Ok, a quick question for those in the UK or Brazil...
What kind of ludicrous speeds do you get over there? Effing fast according to Nashua Mobile. Let me iterate. Two of our employees went abroad (England and Brazil) and used their roaming enabled 3G modems to connect to the net and download their POP3 email. Obviously, all data bundles are void while roaming and users get charged. So, in comes the itemized bill for each employee (the Nashua Mobile ****sultant assured me that the data column was in kb) which shows data downloads over 20Gb (one was 70Gb) in less than 50mins.
Now is it just me, or are they trying to feed me some chocolate covered horse manure?

That sounds like bullsh!t to me. I use 3G fairly regularly on my iPhone and also on a 3G modem when I'm out of town, and I never get anywhere near those speeds anywhere in England.

Going a bit off topic (don't want to create a thread for this) has anyone on Vodacom 3G noticed any funny's around their connection over the last 2 weeks or so? My connection seems very up and down think it might be the network, I am running Windows 7 64bit though so it might just be a software issue.

Thats bull. 70GBs in 50 mins is 1.4GB a minute, thats 23.3mb/s. Since HSDPA's max connection speed is 7.2mbs(so +/- 750kb/s), someone somewhere is taking the mickey.
Edit!
Seems you can manage around 42mbs HSPA+, but that still doesn't workout to those speeds.

It would make a tad more sense if the data column was meant to be in bytes. Therefore if you take 70Mb worth of data times with about R17/Mb that Vodacom charges for roaming, it comes much closer to the billing totals. But no, reps know better.
@ Gambit: Yeah some weird issues the past 2 weeks. Connection issues and SMTP issues mostly from this side.

Regarding Gambit's question, also been noticing something funny. Though on the flipside, my connection has been amazing these past 24 hours.

They might be busy doing rolling updates on the network. I'm located in the east of Pretoria - you guys?

Even if it was possible. They most likely brought the modems they were using in south africa. There's no modem i know of in sa that's faster than 7.2.

The fact that 3G tech doesn't support anything near those speeds, even at its highest level, makes everything else irrelevant, doesn't matter what modem they were using.
