Well... I'm not sure if I should say this...
I bought "The Fame Monster" album by Lady GaGa yesterday. It's basically "The Fame" with bonus tracks on it. Some of the lyrics are pretty explicit, like
Take a bite of my bad girl meat
In other news, I'm also listening to David Guetta's album, some Black Eyed Peas, and a few Indie/Alternative rock songs here and there.

Well I've renewed my appreciation for punk. I recently started listening to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket - Blink 182. The thing i love most about this album and just about Blink in general is how they don't take themselves seriously most the time and just enjoy life.
Iv'e also given Billy Talent 1-3 a listen and i really dig this band( I Kinda have to. All part of Canadian Patriotism) . Its considered . My favorite songs have to be; Prisioner of today ( BT ) , Nothing to loose ( BT ), This Suffering ( BT II) and St. Veronika ( BT III).
Cage the elephant's self titled album is quite sweet. Ain't no Rest for the Wicked is still probably the best song on the album, but that's just the Borderlands fanboy speaking.
On to metal!!
P_ablo recently came back from holidays with a really awesome gift. The ManOwar discography. That's just over three gigs of Power Metal :) . Thus far, Gods Of War has to be my favorite album and "Brothers of metal" is my favorite song. Good 'ol ManOwar.
Chimaira - The Infection has really taken me by surprise. Admittedly, at first The Enemy was not one of the most favorable songs on RoadRunner Untd, but after listening to the Venom Inside, I have a new appreciation for the vocalist. The Enemy is now my second favorite song on RR untd, the first being...
Army of the Sun. This song is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. Tim Williams is just such an amazing vocalist and lyricist. His band Bloodsimple is quite cool if you can listen to Metalcore. I really suggest you check out Dead Man Walking and Ride With Me.
Dark Tranquility are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. Character is one of the coolest Melodic Death albums I own. Lost to Apathy being the best song on the album.
And lastly, The Blackening - Machine Head. There are few bands that are as diverse as Machine Head through out their entire careers. Machine Head do it on one album. Take a listen to Halo , then Negative creep and then Colors and you will know what I'm talking about.

I'v been enjoying a little known indie band called The Friday Night Boys. Really cool electro/emo/rock sound.
Also, The Beatles. I don't think I need to explain this one.
And I'v been listening to Ke$ha's new album, Animal, Which is awesome.

More accurately, pop-punk after Enema of State. Another genre that's been sub-genred to the end of the turtleverse, I guess.
Ahem.
Been listening to Gorillaz, weirdly enough. Guess it's fitting, seeing as I wanted to chill more this year. :P
Some really old Green Day and Sex Pistols songs have been threatening my untarnished wall of Paramore most played songs.. Which is good, methinks. Been feeling guilty for neglecting slightly older musics.
Ohand, I dumped all the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Arctic Monkeys I have into a playlist and vowed to learn them all... Not an easy task, despite the simplicity.
I've been listening to The Devil You Know by Heaven and Hell, being the Iommi fan that I am as well as some Black Label Society, namely the Stillborn and Suicide Messiah albums.

Rosetta - Wake/Lift
It's a beautifully atmospheric post-metal album bordering on regular post-rock but with harsh vocals much like Cult Of Luna.
I freaking love it!
I've also been getting back into Meshuggah again with the mindf*ck of an album known as Catch Thirtythree. It might seem boring music to some but the grooves and poly-rhythms just keep on giving.

I am listening to the sort of rougher music sorts lately to get me tuned in to write fanfiction for my favourite game, such as I hate everything about you by 3 Days Grace, Down with the Sickness by Disturbed, Paralyzed by Finger 11, Burn it to the ground by Nickelback, Blow me away by Breaking Benjamin, Seasons by The Veer Union, etc. I still have to find a kick@ss song to write my fighting scenes. None of the above give me that boost.
Any suggestions are welcomed with open arms.

Been listening to The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack! and Bring Me The Horizon lately. Just a little bit of the music I have sitting around on my PC, among the 40 gigs of house, pop, rap, hip-hop etc. that I've never even listened to. There's other music I listen to occasionally (Gorrilaz is good for relaxing etc) and some other rock/metal/death metal etc that I'm not really into (Cradle of Filth is a prime example)

Trancey technoey goodness that is somehow a blend of influences of modern dance music. He gently refines those trippy dreamy soundscapes that reminds me of Boards of Canada or Authechre, and then drops the Ibiza club Space indoor beat (those who know will know...), that thunders from the top of your head down to your feet, to move you like a monkey in a banana factory... Truly EPIC 'choons' if thats yer bag.

So I've just started listening to Wrath by Lamb Of God. I few friends recommended it to me, but I've never been a huge fan of the band, so I had no expectations.
The first three tracks are spectacular, but the album takes a dip after that for me. Grace and Dead Seeds are good, but the album wasn't the Revelation I was expecting after Set To Fail.
Still, as someone who was never a LoG fan, I thoroughly enjoyed Wrath. Undoubtedly their best album for me.

I only use Winamp for audio and syncing my iPod (screw iTunes, it's slow as hell).
For videos, I use Media Player Classic (with Klite codecs) or sometimes WMP 11 that came with Windows 7. Different videos work better on different apps for some reason.
BACK ON TOPIC:
I'm listening to anything death metal or anything that has polyrythms.
Mostly been listening to Nile, Animals as Leaders and Bulb's work. I have found two new awesome bands lately, namely Hour of Penance (http://www.myspace.com/hourofpenance) (a death metal outfit) and Antarctic (http://www.myspace.com/antarcticsounds) (a post rock band with a difference).

You guys?I've tried everything (AIMP, MediaMonkey, RealPlayer, Songbird (http://www.getsongbird.com/), iTunes) and I kept going back to Foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org/). It does what it says on the tin, does it without any fuss, and doesn't do anything else (and that's a good thing). If, like me, you've got a lot of audio files to manage (audio books, lectures, music, podcasts, etc.), you'll love the playlist tabs. The best feature, though, is how how it minimizes into your system tray and “boom!” it's gone, out of the way. I can't live without Foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org/). Oh, and mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/) for tagging.

I recently got into a band called Sylosis, and their album Conclusion of an Age is absolutely blowing my mind! It's the perfect Metal... And that's just what it is! It's not totally death, it's not totally thrash, it's not totally metalcore, it's just.... Metal!
The guitars are melodic, well written, aggressive (while in standard tuning too, a fact that I love!) and catchy, while still being heavy. AND, they've got some really catchy solos, y'know, like those classic 80s solos with quite a bit of whammy and lots of shredding!
The vocalist is amazing, he honestly outclasses most screamers (and singers) i've ever heard. Honestly, I think he's more talented than Phil in All That Remains, Randy in LoG, and Howard in Killswitch.
It blends fast thrash metal, melodic sing-along metalcore choruses, and really defined, catchy guitars into one amazing mixture!!!!

Why do you want a new album specifically? Powerslave and Number of The Beast (duh) are my personal two favorites, but from the newer stuff, Dance of Death was pretty decent!

Billy Joel: We Didn't Start The Fire.
Such a classic. I think it would be cool if someone did a cover with lyrics that are relevant to the last decade or so.
There's also a song I keep hearing on the radio. Something about "undisclosed desires" and "exorcise the demons from your eyes". That would be Tool, amiright? I quite like it, I think it's very poetic, and I like the guys voice.
I think I might buy the City Bowl Mizers album. I'm really enjoying the tracks I hear on the radio. Would be cool to see them live. Is it just me, or do all the best bands come from Durban? :D

I have started listening to internet radio again, mostly to just listen for new stuff. In particular I am loving hard drivin radio (http://www.harddrivinradio.com) One of the tracks being played fairly often that I really like is Five Finger Death Punch, specifically their cover of "Bad Company" off the album War is the Answer. I have only heard a few of their tracks so don't know whether to buy the album or not.
I also got a hold of a lot of Pendulums live sets and radio sessions which just simply kick ass.

The self titled vampire weekend album is probably one of my favorite albums of all time, and contra is a close second. the band is just so bloody awesome. Go give Walcott ( Vampire weekend) and Giving up the Gun (Contra)
After the Masterpiece that was WRATH I just had to get my hands on some more lamb of god. I got a copy of Ashes of the Wake and am loving it to bits.
Puritanical Euphoric Misanthro by Dimmu Borgir . Dimmu Borgir = Cradle of Filth X 4. Thank you brutal legend for introducing me to symphonic Black metal :)
Five Finger Death Punch's "new" album , War is the Answer, is pretty fantastic. I belive it's infirior to Way of the Fist as an album as a whole, but the tracks Dying Breed ; My own hell and War is the answer are defiantly worthwhile tracks.

Been listening to Everything Remains As It Never Was by Eluveitie. I must say that I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's a good album. The vocals on Evocation were what set Eluveitie apart from other folky bands for me. It seems that the new album has returned to the mediocre screamo vocals of the earlier albums. The instruments (especially flutes) are as amazing as ever. I guess I just really prefer the female vocals.
Anyone else listened to this yet?

Bullet for my Valentein at the moment, tears don't fall especially. Love the intensity of the song. H.I.M 's album Venus Doom , the vocals really good. Discovered some awesome Rob Zombie songs also.

Really digging Owl City at the moment. Some great indie music, with equally awesome lyrics.

Currently listening to Volbeat's album Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood. Man these guys are awesome, the lead singer reminds me a lot of Serj Tankian form System. Favourite track is "Still Counting" and "We" is also pretty awesome. I also got Five Finger Death Punch's War is the Answer. I haven't given it a full, proper listen yest but I like what I've heard so far. Their cover of "Bad Company" is really good, I actually prefer it to the original.
I am currently addicted to August Burns Red and As I Lay Daying, although Asking Alexandria is okay as well I guess.
I've also been listening to Therion lately and I must say, they are truely awesome! Symphonic Metal rocks, even though Therion's early stuff was Death Metal.

I'm enjoying Dizzee Rascal - Dirtee Cash. And Jay-Z latest album is growing on me. He still boasts about his money n crap which seriously rubs me the wrong way, but I like his tracks - he has certainly seperated himself from the crowd, and comes across as a true artist.

I'm listening to just one song at the moment: Mad World, Gary Jules' cover. Heard it on TV somewhere and I instantly fell in love with it. Rise Against - Savoir. This song has gotten me back into the Punk/ hardcore scene. Gets my blood pumping.
Avenged Sevenfold- City of Evil and the self titled. R.I.P Rev. Mike Portnoy From Dream theatre is doing the drums on the new album to be released this year.
Machine Head - The Blackening ( HMH album of the decade and Robb Flynn was 2009 Golden God )
I've been hanging out with a bunch of metal guitarists and have found a new appreciation for the complexity involved in writing good metal songs, But not only those fast "facemetlers" that everybody seems to go Crazy over, but everything involved with guitar. Would definitely love to learn at some point after drums.
I'm not sure if i ever posted the link to my band here, but yea. http://www.myspace.com/sandysuperstar We only have one song up, which sounds really Desmondy, but i would love to hear your thoughts. Be gentle :P

It seems like a strange coincidence that I have been listening to 2 different albums by cartoon bands, but they both do what they do best.
Dethklokk - Dethalbum II is fun (huh?) no brainer metal, with songs about deth, killing and mermaid murder. Skwisgar Skwiggelf is one of the greatest metal guitarists, shredding at a frantic melodic pace. Its just catchy, but borders on almost pop because its 'too digital....'. This has been on heavy rotation in my player until i saw this;
http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/gorillaz-plastic-beach.jpg
The Gorillaz relentless pursuit to innovate and release something truly creative has paid off with this new album. Plastic Beach. truly defines a 'genre' album in a genre all unto it's own. It's very hard for me to choose a track that I like more than the other, because this album can only be listened to in one sitting because you may miss something.
I may be gushing, but this is something special. The lore and fantasy allow for a dynamic audio and visual experience. It creates a perfect soundscape that paints your imagination.Even though 2D has been kidnapped, Noodles died and is now a broken robot, or that Murdoc is being hunted, they still managed to make an album that relates to war, consumerism and green issues. I suppose thats why they have so many guest artists; the band members are older, and not the same people they used to be.
I urge any lover of music to buy this fanciful indulgence of a madman and a genius.
I love it so much I want all 5 editions of the album because of all the cool goodies you get with it, and the fact that the album cover is shot at different times of the day.

The thing is, he's put so much effort into portraying it as a "band" with 2D, Murdock, Noodles and so on that you'd have to think he wants people to see Gorillaz as -them- and not him.
And hey, it's fun to image that, yeah, there's this cartoon band who make some of the best music on the planet every 5 or so years. They're not real, but it would be so totally awesome if they were.
I think that's the point of the whole Gorillaz phenomenon.

As an old Gorillaz/Blur fan I actually really dislike this album, maybe I'm backwards but I don't like the new style they've adopted. Demon Days and their debut EP were actually very good in my opinion, obviously I preferred the debut.
I'm currently watching the Cult Of Luna live DVD "Fire Was Born". It's not the best live show DVD I've seen but I just absolutely LOVE this band to bits.

Thanks, but I do know that ;p. I'm just playing into the whole 'cartoon band' thing. Even though it is just one person, (it could be fifty, to quote Albarn) the other characters were created to be part of the band, and that helps sell the idea that it is a band, even if it's fictional.

Legends of Soul - The Very Best Of: Aretha Franklin. I'm enjoying the upbeat songs like 'The House That Jack Built'. The soppy songs don't really do it for me, but I still appreciate that amazing voice!
I don't know how or why, but for some reason I had never heard of Linton Kwezi Johnson, until my mate brought it to my attention. Not sure what album it is because it is a pirate copy. I'll keep a look out for his stuff now though. His music is nice when you're chilling. And stoned out of your mind.
Basically just going off the usual stuff and trying something different. I seem to be enjoying older music a lot more. It's very interesting to go back to the roots and see the different influences on modern music.
For some reason the other day I heard Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock, and I thought it was awesome! So I'll give that a bash next I think.

Song For Cleomenes
73 years before the advent of the Christian era,
as Rome was taking over any land within reach,
setting up proxy governments in the conquered lands,
there lived one such man given just such a job.
Gaius Verres. go.
a praetor held a position which operated on trust.
he was to govern instead of the emperor himself.
it was an easy, easy privilege to abuse.
and Verres did so.
he was the governor of Agrigentum which we now know as Sicily.
and he stole everything that wasn't nailed down,
took improper advantage of other men's wives.
the list goes on. trust me.
Cicero wrote it all down.
at Syracuse Verres welcomed a band of pirates.
they all drank and danced and sang on the shore,
and when the husband of one of Verres's paramours
came bringing a fleet of boats with him,
Verres, clever, if diabolical, gave him a job.
and enlisted the pirates to burn the whole fleet down.
the boats burned in the Sicilian harbor,
the flames rose hundreds of feet into the air,
we stood on the shore watching them burn we stood,
on the shore, we heard the old songs. hey!

Ah, but you see, what sold me on JP is more the intense prodigy-esque DnB that his support guys totally nail. And shutting yourself off from many genre's just because they use technology is kinda silly. You may be missing out on some great music. That said, definitely not trying to convince you to like Jack Parrow, he is very much a tongue-in-cheek enjoyment of mine.

My tongue-in-cheek enjoyment is ABBA so I get where you're coming from, but I really just can't take the entire electro thing. I just gets to me. I just really can't stand the entire genre. Call me close minded, if you will.
Now we're talking. Black Rainbows (crap name) is out soon. You can check most of it out on their page. But despite how much C&C I listen to, the still haven't topped Welcome Home imo.
Somehow my favorite stays Running Free and obviously Favor House Atlantic. They've just got so much good music, especially once you get into it.

Been listening to a lot of trance, a lot of metal and a lot of Gorillaz.
Also some live stuff from a few awesome local metal bands:

I'm not really impressed with those local bands, too many local bands are doing the melodic, hardcore or deathcore thing. Seriously, they're in abundance here in Cape Town.
Here's something different, ING (Proper death metal from Cape Town). They gave me their CD for free at a gig once, it's pretty awesome. http://www.myspace.com/inghatesquad
Here are Cape Town's more decent melodic dm bands:

Yeah, dude, that's where you're wrong. Him and Max Normal's "Die Antwoord" spearhead the Zef movement, which is all about being lame and not taking yourself so seriously (rule #6).
Ah, well that puts a very different perspective on it.
Just a note: I still don't *particularly* like that type of Hip Hop, it's just, I don't know... obnoxious. Still cool for some easy listening though.

Would that be 'Diamond Eyes' and 'Rocket Skates'? If you had to choose just one, which would it be? I'm busy checking out Nokia Music Store.
Edit: Never mind, downloaded both of 'em. Pretty sweet. Funny thing, 'Rocket Skates' made me think of Bjork*. I love this guys voice.

His voice is stellar, took a few years to grow on me, but I love the eeriness of it. A guy at work just gave me a track called "You've Seen the Butcher". Wicked pace and chug to it. I love how they get such a rad sound without any technical lead. Just hard rif***e.

One of my all time favourite Hip Hop groups was Binary Star, unfortunately the duo only ever made two albums ('Waterworld' and 'Masters of the Universe') before they split. Since then one of the members, known as 'One Man Army', has changed his name to 'One Be Lo'. Right now I'm listening to a pirate copy of his first solo album 'S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M.' (Sounds Of Nahshid Originate Good Rhymes And Music). I'm loving it, but the problem is it's very difficult to find his stuff. I have found S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M on kalahari.net, but can't find any of his more recent albums:
S.T.I.L.L.B.O.R.N. (Something To Interest Lo Listeners Beyond Original Recorded Networkings)
R.E.B.I.R.T.H. (Real Emcees Bring Intelligent Rhymes To Hip-Hop)
He's also got another album coming out this year 'B.A.B.Y.' (Being A Black Youth).
So I'm wondering if anyone might know where I might be able to buy his stuff? The thing is I don't have the means to download, so it would have to be a hard-copy CD.

FTB is one of those songs that 99% of beginner guitarists learn to play, along with Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters (the number of times I've heard that song butchered escapes human comprehension) and for the fledgling metalheads (like me back in the day) Master of Puppets. Yoav (http://www.yoavmusic.com/). His first album (Charmed and Strange). Isreali/Capetonian/Canadian (?). This album is a one-man show; all his own vocals and guitar smooshed together in the studio to create something quite amazing. Influences of Depeche Mode, Bob Dylan and The Cure; ends up sounding something like Jamiroquai/Justin Timberlake (bear with me on this)/Bjork/Dylan/Radiohead/I dunno. It's vocal electronica something. Like one of those sounds that's really tough to put your finger on, but it's very relaxed for the most part, very interesting and stupidly addictive. Not my usual kind of music but a really cool vibe if you just feel like chilling out.
Anyway, check it out. Give it a few tracks to settle into your brain.

Judas Priest, Some classic metal. I really do prefer classic metal compared to the metal of today. I do like death metal and that, just not as much as the likes of Judas,Slayer and Iron maiden. But that's just me. Metal for me needs great solos, some of these death metal groups leave our solos and to me that is the best part of the song. But I am a old school metal head.

I am currently listening to Slash's new solo album, simply called Slash. I don't care what anybody says, Slash is right up there with Hendrix. Collaborating artists include Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmeister (from Motorhead), Dave Grohl, Kid Rock, Chris Cornell and Fergie. Personally, I think this album is awesome, if only as a display of of his absolutely sublime skills on guitar. Top tracks include "Watch this" featuring Dave Grohl and Duff McKagen, "Beautiful Dangerous" (with Fergie), "Starlight" (with Myles Kennedy) and "Saint is a Sinner Too" with Rocco DeLuca on vocals. Awesome album, if you are a fan of the original Guns 'n Roses then check this out.

*Tisk tisk* the endless possiblities of having games based on songs is, well, endless! If they (don't question who or what "they" are) are allowed to turn bad movies into games and get away with it (just look at *insert movie-based game name here*) then why not be able to make awesome games based on awesome song!? I'm confused what are we arguing about again?

Games based on songs would be awesome, but I'd rather vote for:
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Master of Puppets - Metallica
And most of all, a game (or series of games) centered around the music of Coheed & Cambria or Queen would be absolutely mind-blowing.

Arch Enemy and DevilDriver are getting more attention than usually this year. Also, I started listening to Dimmu Borgir last year, and giving them more of a shot this year. Their In Sorte Diaboli album in particular is getting a lot of attention. Especially the songs The Sacralegious Scorn, The Serpentine Offering and The Chosen Legacy (fastest drumming I've ever heard).
Enjoying DevilDriver's 2009 album, Pray For Villains, and can't wait for their 2010 album to come out (it's due out in October). Rediscovered a few songs I forgot about as I got older, like Papercut from Linkin Park and Show Me How To Live from Audioslave.

Cleric, just listened to your song "After Hope". To be blatantly honest, and this is just my opinion, the music is sounding really good. But, and for me it's a big but, the vocals are not sounding as good as they could be. I don't think it is a vocalist issue, I think it is a production issue. At times your vocalist sounds awesome while at others he starts to sound flat, like I said though, I think it is a production issue. Other than that it's sounding really, really good if you guys ever decide to do a tour down to CT lemme know, I'd dig to come check you guys out. Overall what kind of sound are you going for? I am definitely picking up a bit of (insert specific flavour) metal mixed with a progressive rock kinda vibe. Link to some more tunes please, just not last.fm, my account there is kaputten.

For those of you who are looking for hard-to-find music, have you tried buying digitally?
Yes, I know its not the same as having a physical CD, flipping through the booklet etc. But if it's hard to find, who not go digital?
For Nokia owners, you can try their online store, new albums cost R100. I buy some songs every now and again, download to my PC (you can listen to tracks on your PC by using the Nokia OVI Player), and transfer to my phone.
Then there's iTunes for Ipod owners, and there are a lot of sites where you can buy MP3s from (even Amazon is selling MP3s).

CCR is just legendary in general man. Fortunate Son is my personal favorite. Brilliant band!
In the spirit of exam time, and thus utter boredom, I waded through our CD collection again, and found some old albums that I hadn't listened to in a while. Boston, man oh man, Boston is awesome! I haven't heard Foreplay/Long Time in about 10 years, and now that I actually play music and appreciate it, I adore it. It shot up to my no.1 song of all time slot instantly. Awesome stuff.
Also, I discovered my old Greenday album, Dookie, which reminded me why I liked Greenday in the first place. They used to be a clear cut, solid sounding punk band. No super commercial Pop Rock. Aaaah, Basket Case, how you remind me of a time when the world was but a mere bunch of corporate douchebags, and Rage Against The Machine was a lifestyle, not a band.
Also found Guns 'n Roses' Appetite for Destruction. Slash is a legend man, and that is a legendary album. Paradise city, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child 'O Mine, all fantastic songs.

Guns 'n Roses, imo, has the best guitar solo of all time. Though I think Fort Minor's bass remix in the intro to SCOM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY8yStDiUTs) kinda sounds better. :P
Just thought I'd share what I found today. You know Dragonforce? Of course you do, well back in 2000 their guitarist formed a Ninja Metal band called Shadow Warriors (http://music.singemfrc.com/artist/dragonforce.html#ninja). Check out the link, their 4 songs (sadly only made one demo) are free to download.
However, if you already own Dragonforce's Ultra Beatdown, you can hear their work. "Feel The Fire" has been remastered and re-released as "Strike of the Ninja"

I've lately been listening to Asking Alexandria, and have fallen in love with their music.
Its Metalcore/techno and as strange as it might sound, its awesome.
The music is simple, but is so well written, it sounds amazing.
The vocalist can not only just growl and scream well, but can also sing very well.
I would recogmend you people to listen to it.
Start off with "If You Can't Ride Two Horses At Once....You Should Get Out Of The Circus"
Or "A Single Moment Of Sincerity"

RATM isn't reeeeally metal, but they are an awesome band. Sleep now in the Fire is one of the most powerful rock songs ever, and the music video was insane.
I love Kill 'em All as well Mr Krinkle, since Dave Mustaine was still the lead guitarist. He was (and to this day is) a much better, more skillfull and just all-round more badass guitar player than Kirk Hammet could ever wish to be. Kirk led Metallica to the whole bluesy (****) saga with Load and Reload. Metal Militia is my personal favorite off that album. That song made me do my first tremolo pick, and I dig doing it to this day.

I used to love angry metal (like Pantera's Walk, for example, it has great energy and the vocals are actually not as rubbish as most metal vocals are nowadays), but I just can't stand listening to metal these days ? it's either all emo or juvenile and stupid like bad hip-hop. My respect for the genre has gradually been lowering over the last couple of years. Sure, there are still a couple of fun bands, but overall the genre is pretty ****ty :/

I'm listening to a little bit of Pendulum and a lot of Equilibrium. Apart from the growling vocals I absolutely love their tunes (Equilibrium). Folk Metal is my new favorite music genre.

No, emo would be something along the lines of Videotape by Radiohead. When somebody comes up to you and say they want to cut you open like a ****ing pig do you honestly think they sit there at night crying and listening to " you're beautiful" By James Blunt.
It's all good that you don't like metal, it's your opinion, and yes most mainstream metal has forgotten the point of metal, but you really can't judge an entire genre on one or two popular bands like Korn, BMTH, Bullet or Killswitch. Metal is such a diverse genre and it's quite silly to say that "it's either all emo or juvenile and stupid like bad hip-hop..." It shows how much of the genre you have actually explored.
And please, share with me some angry lyrics then. Some genuinely angry lyrics.

Mostly been listening to the new Pendulum album, "Immersion". It is a little more melodic than their first two albums, even going so far as to incorporate a little synth work. To be perfectly honest, after In Silico, I was expecting more from them. Don't get me wrong, it is still an incredible album and it is still early days, but it was always going to be difficult to top "Propane Nightmares" and "The Tempest" from In Silico.
@Echo - If you are enjoying "folk-metal", check out a band called Volbeat. They play a fusion of early rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and rockabilly and are inspired by Metallica, Social Distortion, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. You may find something you like.

I've been listening to a lot of DragonForce lately. The face-melting solos are what hooked me at first, but I'm slowly learning to enjoy the vocals of ZP Theart too.
My favourites at the moment are:

• Strike of the Ninja
• Storming the Burning Fields
• Valley of the Damned
And I really enjoyed watching the music video of Heroes of Our Time. It's very well done imo:

Here is my fav song from slayer
1. Angel Of Death
[Lyrics & Music - Hanneman]
Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life
Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life's worth
Human mice, for the Angel of Death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood
Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race
Surgery, with no anesthesia
Feel the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death
Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
'Til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he's creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free
[LEADS: HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN]
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death
Angel of Death
And This song called my name is mud is just so strange
My name is Mud
Not to be confused with Bill or Jack or Pete or Dennis
My name is mud and it's always been
'Cause I'm the most boring sons-a-bitch you've ever seen
I dress in blue-yes navy blue
From head to toe I'm rather drab except my patent shoes
I make 'em shine, well most the time
'Cept today my feet are troddin' on by this friend of mine
Six foort two and rude as hell
I got to get him in the ground before he starts to smell
My name is Mud
My name is Mud, but call me Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie
That's long for Mud so I've been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold
I've got my pride, I drink my wine
I'd drink the finest except I haven't earned a dime in several months
Or were it years
The breath on that fat bastard could bring any man to tears
We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat
My name is Mud
This whole song is sang in a deep southern accent.

I'll Get You High (Live Bootleg) by Liz Phair
Saw your car, so I know you're here
It's been such a long time, looking totally weird
But I don't remember why
Pull the trigger and die
What a beautiful day for a drive
Not a cloud left in the sky
Why don't you give me a ride to the studio
I'll get you high
I'll get you high
[sung to the tune of the Flintstones theme:]
Bimbo, meet the bimbo
She's a modern stone-age family
Drowned out, thrown out of Glencoe
She's a face without a history
Now that cat will stay out for the night
Fred gets in a terrifying fight
We all back down and beg him not tonight
Come in the living room and dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
In that old familiar valley
Where I have dumped my heavy load
Mom and Dad sit back in the loveseat
From too much loss, from too much hope
What a beautiful day for a drive
Not a cloud left in the sky
Why don't you give me a ride to the studio
I'll get you high
I'll get you high
and Jeremy Engle also by Liz Phair
Jeremy Engle
Lives in a tangled
Rent controlled apartment
With his communist family
There are books all around them
The dining room table is lacquered
With news clippings
Yellowing badly
They argue at dinner
His brother's friends drop by
To throw a line in or two
About Tolstoy
They all play guitar
And they're all very far away
In their own minds
From the upper west side
Of manhattan
I never got past his
Googly eyes
That looked at me sadly
In mocking surprise
The way a lord looks at his placemat
Or a stain on his tie
It never happened for me
And Jeremy Engle though
Wanted to step through that portal
And try on that other dimension
Of high high browism
Jeremy's hair and brow
Grow very high
And no not I
I'm more of a napkin
Not blessed with the vision
Beyond how I'm matching
The china and wine
Now there are the Engles
Skewering men
And chewing through
Six pounds of venison
I bet they they shot up
In upstate New York
At their uncle's
Jeremy needs me
To wipe off his eye
Some gelatinous thingy
That his brother's rebuttaling
Mouthful let fly
Sometimes all you need is a napkin
Sometimes all you need is a napkin
I LOVE her early stuff!
Edit: Haha:
He said he liked to do it backwards
I said, "That's just fine with me,
That way we can **** and watch TV."

You Owe Me Nothing In Return - Alanis Morissette
I'll give you countless amounts of outright acceptance if you want it
I will give you encouragement to choose the path that you want if you need it
You can speak of anger and doubts your fears and freak outs and I'll hold it
You can share your so-called shame filled accounts of times in your life and I won't judge it
(and there are no strings attached to it)
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have
I give you thanks for receiving it's my privilege
And you owe me nothing in return
You can ask for space for yourself and only yourself and I'll grant it
You can ask for freedom as well or time to travel and you'll have it
You can ask to live by yourself or love someone else and I'll support it
You can ask for anything you want anything at all and I'll understand it
(and there are no strings attached to it)
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have
I give you thanks for receiving it's my privilege
And you owe me nothing in return
I bet you're wondering when the next payback shoe will eventually drop
I bet you're wondering when my conditional police will force you to cough up
I bet you wonder how far you have now danced you way back into debt
This is the only kind of love as I understand it that there really is
You can express your deepest of truths even if it means I'll lose you and I'll hear it
You can fall into the abyss on your way to your bliss I'll empathize with
You can say that you have to skip town to chase your passion and I'll hear it
You can even hit rock bottom have a mid-life crisis and I'll hold it
(and there are no strings attached)
You owe me nothing for giving the love that I give
You owe me nothing for caring the way that I have
I give you thanks for receiving it's my privilege
And you owe me nothing in return
Wow, what a great love song.

Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold;
Atreyu - Congregation Of The Damned;
Megadeth - Endgame
I cant stop listening to Blue October, check out these lyrics -totally intense
The End Lyrics
Here alone, standing barefoot in our lawn,
Worms squeezing their way through my toes
Tonight that's how it goes.
I'm at your window kneeling quiet,
I thought at least I'd maybe try to get your head right your heart right
"Let him go!"
Then through the glass I see your dress fall to the floor as he embraces every inch of you
The woman I adore.
I can't believe the way you're bending
Can't believe this neverending moaning asking him for more
Begging him for more
How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I have to fix this on my own
Replace my heart,
Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart,
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping.....end
I creeped in close enough to see the way he touched her,
From her feet across her knees, inside her sweetest spot
He pleased and pleased her.
I turned around and tried to take control, but no control was capable
It was a centerfold of how less than low can possibly go.
I squeezed the life into my brain
Like pushing knives into a vein
I've gotta get, I said I've gotta get inside
So to the back window I crawl in silent
Standing in the darkness of my living room
This used to be my home
How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I'm moving forward to the bedroom door
Replace my heart
Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping...end
I turn the doorknob with two fingers to be slow enough to sneak into the room among the corner darkness gloom
I had to see this happening.
He pushed himself so deep inside her clapping rang and bounced off every wooden walled room
And that's when all went silent blank except for the color red
As I walked calmly numbing paralyzed beside the bed
I said "I know I'm not allowed to be here. I just had to see how good your new man really ****s you. Cause you both been ****ing me."
"So now I planned the last thing you can both do as a pair
I tie both blindfolds tight around your ****ing eyes to blind your stare
I don't want to alarm you, but I figured we could end this in what seems easy quick and painless
Man, so I'll get down to business
I choose you first, there's a gun, it's at your head
So laugh at me one more time but keep your face inside the bed
You sit and watch me while I do this **** and learn from what I've said."
I ****ed the pistol pulled the trigger, and all I saw was red
How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I have to fix this on my own
Then the screaming oh the screaming
It's nice to see you scared
Of such a weak and stupid husband
Who knows you never really cared
I'll leave you with a question that I need to hear from your head
Was all this worth it knowing you have just seconds left to live?
Now think about your answer, as you lay face down on the bed
I ****ed the pistol pulled the trigger and all I saw was red
I gently stroke her arm as she lies lifeless on her back
Then placed the barrel in my mouth
All I saw was black.
