Couldn't find a thread about this, and the game is only four days away! After watching a few trailers, I'm definitely getting it. Just the fact that you can now dismember enemies with the Light Saber, is already a HUGE improvement. The new "Force Fury" puts you temporally in overdrive, as you swing your Light Saber like a spinning blade, beheading Storm Troopers left and right. Looks quite grisly, and pretty satisfying. "Jedi Mind Trick" has also been introduced, and you can now mind-**** the AI, making them fight each other, or jump to their deaths from high places. Apparently the controls are tighter, so using Force Powers is much more controlled this time round. And TWIN Light Sabers? Yes Please....

I just played the demo of this. I bought the first one but I doubt I'll be getting this one; it uses a similar retarded targeting system as the first in that it is relative to what your character is looking at, not what you are looking at. I'm normally quite good at picking up new control schemes, but just few minutes of demo made me want to lob a controller at the cat, but Stephen Fry told me not to.

Also, all this fuss being made about digital molecular matter, it is once again relegated to a gimmick on certain, and very specific, objects. I'm sure they'll have some level made out of bouncy stuff, but it just doesn't warrant the fuss. Thankfully it is a hell of a lot more violent as Slither said, but, like the DMM, the dismemberment seems scripted. I couldn't go and chop stormtroopers into tiny pieces, I could only convince a weakened enemy to part with his head by using a charged up saber throw.

I'm probably just butt-hurt that I cant get the dude to do what I want and people who can will end up loving this game. If they included a little button saying "targeting: camera relative" I'd be singing its praises.

I must be honest, I never really enjoyed the first one either, the story was great, just got frustrated way too many times with the gameplay. I will still be getting this when it comes out though, need to get my Star Wars fix some how, and I guess this is a close as we are ever going to get to a KOTOR sequel.

I missed the first one due to it not being ported to PC initially so had high hopes for this one.... but it seems its getting thrashed in reviews.

Um, the first one is on PC. I bought it on Steam for $5 just a few weeks ago.

But yeah, the reviews have convinced me to skip this one.

It is on PC now, but wasn't at first. It only got ported a while ago, as the "Ultimate Sith Edition". Same as Darksiders.

Whenever trailers were released for the game, I always wondered why we saw the exact same stage of the game. When I read reviews, I then realised why - there was nothing else to show. If I recall correctly, that one stage was 1/3 of the game. I was really looking forward to this game, but now it has hit Bargain Bin status for me. Pity really.

I was planning on getting this, as the first game was a fun, if frustrating experience. Was hoping they would iron out all the problems and get the combat right, but now it seems they couldn't even do that. Skip, got way too much other games to play.

I loved the first game. I'm pretty keen on getting this.

I can't believe the reviews. I was so excited about this. I really hated the controls and other bugs of the game, but it was Star Wars and I was going to finish it anyway.

So now the managed to make it worse somehow?

This sucks so much because I have a special ed on pre-order. This is really indescribably suckky!

Now what? Do I still buy it or what? I really wanted this game so bad ever since I saw the trailer last year.

But it's like I read or heard somewhere. - Boss to team: "Well development team, I have some good news and some bad. The bad news is you have manged to make a sequel to a game that had ****ty problems and you seem to have made an even worse mess of this one than the one before. The good news is, it is a Star Wars title and it will still sell millions."

I was really looking forward to this. Wanted to get the collector's on Xbox. :-( Not sure if I should get this after reading and watching how bad the reviews are....

Just read some reviews as well, apparently the game looks gorgeous, but is very short, repetitive and uninspiring. Now I feel totally **** for starting this thread...

Don't feel bad, make more threads! :D

I liked the first game immensely (yes, even with all its faults), so I was looking forward to the sequel, hoping for improvements (or at the very least, more of the same), but alas, missed opportunity. But even with bad scores, I do want to play this.

Get it preplayed then, I'm sure there will be some disappointed SW fans trading in their games soon enough (that's what I'll be waiting for).

I see the PC version has a few extra technical issues added on top as well. Methinks pre-order I must cancel, hyperspace speeds.

My biggest gripe with the original was the camera. Instead of a pretty cool 3rd person game (similar to Jedi Outcast's light-saber camera) we got something more DMC with a horrible control scheme and targeting system. I guess they didn't really learn their past experiences. The videos were absolutely top notch though.

Yeah, won't be buying this one. Maybe rent it, when it becomes available. Even just to see that huge beast that kills a rancor.

Got SWFU2 yesterday (busy gaming weekend). Finished it three hours ago, short summary:

a) Story isnt great (I cant relate to starkiller at all anymore, jana this, jana that, he feels... erm... stupid).
b) Gameplay is fun, love the two sabers. Not having any problems with the control scheme, though, i didnt with the first either, not sure why.
c) Graphics range from awesome to crap throughout the game. Some levels, even though im playing at 1080p with AA all the way up feels... blocky? When its awesome, its really awesome though :P

I dont know, feels like they took a step back instead of forward. Think my biggest issue is the story and janajanajanajana (And so are the days of our lives)...

You're gonna have to tell us what platform. Have you googled it? Have you checked all the obvious things, like disk scratches?

I’m a huge fan of Star Wars (not sure if you can tell or not)..but yeAH I’ve got to agree the force unleashed franchise is not what I expected. Anyway apart from the buggy controls and repetitive of the game play..I enjoyed the gap between episode III and IV storyline, although the reviews of this instalment are so far from the Darkside..Im going to give it the benefit of the doubt and purchase it..(Because I can afford to and I want to)

Well that was a waste of my cash. 3-4 hours gameplay, a watered-down story that barely lives up to the epic moments of the original, and StarKiller has been reduced from an interesting character to a madman running around screaming and slashing people with his lightsabers.

Thanks a lot Lucasarts.

I had the loading issue as well. Its not actually the disc but rather the way the game cache's your data. I did a flush clean of my pre-fetch & temp folders in windows after that the game launched fine. Ati users have the most issues it seems with stuttering, missing video's & game crashes. There is a fix around that by disabling v-sync, AA & full screen. I my self had those issues as I'm running a HD5850 card. But it seems after you have finished the game & select re-play mission, all those videos are now playing correctly & the game is a hell of a lot more stable. Which really leaves me to believe it is a caching issue. At the end of the day its a bit buggy & short but a hell of a lot of fun. What I would suggest is if you have not yet bought it, wait until the 1st patch or the DLC content. Which by the way might have to be made free due to the outcry of the gaming community on their official forums. I agree with them the game is very short. For me it lasted around 3 hours on normal, not counting the challenges.

Still can't decide if I want to go pick up my special ed. Three to four hours of game play? That sucks munkyballs! I like games that take forever. When I finished Mass Effect, I thought that was pretty short, and I played 25hrs long. I'm a sucker for collectors and special editions, but I want to at leas have a 10 hour story-mode.

I'm also a big fan of collector's. But 3-4 game play? Not sure about that one. Think I will wait to see if the price drops.

How about contacting Lucas Arts? Ever thought about that?

</rant>

Played it at a mates house yesterday. ****, what a lot of ****. Repetition, repetition. Perform the only combo. Left click, left click, left click, etc.

Seriously, the developers obviously didn't have any real inspiration or drive when creating this game.

I was a bit disappointed with it. It's a good game. Has it's moments but they are very brief. Graphics and sound were good (not great). Game play was a bit too repetitive (the only time I wasn't pressing X was when it prompted me to press another button on the screen) but going to try the challenges next time I boot up my xbox. Story and the character development were good also but it is just too darn short for a R600 game in my opinion. 70/100 in my opinion 75/100 would be too generous.

Anyway just finished playing the last level for the second time so I could see both endings and the dark side ending caught me off by surprise.

My friend bought it on PS3 over the weekend so I went over to his flat yesterday to give it a try. Finished it in less than 5 hours. Glad I did not buy this game. So disappointing. Maybe, just maybe, if the collector's edition drops in price, then I will buy it. The frame rate is bad, the story is very disappointing and Starkiller acts all emo when he is going after Juno.

Any thoughts?

I have lost all hope for Lucas Arts again. These days it feels like almost all of the developers are better off at doing remakes of old favourites.
Imagine Jedi Outcast on PS3! And while I'm at it, how long till FF7 gets it's remake? (but please, don't turn this thread into a Final Fantasy thread)

I have decided I will get TFUII SE when it's price drops. If not, I will just rent this game and finish it, then buy it when it's in a bargain bin just to satisfy my StarWars collecting obsession.

I'm really enjoying the game on PC, although the story is very depressing.
And why would you want to be able to play with a Guybrush Threepwood skin?
