Got my copy today (a book prize from school). Anyone else reading it, or finished it already? Your thoughts? The reviews have been fairly average, but I'm not expecting much. Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code weren't masterpieces either, so I'm going to judge it accordingly.

Remember, spoiler tags. I've only read the flap so far.

For me most of Dan Brown's books are the equivalent of a slapstick comedy... I turn of my brain and enjoy it. Not too deep, yet still entertaining to no end. Then when I'm done with it I can return to the books that need my thinker to be turned on again. His books are pretty much books to make the average person feel smart... :P

Couldn't have said it better myself. I guess that's why The Da Vinci code is one of the best sellers of all time.

The Lost Symbol was pretty lulzy.

I totally predicted the end.

I loved it. Addictive reading. He's by no means a great writer but he does know how to set a scene. One thing I did find awesome was the historical and scientific accuracy (for the most part). I was sitting with my laptop open on Google, looking stuff up as it came up in the story.

I don't think he sets out to make anyone feel 'smart', he sets out to create a page-turner and succeeds in that regard.
