Ok heres the deal-the cost of the Intels is warped.
It's mental.
Heres an example
Price: R 2,729
Intel Core2 Duo E6850 - dual core 3.0ghz box cpu , with VT+TXT , 65nm , Lga775 , 1333mhz fsb - 2x64k L1+ shared 4mb L2 cache - with EDB , EiST, EM64T , WDE , ASC , SMA , ADMB

VS.
Price: R 3,024
Intel Core2 Duo E6700 - dual core 2.66ghz box cpu , with VT ( Virtual Technology ) , 65nm , Lga775 , 1066mhz fsb - 16k L1+ shared 4mb L2 cache - with EDB , EiST, EM64T , WDE , ASC , SMA

I know that I am biased and the Intel Core2 Duo is supposedly better, but why pay R3 024 for that when you can pay about R1200 for a AM2 6000+ ?

But yes, it is warped is one an OEM and one Boxed maybe?

I have no idea but I think not as it's got no tags stateing any conditions as such.
I know what you are saying and I would buy AMD as a princeple if I could afford it but the decision has been made and I'm with C2D for now.

It might just be that they have a few units they bought at a around that price and are unable to let it go for less, I know they do not carry stock but they might have had some. Still good price's though.

Its the new Intel prices, they dropped again. Some places are just slow updating.

On the old forum there was a thread that also said something about the prizes cuts... 22nd July Price Cuts (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/07/17/intel_core_2_qx6850_e6850_e6750/1)

Must say the E6850 (http://http://www.take2.co.za/product.php?id=2645315) benchmarks at Hardware.Info (http://www.hardware.info/en-US/productdb/bGRkZZiWmJLK/viewproduct/Intel_Core_2_Duo_E6850/) looks good.
