Took some refreshing etc. to accept mine too, but it finally sorted it's self and gave me my reference number and confirmation :)

But why do I ALWAYS have issues with Computicket? Surely Mastercard is used enough for them to get this sorted. And I'm not the only person who's had issues with paying computicket via credit card. It's actually unacceptable.

Yeah I agree. Computicket usually gives me problems as I use Mastercard as well. I'm sure this new safety system where you have to provide ID and receive a code via sms has something to do with it.

Due to the inefficiency of my local checkers computicket I was stuck behind a lady cashing in 20 lotto tickets, as there are 3 counters but only 1 teller. When another teller finally appeared she redirected me to another counter, but somehow managed to freeze the Pc when I requested Nag lan tickets. After the other teller (called away from the lady to fix the computer) had fumbled around under the desk for about 5 minutes managed to restart the Pc, yet none of them could seem to log on.After another 5 minutes they managed to log in (I pointed out they were trying to log on using a dial up connection, and then it worked), but this time when I asked for Nag lan tickets the teller replied "This machine cannot book tickets...you have to use the other (third) counter" I managed to restrain myself and not choke her over the counter..
Apon reaching the third counter i noted the time was about 2:35, we had been waiting for an hour.
So as I finally place my order for 3 Nag lan tickets the teller looks up and says "Im sorry, theres only one left, oh now its sold out"

Needless to say if anyone cannot make it, you know where your tickets can go

If you check my first post you will see I also had big crap with computicket and I was there at 8 30 and then the by 9 30 it was finaly open on there system after I phoned there hotline twice. It just goes to show the pathetic service from some companies in SA I do know thet nag or anyone else has control over this it is a computicket problem and it is not the first time...

However, resale at ORIGINAL value is cool with me. If you can't make the trip, then sell your ticket to get your money back. I was actually at Computicket at Cresta before the sale of the LAN tickets came online, would not miss this LAN for the world. I've attended Rage every year since it started, LANned there for the last 4 years, wouldnt miss out on number 5. But, the downside is, half of my friends didn't get tickets, major bummer since I'm trying to help tons of people get tickets now.

Telkom and AGASA will be hosting three competitive Do Gaming League events at rAge (CoD4, CSS and Battlefield 2). These competitions will take place in a completely seperate area to the NAG LAN - the Do Gaming VIP area is located underneath The Dome in the old casino area. Tickets for access to this area are only available through qualification in the Do Gaming League. The Do Gaming VIP area will accommodate 500 gamers, and they will be networked to the NAG LAN meaning that in total there will be 2,300 gamers playing on the same network at rAge this year. If you have actually attended a NAG LAN before , and we assume that your knowledge base includes basic mathematical skills , then surely you would've realised that
2300 - 1800 = 500 thus 500 Increase in the LAN size from 1800 in 2008.

Also , if you attended the previous ones as well :
2004 - 500
2005 - 700 ( 200 Increase)
2006 - 1200 ( 500 Increase)
2007 - 1500 ( 300 Increase)
2008 - 1800 ( 300 Increase)
2009 - 2300 ( 500 Increase)

So , if you had even the faintest idea of what goes into calculation when adding 500 more people to your network , then I'm sure you would take back your silly little statement "surly increase it by at least 2000.".

Let me explain - Going back to 2004 , if memory serves me right (and correct me if I'm wrong , those who've been here long enough to remember) VC didn't organize the 2004 LAN. It was a nice LAN , with the exception of multiple network and power failures , which are of course no biggie when LANning.
2005 came , Excellent LAN , Minimum down time , Maximum enjoyment. From there on it was bliss.

Sure , there was downtime over the years , but minimal , and it was fixed so fast that a lot never even noticed.

If i had to choose between a 4000 man LAN , with downtime every hour , over the smooth , nicely set up 2300 man LAN done by the VC crew , with minimum downtime , its pretty obvious where my money will go.

It may be clich?d but , Quality over Quantity my friend. I highly doubt you've ever been involved in any semi big network setup.

Last , but not least - If you could do it better , you would probably be doing it.

VCs done a great job over the years , and i hope they keep it up.

Stop being a "Suur Knol" because you missed your rAge tickets.

Okay, officially if you have bought a NAG LAN ticket and are unable to go for some unkown reason then you are allowed to sell it to someone else at the same price you paid for it ie R250. What we are trying to prevent is people making a ridiculous profit on NAG LAN tickets just because the demand is there (more commonly known as scalping).

As far as the LAN capacity is concerned, yes we would love to be able to accommodate everyone and double up the size, but logistically we have power considerations to keep in mind. If we werent making use of the rest of the Dome for the Expo itself then the LAN could easily grow, but keep in mind that each stand at the expo is using power and other resources. There is a technical explanation here that would best be explained by ShadowOrphan from VC as he has intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Dome, so be assured that increasing the LAN has been investigated and its not quite possible at this stage.

FF-Freak has summed up the numbers rather well though. You may note that he refers to there being 2,300 gamers in the LAN this year. 1,800 tickets were for the NAG LAN and an additional 500 are for the Telkom Go Gaming VIP area. This area is located underneath the Dome itself where the old casino used to be, and is reserved exclusively for the Go Gaming Online League competition winners (http://gaming.do.co.za/articles/localnews/do_gaming_announces_rage_09_plans.htm). This area however will be connected to the NAG LAN and will also be run by VC, powered by a D-Link network and Intel servers. Thus you can see how we are stretching our resources this year to accommodate an additional 500 gamers. Where we have the means available to us we will always do our best to make the LAN bigger. But this year 1,800 in the NAG LAN is as big as it gets.

Well if you actualy used your brain you would notice that those tickets are for the Do Gaming ViP Section an that means that it would be easier for people to get tickets.. Seeing as those VIP's Would have also wanted to go to rAge if they didn't get the tickets.

There will three official Telkom Do Gaming competitions in the VIP area:

?Call of Duty 4 ? top 36 teams
?Counter Strike Source ? 12 teams
?Battlefield 2 ? 10 teams

These teams will all receive Telkom Do Gaming VIP tickets to rAge. The ranking of the teams will be decided from the third leg of the Do Gaming League. In the case of CoD4, there will be a playoff at the end of the leg and the top 36 teams thereafter will receive their VIP tickets. Basically all teams in the Premier league and 1st Division will qualify, 2nd division teams will need battle it out for the top 10 spots to qualify, and the top 2 from the 3rd division will qualify. If teams do not make the top 36/12/10 teams, they will need to buy NAG LAN tickets.

That is indeed correct, we did not host the first rAge event. We did attend however.

Well Einstein request that you read some of the threads and you will find the link that has been posted several times to the AGASA Telkom Do Gaming competition. It will explain how you can try and get your hands on those tickets. Those tickets were bought by Telkom and may not be resold. It is Telkom showing appreciation for their online community. The Do Gaming Telkom LAN will also be separate in a nice carpeted area. Thus it is indeed correct that the LAN size has increased. Last year the Do Gaming was part of the 1800 lanners upstairs. They used 300 tickets if I recall correctly.

If for whatever reason you do not require your ticket, please do not attempt to resell your ticket for more than the original cost keeping in mind adding cost for shipping is allowed. Also please keep all negotiating to pm. I will start a thread to help in this regard. Should you not comply with this request, consider yourselves banned from the forums.

As far as this thread goes, try to keep it civil. I appreciate the problem with the record time that tickets sold out. I am sure that this will certainly provide food for thought for our brilliant guys at NAG.

I think it's time we ask waterkloof air force base to offer up 2 hangers for a weekend, one for the LAN and one for the EXPO :) that should give us more space for more lanners don't you think? And we'll be able to bring our own drinks and not have to pay the heavy elevated prices the Dome Owners are charging us.

The Waterkloof AFB has hosted expos before, not sure of the cost and electricity implications. :)

I think it's time we ask waterkloof air force base to offer up 2 hangers for a weekend, one for the LAN and one for the EXPO :) that should give us more space for more lanners don't you think? And we'll be able to bring our own drinks and not have to pay the heavy elevated prices the Dome Owners are charging us.

The Waterkloof AFB has hosted expos before, not sure of the cost and electricity implications. :)

As long as you booked it and the transaction went through you can collect it at any time you like

Nice one. In general, if any of you guys see sales on any forums or online bidding sites or anything like that, please report the sales to the site admins. It's quite simply against the terms and conditions of Computicket, which should be enough to put them off supporting such things.

You can also notify me of anything dodgy that you see. The closer we get to rAge, the more desperate people will become, and the more scalpers will crawl out of the woodwork.

I agree, after all it is all the simple basics of economics that if there is demand there will be supply. And in essence even though asking outrages prices like R1500 up is just wrong and really unfair you cant stop human nature of willing to make a profit in some way especially now since its recession and all ;P but all in all it is very unlikely to find a ticket that you will get for R250 so ....

But most people that sale extra tickets or have extra (for what ever reason), usually go on who ever values the ticket most so thats why prices go up high .... and if you think about its really "again" economics, person that is willing the most gets the benefit of going to rAgE (which rocks ultra hard), and also eliminates bias selection and gives everyone a chance to get a ticket.

But my final opinion is that people should only resale tickets if they have a cancelation from a friend etc ... not buying extra and so on ....

Well I had a extra ticket as 1 of the guys bought for himself this year. Then I wanted to sell it to a guy for R250 then, one of my other friends gave me R500 because he wanted his GF to go along.. i disagree ticket scalping is when you intentionally buy extra tickets to resell at much higher prices, what shadow stalker did was go for the person who values the ticket most which in this case was his friend, he did not intentionally ask for higher prices people offered the higher prices.

The only thing that shadow stalker should have done is that the ticket is available at original price unless someone wants to payer higher than the ticket goes to that person

Floor space is fully utilized this year as well as the power envelope, as mentioned by ShadowOrphan. I don't think we will see RAGE go bigger then it currently is in the Dome. Only a change in venue will allow it to grow.
