Heh, that's what consumerism breeds: people who expect things to make them happier. It's what they're told. And then they realise they've been constantly lied to. Makes em a bit bitter. Can't say I blame them.

Edit: this comment under the article summed it up nicely

Unrealistic expectations yield disappointment. We set ourselves up. Prior to the iPad launch the only thing that anyone at Apple "officially" said was that they were launching a new product that they were excited about. That's it. No feature set promises, no claims of game-changing miracles. The hype came from the trade and news media and the bloggers and the fanbois.

Did anyone expect Obama to miraculously heal a broken America in one year? I didn't. I voted for him knowing that his was the better of the two competing teams, fully expecting to be mad at him in a year. The only people calling him "messiah" and "savior" are his detractors, same as it ever was. Their projection of high hopes, intended as a taunt and a slur.

Assessment is a huge component of personal happiness. It's not a passive thing. Life doesn't get handed to us on a silver iPad.

Lower your expectations. Kill your inner spoiled me generation entitlement. We're actually very lucky, and life is actually pretty good.
