Highest clocked quad so far

AMD is gearing up to launch its fastest CPU thus far, the Phenom II 965 Black Edition (HDZ965FBGIBOX), clocked at 3.4GHz.

This is the highest clocked quad-core so far. It is 200MHz faster than the Phenom II 955 and 400MHz faster than Intel's Q9650. Intel's Core i7 975 EE runs at 3.33GHz, and it will still offer superior performance, but it's about four times pricier than the new Phenom II.

Speaking of pricing, we still don't know the exact numbers, but the Phenom II 955 currently sells for ?170, and you can expect the new part to end up slightly higher.

Knew AMD were going to realise a new processor between the 955 and the by the time I would have enough cash to purchase it.

I'll wait to see how this one performs before deciding between the 955 and the 965.

Now if only AMD would sell the TWKR CPUs as well...

Bang goes my plans for buying a 955. Is there any specific date that we can expect this processor to arrive?

EDIT: Haven't got a clue how trustworthy this (http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,688532/Phenom-II-X4-965-BE-AMD-obviously-plans-new-CPU-top-model-Update/News/) is, but:

Several websites congruently report that AMD will not launch the Phenom II X4 965 BE not in early July as expected earlier, but much later. According to the latest information there will not be a new AMD high-end processor introduced in July.

So it could happen, that the Phenom II X4 965 BE is launched when Intel releases the Lynnfield CPUs. Up to now there is no information what AMD wants to position against the new socket 1156 processors.

Most sites I've visited slate a release within the fortnight.
