they were affordable and I'm sure if they had grown they're comics would be much better quality today. Perhaps someone should consider re-starting something like that, now that demand is growing.

I also used to buy all my Batman comics then too, I had them right from issue #1 so it was a really cool collection that I was proud of. Batman is my favourite Comic, I mostly enjoy Batman: Detective because they’re usually episodic so I tend to find them quite addictive, but they’re also hard to keep up with, and of course The Dark Knight. I always liked Batman as a kid because he is just a normal guy and doesn’t have superpowers like the other heroes, and because he had really cool gadgets n stuff. :P

I used to have literally hundreds of comics, from Archie through to MAD to Batman to 2000 AD to Lobo and a whole load of random ones that I had picked up from friends and family and SPCA sales in between. I had a whole chest of drawers dedicated to them, and it was practically full. The 2000 AD collection belonged mostly to my brother and one day he decided to sell his collection…. along with mine!! I have never been so mortified or so angry, like, ever! I wanted him to buy them back but he is much older than me and my frikken mom took his side, because it was “about time you grow out of it”, and I think she just really hated them because she’s a staunch Christian and they were pretty much filled to the brim with occult stuff. I couldn’t believe it. The greatest loss was my Batman: Detective comics which were still in mint condition and filed all nicely in plastic sleeves and everything. Even when I think of it now it makes me feel a bit bummed.

I tried starting my collection again with Batman: Detective issue #800. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, they are hard to keep up with so I’ve given up on that. Maybe one day when I save some cash I’ll get a subscription. Maybe I’ll start at issue #1000 – that would be totally cool! I’ve also got a bunch of random stuff that I picked up from CNA when they had these bargain bin comics for sale. I got some really cool comics from that, but they are totally random so I don’t think there are any that have a full story, I mostly just got them for the eye candy.
