http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article09-208

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

There are some people on this forum I thought of when I read this

Frankly, due to the meta nature of this thread, I'm quite certain it will be more suited to the Gaming forum instead of off-topic. Meta is always on topic after all. Could a mod move this thread?

Well, considering lightbulbs (and meta stuff) are something we all use and aren't just limited to their application within the gaming sector, I think it's more appropriate to keep the thread here. I've personally found this thread very useful.

Although meta is a perfectly acceptable term, this is not a Latin forum. I propose abstractive as a far more fitting word to be used in this context.

Please use Google if you want to find out more on meta stuff and how forums helps wiff spelling steaks before posting in this forumz.

If my unfathomable years of experience in the writing industry has taught me anything, it's that "meta" is as good as "abstractive".

I put it in gaming by accident, I thought I was putting it in off topic but I guess I read my tabs wrong...that's if I put this in gaming originally, if I didn't, ignore this.

But what about the poor LEDs?! (Yes, I did just start a sentence with a conjunction, bite me.)

I was also wondering about LED's; I want to upgrade but I'm not sure if my DB will support the load? My specs are 4 internal lights, 1 external, 3 double wall sockets. The DB has Earth switch and 3 others. Geyser is gas, not sure if that affects it. Pls help?!

I don't think LED's qualify as lightbulbs... No filaments. Please don't post your ramblings about them here.

You need to be really careful about doing this. Changing lightbulbs, especially to LED variants, is an incredibly dangerous process. Risks include:

Electrocution
Glass-related injury
Blindness
Explosive chemical reactions
Decapitation-by-ceiling-fan
Spontaneous wallpaper combustion
Spontaneous pet combustion
Spontaneous bed linen combustion
Death
Stubbing your toe in the dark

You should consult a professional before attempting to change any lightbulbs in your home.

I remember the first light bulb I changed. It was a disaster! I was happily unscrewing the old bulb, being careful not to touch the glass and only the metal part that goes inside the socket. I couldn't get my fingers in, so I had to use screwdrivers and had to kinda force the socket a bit wider to even fit them in. The next moment I got an electric jolt and fell off the chair. I guess I must have touched the glass by accident. Luckily my cat was there to cushion my fall.

Looking back, I think I might have to use some gloves or something next time I change a light bulb. Oh, and maybe I should turn off the light first as well. What do you guys think?

Well for your information, I used to work next to a lighting warehouse and the-wait, where was I going with this again..?

Just for your info, this is the proper way a LED should be designed. Like x-scon, I too have worked at multiple lighting warehouses; and with my finite, managerial knowledge, I have found this diagram to depict a LED perfectly.
