Thanks cc4Spawn for the idea to create a dedicated thread for this.

As you may realise, selling and buying second-hand tickets to the NAG LAN @ rAge is seriously frowned upon. Please report anyone attempting to do so here, or PM me if you'd like to remain anonymous.

I'll repeat what I've said before: if you have extra tickets that you need to get rid of, please contact Lauren Das Neves (lauren at nag dot co dot za) and we'll happily buy them from you for their original price plus shipping/delivery. We will then sell those tickets back to willing buyers for their original price.

Yes let us all unite and get rid of these scalpers trying to get there hands into the gamer community's pockets.
If you are buying tickets from scalpers then you are surly not a true gamer and a epiC fail to life.

It's fair to ask, so I'll answer. This isn't a discussion though, since we have already gone through this before.

In the general sense of this whole thing, we don't want our customers to be ripped off. It's against the spirit of gaming and damages the industry as a whole.

In more simple terms, if a LANner is coming to rAge short of the money he spent on a ticket sold at an inflated price (let's call it R600 for the sake of argument), then he arrives at our LAN with R300 less to spend on cool stuff at the expo. Obviously, that's bad for everyone. Instead, a scalper has an additional R300 in their pockets for doing absolutely nothing but taking advantage of a situation. A situation that they did not contribute to in any positive way.

In short, scalpers are the bottom of the capitalistic food-chain, and serve no purpose in economics other than to fatten their own wallets and drain money from the industry.

We are strongly against them for a number of reasons, and I personally think that what they do is disgusting. We'll never stamp them out completely, but we'd rather spend time hunting down any inflated ticket sales than have some poor kid who's been saving their pocket money all year but can't afford to attend rAge because some idiots don't have any decency.

Um cant you see the details on the ticket if he used a 3rd party program like paint or photoshop by removing effects or something like that, also another thing i think nobody should buy those tickets because that will mean they lost R300 of their own cash.

As far as I know there is no way to 'falsify' a 'computicket' ticket. Because they use a paper that is quite thick (but not as thick as thin cardboard) and aslo they have those 'holo' stickers on them.

So if people buy these tickets are ripped off prices then they are stuck with names of people on them that they do not know.

Heya Every1, hope I'm not reposting a suggestion, but is there not some way to sell NAGLAN/RAGE EXPO tickets like they sell airline tickets? The way i understand it, 'Every Man For Himself' or 'Free For All' so to speak, i.e. you can only buy a ticket for yourself, and any extra tickets you buy gets connected to a valid South African I.D. number. So the only way you can use the ticket, is if YOUR I.D. number is on it. In turn you won't get lame %$#*^)@ reselling tickets, makin tons of dough and stealing an epic xperience from those who really wanna go to RAGE!! Please don't hestitate to correct me if I'm in anyway wrong, but i reckon this could actually work??

I'm normally the go-to friend in my group that buys tickets for the group... but I'm willing to fore go the helping out of friends in future if the process to buy a ticket for rAge gets to the point whereby I can only buy 1 ticket.

In other words... if the system gets changed whereby I'll need an ID or parent to buy the ticket for me in order to screw over the scalpers... I'm for it!!!

In the past where I bought tickets and a friend could not make it... I would sell that ticket for the price of what was printed on the ticket and not for a cent more.

To the scalpers... may your Internet connection be slow and your children will never move out of your house.

So true been to RAGE for like the last three years and every year you will find by the saturday there are open seats, it doesn't mean its necessarily tickets that wasn't sold by scalpers, but i'm betting 90% of those tickets are due to scalpers that couldn't get there tickets sold at a 300% markup!!

I've bought myself a ticket every year for the past three years and have never been able to attend, due to 'sploding PC or exam timing, and I've sold them for the printed price, always at a last minute to people who were amazingly grateful that I had no markup when there were R1000 tickets being offered by scummy people.

Man the pitchforks, I support this thread :)

PS. This year is looking like I'll actually have a rig and time to go to the lan, but I was too late and have no ticket, lol.

some kid willing too pay R500 for a ticket on sybaritic forums, i mean come on, you knew the tickets went on sale at a specific date, you had more than enough time too make provisions too get a ticket.

I just hope the tickets sold where at the selling price of R300 and not for profit reasons and they will be used cause we want a full event not empty seats because of scalpers buying all the tickets.

I posted on some forums because I couldn't go to Computicket on the 1st, and a day later it showed 'performance sold out'.

Today I got this email:

"Hey, I have 3 tickets for sale at R600 ea
Let me know if you are interested"

My reply was that that seemed a bit excessive, and his reply was:

"Unfortunately at this point that is what I am after for them.
It seems as if that is around the going rate the moment though."

To me this is douchebaggy at best. Not only did he willingly and deliberately buy excess tickets, he also wants to sell them at 200% purchase price without even flinching.

But then you see posts like this on SGS:

"hey do u know of anyone selling a rAge ticket?

ill pay R550"

Last year I had two tickets but couldn't make it on short notice, and I sold them to the next guy for exactly what I paid for them.

That being said, I am perfectly willing to buy three tickets for myself and two friends, but not at rip-off prices.

Edit: I have sent the mail address of that person to GeometriX - it seems that guy is doing it on a regular basis...

I marked them all for deletion and i have heard back that a few have been deleted. If you come across these ads just report them to the site and they will get removed. I mentioned how the tickets were on computicket and that the seller is Ticket Scalping which is illegal.

Nope; it's first come, first serve. That means that you have very little chance of getting a ticket now (there's quite a list already), but you never know.

No, there aren't many legitimate cancellations, at least not that we see. I'm willing to bet that there are more, but they'll likely just sell their unwanted tickets to a friend for a small "handling fee." Those people who deliberately buy additional tickets purely for resale are the real problems.

We are getting a few unwanted tickets trickling in, so you might get lucky. The best advice I can give you right now is to get in place to buy your tickets really early next year :P

Oh I was in line early... if they'd been sold out when I went I would've killed someone!! I was there on the Sunday opening time! :) Its just anyone I knew wanting to go left it 1 day too late, 1 friend tried to book online but it didnt want to work and when he finally hit the computicket during lunch, he was out of luck! Crazy sell out this year! Should limit people to 1 ticket! else Imma have to mass buy next year for my friends and scalp them!! Nah they'd beat me down! But next year I'm definitely pooling all their cash and getting their tickets myself! Damn slackers! I'll charge them a handling fee of my food for the weekend!!

Just needs to have slightly stricter rules and the 5 max per person needed to be enforced. CompuTicket didnt enforce it so people were buying like 8 and 10 if not more to resell.

That last one on MyBB is two tickets for R750, if I read the ad correctly. Also looks like a last minute sale to me - no professional scalping there (the 50 bucks can go down as postage ;) ). I don't like it, but this guy is nowhere near the bastards that charge R700 for one ticket.

Hey guys,

You'll probably want to kill me for posting this here, but I have a ticket that I need to sell back for original price. I have mailed Lauren at: lauren@nag.co.za, but she replied stating that unfortunately it is too late for her to collect the ticket.

Long story short:
I wanted to go, but work got in the way - last minute thing. I couldn't opt out and all my friends that want to go already have tickets, so I need to sell/get rid of mine.

Hi guys, listen I understand that due to the scarcity and high demand for NAG LAN tickets it's easy for scalpers to sell their tickets at inflated prices but I find myself with an extra ticket right now that I sorely want to sell at the origional price since some unforeseen surcumstances has arrised last minute and I can't go anymore and don't want to lose the money I paid for the ticket. Now I'm getting the feeling that selling the ticket to you guys now (lauren@nag.co.za) might be too much of a risk since you might not feel you have the time to re-sell the ticket. If that's the case won't I be obliged to sell my ticket elsewhere?

Guys, we really do appreciate your efforts to contact us, sell your tickets for the original price and otherwise go about this the right way. Feel free to sell your tickets here now, as it's important for us to get as many people as possible at the LAN. Original price only, though. You may include whatever fees are necessary for shipping, but anything more than R50 is pushing it.
