What types and amounts of ore do you sell to make that much g?

Not much really. One stack of Obsidian was going for 500g on my server. Elementium was going for 800g a stack. That's not taking into account the green/blue gems and Volatiles I get from mining which I also put up. (Volatile Air was at 90g each).
Prices have gone down substantially now, but still high enough to turn a hefty profit. Vanity pets are selling really well, with the De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion going at a hefty 2.5k each.
EDIT: Bah. WoWhead plugin is gone :(

I don't know how anybody can't make at least 4k-5k on quests and rewards alike in the first week. I didn't replace my gear till I reached Uldum and by then I had raked up 2k in quest reward money alone and still had around 50-60 greens / blues to disenchant on an alt.

I was at my local branch earlier this week, the staff said their website was having some issues. Somebody on another forum said he only got a confirmation a week after he placed his order.
Maybe rather contact your local branch to check availibility.

I've decided to get the game for myself (used to play with a friend's account in the time when BC was still new).
Can anybody suggest a good server, with possibly a (relatively speaking) large number of SA folks on it?

I played on Sylvanas, don't know what is going on there now but it was constantly full and there was/is a SA guild on there.

Hey Negasta, as I mentioned in an earlier post my guild is on Kilrogg (EU) and we're trying to get as many South Africans together as possible to pull together an all-SA guild. Let me know via PM if you're interested or drop me a message in-game (Same nick). Horde.
This goes for the rest of you too. We're currently at 6 members and are in dire need of more Saffers - If you want to experience content with experienced raiders in a casual, fun environment, feel free to drop me a chat.
Edit: It does not matter if you wish to re-roll on our server, we're just looking for members at the moment and are willing to assist where possible.

Hey Nferno, what server are you guys on? I'm Alliance on Sylvanas but would love to roll a hordie on another server to get to know them a bit better and why the fraking rouges keep ganking me. :P
Edit : Oh got Cata forgot to take enough money for a game card though hopefully I have some free play time not going to drive there again.

I'm kinda ****ed now...
I finished installing all the expansions and now it tells me that I still need to download another 8.7 GB!!!
How can you need 8.7 GB worth of patches less than a month after release!? It'll take days to download.
At least I got uncapped recently.

10-12-2010, 07:32 PM
Holy...
I hope I don't have to download it. Is it just me or is this game taking ages to install, been busy for 30 minutes and only at 35%, it's probably because I didn't install lich king, my cousin in England bought it for me and it's still there. Thought I would see if it works, anyone know if it will?
Edit - just as I minimized my browser it went really fast from 35 to 68 and still going. He.

Weird. I had to download 700MB which was done in 10 minutes and I haven't played in months.... I'm about half-way to 81 and enjoying it. Its terrifying how easy it is to get back into the game...
The only problem I have is that I feel immortal on my mage (the character I'm leveling). He's not even well geared for level 80 (I stopped raiding with him after TOC HC).
Nferno
13-12-2010, 07:44 AM
Right. Sorry for the delays, you folks I promised patches, but I pulled all-nighters on woW this weekend and time went *swoosh* right out the ****ing window. Anyway, will be going back to Durban today so it won't be a possibility to get you guys the patches.
Yes, I know - I'm all fart, no ****.
Right! My thoughts on level 85:
I hit 85 on Friday night after taking my time with the quests and exploring the world. Managed to get some decent gear along the way and was able to do heroics as soon as I dinged...problem.
Heroics are not the faceroll dungeons they once were. CC is vitally important as the mobs do incredible gaddam damage. Healers go OOM 10% into bosses' health on heroics (much easier on normal) and because of that my poor Goblin Shaman has to fall back on the defensive foot and throw in a few heals for the tank.
First boss in the Lots City of the Tol'vir is ****ing insane. The tactics have to be followed precisely and executed perfectly or else it's a guaranteed wipe for the whole group. The damage encountered in that boss is like nothing I've ever seen before with tanks going down faster than than the Hindenburg.
2nd to last boss in Deadmines heroic is bat-**** crazy too. If you know of the Fire boss in Wintergrasp raid, you'd know that you have to kill the fire elementals before they explode, wiping everybody. Similar mechanic to that, with the boss spawning spirits which have to be DPSd down before they cast a spell, killing everybody. Have not been in a group that can manage to burst the Spirits down in time and must have gone through hundreds of gold on repairs from that boss alone.
So throughout all of this, with healers struggling to keep anybody up 80% of the time, I wonder to myself: is this healing design flawed? All the signs point to that, with every healer in every heroic complaining about mana issues. Throughput is greater than it's been before, but mana-regen and the general high cost of heals makes it really challenging. I mean, really, really challenging. Healers go OOM right into the beginning of the fight and because of that, well....people die.
The healers are far from crap, it's just that healing is way too difficult. I've spoken to almost every healer I've run with and this is not their idea of "fun" as intended.
PvP:
Tol Barad is ****ing awesome. Not much more to say other than that! It's similar to Arathi Basin, but on a much larger scale.
Enhancement Shaman are really shining this expansion with survivability back on the table. Damage output is crazy and you'll feel like a god in a battleground, since it's so easy to stay alive.
One-on-one? No problem! Just drop yer totems, pop your wolves and not much can bring you under 80% HP.
More than one target on you? Bit off more than you an chew? Pfft. Ghostwolf your way outta that **** and cast spirit-walker's grace so you can throw yourself some Healing Surges while you retreat. With Earthbind behind you, not many classes will be able to catch you.
I also have to download 9 gig BUT I just said **** it and clicked the wow.exe and I'm playing.
I started by running wow through the launcher and made my worgan(my game was up-to-date) while the game was loading it said something about needing to DL content(was about 200mb) and started playing... BUT then some hours later I exited the game and wanted to play further It gave me the 9gig DL thing... just start the game with the wow.exe and see it that works
"so you into furries?" BEST JOKE EVER!

The launcher says that it needs to download 2 gigs, then the game will be playable while it streams the rest. That's pretty cool, but I'm on 3G the whole lot would cost nearly 2 grand.

Nope there's usually a icon that shows when the game is downloading data and I'm using 3G so I know how much mb I'm burning through. that little latency icon thing shows that my game is 100% complete to.

I'll be getting into WoW again as soon as my account is unbanned. I got hacked and banned a year ago, and I never figured that getting Blizzard to unban it would be so difficult.
When I do, I'll either be leveling my pally (Dawn) to 85 on Draenor, or my lock (Elevion) to 85 on Stormrage.
No I found the battlechest with everything apart from Cata for about R210
If I may ask, where?
Does anyone play on a 512kbps or lower line? When I was still playing I was on 4Mbps, but I've recently downgraded. Does performance in raids and Battlegrounds take a hit?
Also, is Mweb Uncapped decent for playing?

I would also like to know where you got that battlechest, one of my friends did the 10 day trial and she likes the game now. I play on a 384 line with an average ping of 460. I haven't done a battleground in more than a year but back then my ping was around 700-800 it is quite bad.

It's perfectly fine on a 384 line. I can MT heroics and raids perfectly, granted nobody else is Facebooking/downloading/etc. at the time.

25-mans as well? I can't wait to play WoW again. Always a bad sign...
When I played WoW I always used LowerPing. Its a proxy service, very easy to set up and safe as well. For PvP or 25 mans I would highly recommend it. My ping would average around 250, and for PvP the difference between say 500 and 250 is canyon wide.
It comes with a trial version so you can test it, but disconnects itself every 30 min. The sub price for the full version is around R50 a month. Well worth it if your in anyway serious about the game.

Yeah, the only problem I faced with 25 mans was fps lag but that's because my pc is giving up the ghost. Otherwise everything runs smoothly, never had a problem with pvp either.

25-mans always cause ****ty frame rates. I remember on Koralon I was healing at one frame per second. Thank the heavens for Healbot.
It scares me to think how people did 40-man raids back in the day.

It scares me to think how people did 40-man raids back in the day.
A vanilla 40-man raid was less graphically-intensive as the new 25-mans. Keep in mind that back in vanilla, there were no fancy shaders and textures, sun shafts and particle density. If I recall correctly, if your PC could handle Warcraft 3 fine then 40-mans were doable.
Only in later expansions and patches they started to patch on all the bells and whistles which cause framerate problems today.
Karuji
26-12-2010, 12:43 PM
Yep, 40 mans were never a problem, and that was when I was running a GeFore 5700. And in all honest 500 ping is dealable. I used to main heal MC (Molten Core)with a 600 ping, this was on a 512k line back in 2006 though, so I'm guessing it has changed a lot.

How does online gaming chew on your data cap??
Nferno
07-01-2011, 09:44 AM
Well, depends on what you're playing. I use my cap (3G) for both work and gaming so my usage varies, depending on what I need.
Usually, if I put in 2gb of cap, I'm able to play WoW and XBL and still have enough to get through e-mail correspondence with attachments. Never hosting XBL games as it chows my cap faster if I do.

So here's a question.
I wanna switch servers and need some help.
Is it possible to play on more than one server ?
I know of you switch servers you start off from scratch, but if I switch back to the other server are my old characters still going to be there ?
also, how much does it cost to transfer characters from my current server to a new one ?
appreciate any help thanks :)
Aesir
10-01-2011, 10:59 AM
Yes you can play on more than one server.
Yes your characters will still be there on the old server.
€20 for a transfer.
# he paid character transfer is not immediate and will take several days to complete because of the approval process involved. Your character will NOT be available for play during this time.
# Each character you transfer costs €20.00 This covers the character's ONE-WAY TRANSFER to a new realm, a new account, or both at the same time.
# Your character will not have any guild affiliation upon arrival at the destination realm.
# Each character may only transfer once every 3 days.
# You will need to rename your character if his/her name is taken on your destination realm.
# Character transfers between accounts are subject to restrictions.

Well, it depends on what you plan on doing or how your play-style is. Basically, it always boils down to gear - that's what World of Warcraft revolves around. How accessible gear is should be your question, which I'd have to say, in this expansion is very easy.
Ok so now I wanna start updating before I activate my game cards, but when I ran the launcher after a while it said my installation is broken and I should run the repair.

Ouchie. I ran the repair tool once and it had too REPATCH WOW FROM VANILLA. Crazy amount of downloading.
Depending on the severity of the issue, you may not have to re-patch, but don't rule that option out yet.

EDIT:
Ok so I hope someone reads this.
I just started my Worgen Warrior and Troll Druid.
First time playing both obviously, the Warrior seems simple enough, but anyone got tips for how to play a decent Feral and later healing druid (for my dual spec).
I'm feral at the moment and I don't know how to gear, I'm guessing anything agility considering that that's what they're telling me to do with the cat form, but what about bear form, and what about my healing dual spec later on ?
Will I just have to have 2 sets of gear the whole time ?

Well, dude. What kind of Feral druid do you want to be? Kitty or bear?
As kitty, your stats to keep an eye on are Agility (priority), Crit, Haste and Mastery. Expertise and Hit are very important, but only until you reach your respective cap at your level, then you don't have to worry about it.
Bear feral requires pretty much the same gear, but emphasizing more on Avoidance and Stam. So pretty much similar stats, but priority to get your dodge rating up and stamina. Also, hit is vital, regardless of what spec you play.
Both feral specs have very different speccing options, so you can't be both a kitty feral and bear feral as you'll be missing out on key-talents for that particular form. Bear for tanking, kitty for rogue-like DPS, so decide which route you want to take before you spec/gear yourself.
You will need a separate set of gear for Resto, yes. Intellect + Spirit Gear for Resto, in case you were wondering. Haste is a decent stat as well, not too sure about Resto Mastery usability.
Boggle24
12-01-2011, 10:30 AM
There's the rub, I love being DPS and have only ever played DPS.
But I -really- wanna try tanking and healing for a change so I'm thinking I might just go for Bear form, plus Bear at the moment (only lvl 16 though) seems to actually do more damage than my cat form.
think I'll make a priest for DPS at some point, just don't want to get into too many characters, wanna try and get one of my characters up to lvl 80+ before my two months are up.
Also, I love how Guilds work these days, I come back and everything is different, the perks are awesome :D
EDIT:
Another question.
Can't I also just reset my talent tree and go in the other Feral direction if I want to at any time and sort of switch between the two ?
You say Bear and Cat feral requires pretty much the same gear anyway right ?

Can't I also just reset my talent tree and go in the other Feral direction if I want to at any time and sort of switch between the two ?
You say Bear and Cat feral requires pretty much the same gear anyway right ?
Sure, that works. The gear hardly differs before 70.
Guys, I seem to have a problem. Right, so I have WoW installed up to 4.0.0 and it updated to the next version just after that. Now it says I have to download 8.5gb before I can play, WTF! is it a patch or something? This sucks!
edit: WoW folder sits at 17.2gb
Sounds about right. I'm on 29gb at the moment.

Well, it depends on what you plan on doing or how your play-style is. Basically, it always boils down to gear - that's what World of Warcraft revolves around. How accessible gear is should be your question, which I'd have to say, in this expansion is very easy..
Hmm, Sounds better than it was in Wrath, but I have decided to give EVE online a try, and enjoying it a lot. I got 30 days free so I'll see after that, If EVE doesn't last, I'll prob give WoW another go :)

During Wrath my ping was average 700-800 now it's 300-400 90% of the time, I wonder why, not that I'm complaining.
I recall mentioning this not that long ago......Use Lowerping it works. It has a trial version that disconnects every 30min, if you're not prepared to pay the sub you can get by on just the trial.

Yeah Ive got a paypal account, needed to use my brothers credit card to make it though as I never bothered to get my own. I would highly recommend borrowing a family members card if you don't one to make the account. The R50 a month it costs is so worth it. My personal enjoyment of the game increased drastically when I was playing with a ms that averaged around 250.

There is no way of timing it, Ollie. If he is in the zone and you are in it - you will be fried. There won't be an opportunity to run away. The same goes for getting caught in it - If you aren't in the zone when he does a pass, you won't be able to get there in time.

Truth be told it is happening to me as well. Same as you, just when I go to world it kicks me out and says "You have been disconnected from server", usually I have to load it two to three times before it goes into the world (of warcraft, lulz). When I'm in game I get severe lag spikes, often lasting almost 2 minutes (don't get kicked though), I just spam my attack keys and after the spike is over either I am dead or the creep.
It's been the worse the past 2 weeks though, Blizzard broke our game. :(
But it work fine if I use the 3G?!?!

Yes! Luck of the Draw wasn't affecting Cataclysm dungeons and is getting fixed in next patch. Not only that, but it's getting jacked to 15%!
In case you aren't already aware, Luck of the Draw is the name of the buff you get for grouping with random people using Dungeon Finder. It currently provides a 5% buff to damage, healing, and health if you have at least one random player in your group. With patch 4.0.6, we are increasing this buff to 5% damage, healing, and health per random player, up to a maximum of 15%.
In the process of working on this change we actually discovered that the Luck of the Draw buff has not been working in Cataclysm at all, save for a few specific dungeons. This means that the difficulty in almost all normal and Heroic dungeons for those using the Dungeon Finder tool was higher than expected. Still, with that issue corrected in 4.0.6, we feel the bump up to 15% for three or more random players found through the Dungeon Finder is a necessary change.
The intent of Luck of the Draw is to help make up for the lack of coordination, communication, and familiarity that pick up groups suffer relative to organized groups of guild members and friends. Cataclysm dungeons, especially on Heroic mode, are quite challenging and ask for more group organization than the Wrath of the Lich King dungeons did. Therefore, Luck of the Draw became relatively weaker in Cataclysm. I'm painting the picture with unfairly large brush strokes here, but in general, Heroic dungeons are of appropriate difficulty for organized groups, but just brutal on Dungeon Finder groups. Players wonder, and rightly so, why Dungeon Finder supports Cataclysm Heroic dungeons at all when the chance of success is so low.
We think buffing Luck of the Draw is a good way to go about correcting the difficulty differences because it makes things slightly easier on PUGs without depriving the organized groups of a fun challenge. We also think the bonus is modest enough that it won't encourage organized groups to split up and just PUG instead - - the success rate for PUGs relative to organized groups is just that far behind. We still think you'll have more fun and a greater chance of success running dungeons with friends, but when that isn’t possible, we hope this change will make Dungeon Finder a more pleasant experience. Also remember that patch 4.0.6 is adjusting the difficulty of some bosses that are particularly unforgiving, such as Ozruk in Heroic Stonecore, though to be fair, we are buffing some underperforming encounters as well. In addition, we are offering larger Justice Point rewards for players who just prefer the faster pace and greater success rate of normal dungeons, and by the time 4.1 comes out everyone will have access to more powerful gear, making the older content even easier. But then there'll be new challenges to face!
We'd like to thank everyone who has provided us with feedback. We do listen, even if we don't immediately deploy every design change suggested by the player community. Our intent is to make the game fun for a wide variety of players, which can be quite a challenge when you have a community this large and this varied. We hope you continue to enjoy the game, and look forward to sharing more changes (and a few surprises) in the months ahead.

With Cata I wouldn't say it's impossible to go up 50 levels in less than a week if you play a lot.
How much has the fun-factor gone up since Cata came out? Back when I played WoW it always felt as if the game was continuously preparing me to have fun, but the fun never actually came. Proabably the most fun I had with WoW was the battlegrounds, and unless you're twiniking, not even that was quite as fun as it should've been.

I would classify myself as a fast leveler, so I really didn't play too much. Cataclysm has made leveling much faster than what it used to be.
This morning before school I was level 47, quickly did a random battleground, leveled me up to 48. Then just did a few quest and another battleground this afternoon and I was 50.
The new Cataclysm quests are AWESOME. There was this group of drunken guys in badlands, each telling a story of how they killed Deathwing that you get to play out. Cinematics included.

So, I started playing World of Warcraft again! I just needed something to hold me off until Friday when Deus Ex hits the shelves and...well, that kind of spiraled into something uncontrollable and the beast was awoken once again. Why, oh why didn't I take the blue pill?
I bring news from the lands of Azeroth, with a new patch on the horizon.
Patch 4.3's going to make us it's bitch with the final raid having the big guy, Deathwing in it. New instances! A new caverns of time instance and 2 other unknown ones!
Transmo...what?
Transmogrifier. What a nifty word. A word typically used to describe... changing the appearance of your gear? Sure, I'll bite.
This in-game feature lets you change the appearance of your current gear and lets them retain their current stats.
Players won't be able to change the appearance of their armor into another armor type or class armor set, and you might have to own the armor before you can use it to swap the appearance of your existing armor.
So that means you better get your guild together and start running Naxx all over again for that bitchin' T7 set. (I still have mine, so nyan (http://nyan.cat/) to you).
Which goes together with the Void Storage!
Which is a bank for gear. No, nothing else. That's it. It's a bank specifically made to store other gear sets so it doesn't clog up your personal bank. Pretty neat idea. Still waiting for my tabard tab *shrug*.
Raid finder!
It's like the Dungeon Finder...for raids! So brace yourselves for many failed raids and frustrations caused by new players in your raid! Yay!
Darkmoon Faire!
Appears to be leaving the Tauren foothills and getting their own island. Think of all the activities we could do?! We're going to get so much done now!
No, really, activities. They made mention of a few quests that can be done there, so I'm assuming dailies will be added to facilitate getting Darkmoon rep.

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry! Step right up and prepare to be amazed!
It’s incredible! It’s unbelievable! You’ll be dazzled. You’ll be amazed! You aren’t prepared for the Darkmoon Faire, ‘cause it’s like nothing you’ve seen before! Don’t be shy now, don’t be bashful, step right up for a tantalizing glimpse of what we’ve got in store for you when patch 4.3 arrives!
That old thing?
No, no, no, Clem. The Darkmoon Faire isn’t what it used to be and it isn’t where it used to be. The management hasn’t changed but the Faire certainly has. It’s a whole new animal. Tickets? You don’t need those old tickets, just rip ‘em right up, ‘cause we’ve got new tickets! Out with the old, in with the new -- new quests, that is! Things have changed ‘round here: we’ve got an island all to ourselves now, and what an island it is. Mist-shrouded Darkmoon Island is a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. It’s a place of mystery and wonder, and you wouldn’t believe the deals we made to get it… or who we made ‘em with. But never mind that, just follow me right through here and I’ll show you what the Darkmoon Faire is all about.
All new! All spectacular!
Catch a show at the marvelous main stage or witness a dazzling fireworks display. But don’t stare too long or you might miss the stunning spectacles that surround you. Gaze in awe of our magical menagerie, get your fortune told by the amazing Sayge, go on a pony ride, experience the healthful effects of carnival food, and more!
Of course, there’s more to the Darkmoon Faire than just fantastic shows and culinary delights. You can still turn in your Darkmoon Cards, but you wouldn’t just come here for measly ol’ cards when there’s so much more to see, experience, and win. Yes, win! You like dancing bears, right? Everybody likes dancing bears. Even bears like dancing bears. How about a dancing bear… you can ride!
That’s not all! We have adorable companion pets includin’ a fez-wearing monkey, a plethora of profession recipes, toys, balloons, souvenirs, delectable carnival snacks and beverages, heirlooms for the little ones, and even replicas of long-lost suits of armor that we’re offering for your Transmogrification needs. You can also make your mark with new achievements and titles. All it takes to earn these fabulous rewards is a few Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets and a good reputation with the carnies. How do ya get your grubby mitts on some tickets? I’m glad you asked!
Step right up! Try your luck! Everyone’s a winner!
Have we got games? You bet we’ve got games, and they’re so easy to play an orc could do it. Just head on over to the midway, buy some Darkmoon Game Tokens, and get ready to play. Easy to learn, difficult to master, anyone can play and everyone can win. Just lay your tokens down for a chance at winning Darkmoon Prize Tickets playing games like Whack-a-Gnoll, the Tonk Battle Royale, the Cannon, Ring Toss, the Shooting Gallery, and more! Five games are there to test your skills at any one time. The better you play, the easier it is to win a bucket of Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets! Once a month, you’ve got a shot at tickets, and the fun never stops ‘cause you can play as many times as you like. But that’s not the only way to win big!
The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide
It’s your passport to riches, my friend. Y’see, we need a few things -- just some junk, nothing valuable to a big hero like you. We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too!
Oh, did I mention that you can use the Field Guide to get to Darkmoon Island whenever the Darkmoon Faire’s monthly extravaganza is up and running?
So, you want to work in show business?
Maybe you’d like a little peek behind the scenes, eh? Want to see what it takes to run the greatest show on Azeroth? Well, it’s not all sunshine and cotton candy, my friend. There are beasts to heal, food to cook, and buildings to fix. If you’re willing help keep the show going and put your skills to work, you’ll not only impress us, but you can get experience, Darkmoon Prize Tickets, and even polish up your skills -- up to five skill points per profession, per Faire week, if you’re good at what you do!
Darkmoon Deathmatch!
Like any good carnival, the Darkmoon Faire has a shady side. You can leave the skilled labor to the suckers and go for a faster score instead. If you’ve got the minerals, the Darkmoon Deathmatch offers an experience unparalleled since the Gurubashi Arena. Pitmaster Pei has a big old treasure chest just brimming with goodies and Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets that he’ll drag out into the Darkmoon Deathmatch Pit every three hours or so. Everybody wants it, so if you want a piece of the action you’ll just have to jump in and prove that you’re the toughest one in the Pit.
Oh, the Faire is perfectly safe, Clem. Just don’t wander into the woods.
Now, now, don’t panic. Darkmoon Isle might be a bit spooky, but except for the Deathmatch Pit, the Faire itself is completely safe, I guarantee it. It’s a sanctuary even, and we won’t let anybody’s beef ruin the fun. The shadowy woods surroundin’ the fair are another thing entirely, though. I wouldn’t say that people have disappeared into those woods never to return, but, well… people disappear into those woods never to return. So watch your step , and your back, when you leave the Faire. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!
Mark your calendar
Now that you know how amazing the new Darkmoon Faire is, you won’t want to miss it. Just take a look at your in-game calendar, and the Darkmoon Faire dates will show up there on the first week of every month. Darkmoon Faire barkers and displays will also pop up in every capital city to herald the arrival of the Faire. Silas Darkmoon himself has even started up a mailer to make sure that no one misses out!
Hitch a ride
During the first week of each month, convenient Darkmoon Faire outposts with Darkmoon Portals will appear in Elwynn Forest and Mulgore, offering free rides to Darkmoon Island and the Faire!
Darkmoon Mages in capital cities and on Darkmoon Island will also be around to help you get between the Faire and various capital cities. There’s no such thing as a free lunch, so naturally you’re obliged to compensate them for their services.
The all new Darkmoon Faire is coming to Darkmoon Island in patch 4.3. Don’t miss it!

Okay so I finally caved to the collective cries of all my friends who plays WoW. BUT I am first going to try the Cataclysm free trial I got with Starcraft 2.
Everything installed fine and I was playing okay (lvl 11 Paladin)then all of a sudden, every time I try to log in, the screen gets stuck on "success".
I have tried EVERYTHING! I was on Blizzards forums, browsed propably over half the net, and phoned mweb and telkom about the problem and all their solutions are not working. Funny thing is my steam also doesn't want to log in again. Has anyone here had this problem and, if they were able to get past it, what did you guys do to fix it? I can log in after 11pm at night for some unknown reason on tuesday but now I'm not having any luck at all :(
It's a shame too because I actually enjoy WoW in a weird way.

I've had this problem in the past as well as several people I've played with. If you have a different connection available eg. a cell phone you can use as a modem, I suggest you try that first to see if your connection passes. It happened to me a $h1t load when i was using vodacom and especially when the clock struck 20:00. Anyway. I'm guessing you've already deleted the cache folder and all that bla bla. If you didn't, do it and let your game re-cache everything including your character data. If it still doesn't work after you tried this then copy one of your buddies copies from their PC after deleting your own. You can also re-download the game(I'd rather kill myself than resort to that crap, but hey, If you have the absolute patience of a dead watchdog, then go ahead and try it. But only as a last resort.)
If all this fails then I'm guessing your dead out of luck, because this helped me, most of the time. Just like the cause was my connection, most of the time.
Hope you come right.

Thanks a bunch. None of that worked but the thing I tried today, did work. I forwarded the ports necessary for steam through the router settings and it's ip. It then connected and everything's working fine now. Weird hey?

I joined a very laid back guild, was awesome when I joined and still is I suppose. We didn't raid much, but with a little dedication and lots of time, you'll be able to get the best gear in the game by only doing 5 mans every day. Damn I miss it... Have 3 lvl 85's and a lot of gold. Haven't played in 6 months. Can't wait till I get my PC. ;'( *sob*
I see they automatically upgraded everyone who didn't own it to Wrath of the Lich King when Pandaria released. Pretty nice of them, if you ask me. Busy redownloading now. No idea why, seeing as last time I played this game I told myself 'never again,' but eh.

They upgraded everyone to Cataclysm or WOTLK?
They upgraded every1 to WOTLK, but if u are looking to play again(this is a message to any1) Just PM me, and i will send u a scroll of resurrection, which gives you a free upgrade to cataclysm
Seriously dude? I'm literally sitting on the Battlenet site, moments away from resubbing. How does this Scroll of Resurrection work?
Edit: Sent you a PM.
Thanks to zAnd for sending me the SoR. Now I'm just patiently waiting for it to arrive. :P
With regards to the level 80 thing, do I have to choose a character to level up immediately upon receiving the SoR, or can I enter the game and create a character first? Reason being I've only got a level 52 Paladin and level 8 Rogue on my current account. I would prefer to manually level the paladin to 80, and I don't particularly want a level 80 rogue either. Would prefer to make a Worgen that gets levelled to 80 instead. :P
Sorry for the late reply, zoop - if memory serves, you will be able to boost a char whenever u want, u just need to log in on the web, and do it from there

As far as I know you can use the scroll to create a character of your choice.
Which realm are you playing on, zAnD?
I'm on Twilights Hammer EU, migrated there from Frostmane after the queues became unbearable when MoP was released.
Sadly im on Alonsus EU. I absoluteley Hate it, because the economy is so bad, but i wont transfer chars because i have too many just to move over to a different realm, and cant afford to move them all.....

So, here's my thoughts since playing it since the expansion launched:
Firstly, the thing I usually look forward to before an expansion is the pre-launch event. Blizzard have previously done some very fun things, such as the AQ quest lines, the BC Dark Portal event (Kruul appearing in cities, destroying everything), the WoTLK Scourge Event (Friggin' zombie apocalypse - so much fun!) and to an extent, the Elemental Invasion before Cataclysm came out. These are important, once-off things which every player looks forward to, but what did this expansion bring? ****all. Nothing. No pre-launch event, no great big commotion, just log in and receive a ****ing quest. How fun.
Regardless, Blizzard has stated that they didn't do a pre-launch event due to putting time into the content. Well, that's fair, right? I mean, they must have really changed the levelling experience since they skipped one of the most fundamental drawing points to an expansion. I couldn't wait to check it out.
I accepted my quest and began my journey to the land of the Panda bears.
Firstly, holy **** there are a lot of cut scenes and cinematics. You don't even really get to play for the first 30 mins, just have to endure the lore and get a grip of why exactly you are there.
So why are you there?
Well, it's simple. The Horde heard of a new land, they wanted to beat the Alliance to laying claim to it and one thing led to another, aerial battle ensues and you crash land on the island. That's pretty much it. No end of the world. No great evil to stop. Just "Oh ****, we stumbled across this land, so we might as well check it out.". It's lackluster.
The zones are gorgeous though. They went with an Asian setting this expansion and it really reflects on the game. Beautiful model designs and landscapes, nice monster and mob models and everything has an overwhelming color that radiates from it. It's crisp and colourful, and asian. Very Asian.
So after I picked up my jaw from the aesthetics, it was time to get down and do what World of Warcraft is mostly about: Grind. The first level came quickly and I was 86 before I knew it. However, after that, it slows down to a crawl. By the time I was 89, I was burnt out. As much as I was fond of the aesthetics, I grew sick of them. There didn't seem to be much variety between the zones, and while each one had it's own "Theme", they were basically pretty much all the same. Trees, cats, ****ing Pandas everywhere.
I hit 90 in about 5 days of casually levelling and taking in the lore. One thing I must hand to Blizzard is that they sure made the quests a lot more engaging, it felt more of a story this time than it did previously, but that was mostly to establish the background of the specific characters in the expansion and didn't really do much in terms of making you understand what your importance in this place was or whether you even cared or not. The quests had their good and bad and while the majority of them were still "kill this, fetch that", the delivery seemed to have improved and it made the plot easier to follow.
Now that I was 90, the game could begin!
...or so I thought.
Nay, my brothers. One does not simply walk into Pandaria. No.
Dailies.
I don't know where Blizzard got this stupid **** idea that after a week of non-stop questing, the players would want to quest some more, so they created a system where it's pretty much mandatory to get reputation to buy gear in order to raid, and in order to get reputation, you have to do dailies. So you finish questing, hit 90, and....well, continue questing. Ain't that a bitch?
But wait, there's more!
There's a ****house of different factions you need to get reputation with as each offer different items you may need, but you can't grind out the rep for a faction you need. No, first you have to do the dailies to get Revered with a faction that UNLOCKS MORE DAILIES TO DIFFERENT FACTIONS! So it's a "yo dawg" situation. We herd u liek dailies so we put dailies in your dailies so you can quest while....ah **** it, Pandas.
Here I am now, exalted with the factions that I needed to get with and I have cleared all the content that I can now. I still have no idea what I'm really doing in this place, or why I should care about these overgrown Koalas. I don't care why I'm killing bosses in the raids other than for loot and I'm sure as **** that I never want to see another yellow question mark again.
So my personal opinion?
It's okay. Don't expect anything mindblowingly cool. It's still World of Warcraft. You're still killing virtual dragons for purple pixels. You're still going to collect and kill a lot of crap and you're still going to argue with the Hunter that ninja'd your loot.
Edit: I posted this in the wrong thread, so just to be clear, I was talking about Mists of Pandaria. :P

I was thinking how I could have missed all this in Cataclysm... :P
Even though I don't play WoW any more it's still nice knowing what is happening with the game, personally after Cataclysm and grinding for that damn Archaeology sword (Which I never got even after a million solves) I swore I would never play the game again.
I must say sometimes I want to get back into the game as it is fun but after reading your summary I think I'll stay WoW free a little longer.
Thank god I finally got out of Outland. Can anyone say snoredom? Did the first area's quests and got so bored I decided to do dungeons to get to level 68 just so I can go to Northrend. At least Northrend's quests are a lot better and actually manage to hold my interest.
Also, my level 80 toon. I kinda screwed him over. I abandoned my quests in the underwater zone for some reason, and now I can't find the questgiver again. XD
Probably going to have to skip the underwater zone and just go through with levelling up in dungeons again.

Hey Zoop, what server do you play on? Maybe I can transfer one of my characters over and we can tag-team the content. Levelling goes so much quicker that way.
Regarding the 80 in the Vaj'ir (underwater zone). You can pick up the quest for the other zone called Hyjal on a notice board in one of the main cities, because levelling to 85 purely on dungeons will really burn you out. :P

My migration from Frostmane was free for all my characters, it seems to be a thing they offer from time to time with different realms to balance populations.

Aesir, don't use it yet because if you use the trial you can't get a scroll of resurrection and an instant 80 boost. I made that mistake.
Okay, I've once again started a new character and I'm actually having a lot more fun now. It's a Blood Elf Hunter, so it's the first time I actually go for a non-melee, non-tank character. Was getting pretty tired of playing tanks almost exclusively. I'm basically just using my level 80 to get gold for the new character now. :P
Just one thing - when did levelling get this fast? I went from level 1 -17 in three hours last night? My first character back in the WotLK days took 2 months to hit 40. :o
@Nferno, I'm currently playing on Burning Legion, but I'm strongly considering moving to another server as this one seems to be populated with mostly Polish players. It's not that I don't like them, it's just not fun if I'm constantly reading a language I don't understand or get grouped in a dungeon with people who cannot or refuse to speak english.

They nerfed the levelling required so it won't be so daunting and intimidating to new players. However, there are two "slow-progress" brackets in terms of levelling, being 50 to 58 and 80 to 85.85 to 90 is a drag and a big pain in the ass, but it's meant to be as you're not really supposed to steamroll through new content.
Hunters are a lot of fun and I have one which I play with regularly (Goblin Hunter named Zingela). It's a really relaxed playstyle as nothing is really required of you in terms of raiding and you can pretty much just do your own thing and try top the meters. The most engaging part of playing a Hunter for me is collecting the rare Hunter pets and you can literally sink days into tracking them down and taming them.
I'll PM you my e-mail address and you can add me on RealID and we can chat in-game if you ever decide to move servers. I love Kilrogg and I doubt I'll ever stray from here.
At the risk of generalizing, is it me or are Alliance players in general dicks? I've always played Alliance and while I did get ganked by Horde, it was never overly disruptive. I travelled to Stranglethorne Vale yesterday and got ganked so much I eventually had to give up on trying to quest there and quit. Tried playing again today, and questing was pretty much impossible because high level Alliance players camp the quest areas and gank anyone who tries to quest. After about an hour of getting ganked I simply gave up and will likely move to another questing hub now.
Look, I love my PvP servers and I get that I shouldn't be complaining about PvP on a PvP server, but seriously? Level 80s and 90s camping level 30 areas and ganking people so bad they literally can't quest there? I don't remember the Horde doing things like this whenever I played in STV with any of my Alliance characters.
I'm also finding a lot less jerks in dungeons now that I'm playing Horde, though that might just be coincidence.

I've often found that people who play the alliance characters to be generally bad mannered and quite abusive. I don't know what it is. I did a 2 year stint as an alliance death knight before making the change back to the horde and I will never go back. Leveling is a painful experience (especially the lower levels) with people not understanding their class roles and generally being dicks. Horde on the other hand, I've found to be more "noob friendly" and are willing to listen to advice.
Also I didn't have any luck being alliance. Since I've transferred back to the horde, I've found 3 rare mounts, a legendary and have yet to wipe in LFR. Coincidence? I think not.
