Seeing as I'm one of the few people that absolutely adored the second game, I'm understandably pumped for the third, although it does seem like a change in direction. You're no longer the new dude, tasked with stopping a paranormal threat, so the unknown factor seems to have dissolved.

Game's getting good reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/fear-3) so far though, and the combat is just as visceral and gory, so I'm expecting a fun romp. Anyone else looking forward to it?

Heh, depending on whether it goes for the same price as FEAR 2 (R600 at release), I might get it. I love the series. Plus having three will mean I have the entire collection of FEAR games. :P

I already pre-ordered my collector's edition for the 360. Only 2 more weeks to go.

Here is a video review: (no real spoilers)

Lets hope this one doesn't have a lot of those pitch dark sections, where you are stuck with only the tunnel vision of your flashlight, and no idea where to go next. I hated that. If you want to put me in a pitch dark place, without the aid of a map, at least give me a pointer to show me the way, like in Dead Space. Otherwise you're just frustrating me.

Apparently you can play co-op split screen, where the one player has psychic powers, and lifts enemies into the air, while the other player shoots them! Cool!

Like Psi Ops ?

I don't think he has quite as many powers as in Psi Ops, but it sounds something like that. Also, you can play the SP campaign twice, with the two different characters, which gives you two totally different experiences.

Psi ops was the ****!! Loved that game, wish they made a sequel.

I'm not too amped about this game but I'll probably buy it second-hand or budget.

QFT. Way ahead of its time, and one of my favourite PS2 games.

You guys did read the F.E.A.R. 3 interview (http://www.nag.co.za/2011/05/f-e-a-r-3-%E2%80%93-interview-with-steve-niles/) we did with Steve Niles and John Carpenter, right? The guys who wrote the story and "screenplayed" the whole game? Just sayin'.

Only one more week. The collector's edition was canceled for the PC version only. BT will still get the console versions.

I'm a huge F.E.A.R. fan, and I feel I'm with pArkEr.
Almost everyone I talked to didn't like F.E.A.R. 2.
Can't wait for this game.
I read a review last night, apparently it's not very scary but still great!

What the hell happened to this game? Reviews everywhere, but it's still not out in SA?

I pre-ordered it for PS3, it's set to be released here on 1st July. Sometimes the 1st world countries get their releases before us, this does happen...

Started playing this today, the first level was dark, bland and unimpressive, but the second level is outside, and looks a bit better. I like the Rank/Scoring system, it gives the game replay value. Once you finished a level, you can replay it as Fettel, but I haven't tried that yet....

The fourth level finally looks like something that's worth playing. Third level was a badly designed warehouse, with stage props and Kamikaze Zombies...pretty pathetic, and nothing you would want to replay. Looks like I'm going to have to grind my teeth to get my money's worth out of this one...

OK, given up on this game. Wasted my money on a load of crap....

Well, I'm actually enjoying this game. It's fun.

What makes it a load of crap?

Yeah, that's what I'd like to know (not really, I couldn't care less). I loved F.E.A.R 1 and 2, so much so in fact, that I've finished the original about 6 times ;P. F.E.A.R 2 was also great and I must say, I'm thoroughly enjoying F.E.A.R 3. It's a bit different from its predecessors, but great nonetheless. It has a nice rank system with perks you can use and earn in both single and multi, a very good cover system for an FPS and you can play it co-op. But if you don't have someone else to play with, you can replay the missions you have completed again as Fettel, who is an absolute BLAST to play as. As you can imagine, playing the game through twice like this makes it quite lengthy and there's still the multiplayer after that.

Anyways, that's my opinion of the game. While definitely a bit different from the first 2 games, a great game in its own right. I agree with the reviews of the game on the interweb, and I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

OK, I suppose I'm just a bit jaded and fussy, but if you've experienced BRILLIANT games like Crysis 2, Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction, with engaging stories that draw you in and make you WANT to see what happens next, then this is a bit BLEH. The levels are uninspiring, and the weapons are dead stock standard. What happened to that AWESOME gun that fries enemies into skeletons, from FEAR 1?? I'm on level 5, and I haven't seen ALMA once....or maybe just a quick glimpse, I think...

I suppose if you don't play a lot of AAA titles then this might be fun. It's not a bad game, but I'm struggling to get into a Beetle after driving a Porsche...

I'm with Slither on this one. I played until the "totally original urban in sunlight warfare" level, I dropped the controller and took the game to BT for a trade in. Everything of the game until up to that point was just like a young wannabe kid trying to be like every other shooter in the genre and in the process forgetting what it was supposed to be.

I adored the first 2 games, but I blame XP, Killstreaks and more importantly CoD for FPS games becoming more and more the same.

The ONLY 3 upcoming FPS' that I'm still looking forward to are Bioshock Infinite, Prey 2 and Deus Ex Human Revolution. Played the last's BETA and it's going to be GLORIOUS! It's got the same HUD and interface from the first game and bullets are scarce, forcing you to be a bit careful about your approach to every situation. It also reminds me a lot about Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines. August can't come fast enough!

Anyway, short story short, I'd say it's the worst game of the entire FEAR series. I'd even go as far as to say that I had more fun with Perseus Mandate!

I am finding the game fun despite its problems though. You just need to go in with low expectations. But if you really wanna enjoy it play it with a friend. Best fun ive had in weeks

I tried playing with buddies, while it was okay the novelty of it wears thin very quickly. If I want to blast hordes of undead with a friend I'd rather play the L4D games or , ironically, Black Ops. And after the first 2 games it was hard to start playing those games without high expectations.

Well most reviews say that if you can get past the first few levels, the game really picks up. Played the first level at my uncle, and was glad to be able to shoot baddies in slow-mo again. This is what drew F.E.A.R. to me, the gunplay, I just find it so invigorating and visceral!

Else, can completely understand you guys being disappointed with it, but I'm still buying it, if just to see how the story pans out.

Played with a friend again. He **** himself at the supermarket lvl and ran into the toilet screaming like a 6 year old.
Nearly died laughing

I'm at Interval 8, the last interval.
The story really picks up, and I've been freaked out by Alma 2 times now in Interval 7. In a way that they've never done in the previous titles.

This is just my opinion, but playing the bright urban level doesn't give you a reason to trade it in. It's a cool game, and can't see why some people are negative. I'm enjoying it, and can't wait to see how it ends!
