Any other trance junkies on the forum?
Can't wait for A State of Trance 2009 yearmix which is usually released on Armin's birthday, though I hear it's already out.

I do enjoy it, yes. I wouldn't call myself a junkie, considering I listen to all genres and hold no favorites, but trance has it's time and place.

Like Miktar, I am a fan of a lot of genres, Trance being one of them. I wouldn't say I am a fan of Armins, I am more into my Psytrance, Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, Man with no name, Artifakt and of course Skazi. Unfortunately I don't get to any of the outdoor festivals anymore, although I used to be at every single one. I have decided though that the next time Infected Mushroom are out here, I am definitely going, just to listen to their new material being played live.

I do love Armin's stuff and a state of trance is absolutely fantastic. As with those above me though, I find it to be a genre for specific moods.

I stopped listening to trance when I stopped doing drugs.

It just isn't the same without E or shrooms. Still, I have loads of great memories from Getafix in Cape Town. Is that club still there? That was the best spot to hang out and listen to trance ten years ago.

I'd say that's a mindset, really. While hallucinogens and the like can certainly enhance an experience, I wouldn't say they're a pre-requisite for enjoying good music. Perhaps you associated the experience with the music so strongly, that you can't enjoy the music without the experience because you miss it?

Depends on whether she was listening to the music as a consequence of the drugs or taking the drugs as a consequence of the music :p

Then you shouldn't have stopped doing drugs. :P

OT: I still listen to trace on a regular basis, going to raves is still present on my monthly calendar.

Yeah...Armin is pretty insane...i think he's currently ranked 1st on DJ Mag's list of international dj's...but my real faves are Deadmau5 and Tiesto when it comes to trance and Progressive house

For the past two years actually. I like some of the other dj's more, like DJ Shah and DJ Eco, but ASOT is just addictive. I listen to the 2008 yearmix at least once a week, as it contains my two favourite tracks of all time: Lost and La Guitarra.

Doesn't 'Strobe' just give you ****ing shivers? Awesome song to chill to.

Going to go see Deadmau5, Groove Armada and some others at Space of Sound in Madrid. Awesome lineup: http://www.spaceofsoundfestival.com/artistas.php

I also enjoy psy trance, and know there is a Psy Trance new years party called Boomerang in Cape Town near Silwerstroom this year.

I would have liked to go, but I'm a bit older than most fans and don't have anyone to join me.

I especially enjoy:
Yab Yum, Deadmau5, Logica, Xama CirKus and the usuals like Infected Mushroom, Cosmosis..

1st on A State of Trance's top 20 of 2009 is: Gaia - Tuvan.
I don't know about you guys, but this year's yearmix was a bit of a disappointment. There were some good tracks in the top 20, like Find Yourself and On A Good Day, but nothing truly memorable. Guess 2008 set the bar too high.
