I need to Know how much is the parking tickets for this year as they are sold separately ..
and how many games is played in how many competitions.

Well looking on the event page for the nag lan parking <http://www.computicket.com/web/event/nag_lan_rage_2011_parking/424360927//referer:highlights-index-0-0-2011_10_02-grid-page:2-> it says that there is no price for the parking ticket. IE for now it is free.

I think that the reason that they are confused is because on Computicket there is a thing to buy your LAN ticket and then there is also one to buy your Parking ticket. But the parking ticket does not have a price :/

Yes as the Previous Post states the Prices are still the same, As to word of a Parking ticket I'm not sure how that is gona work last year we just showed our Computicket tickets and they guards let us park in the designated parking.

I'm seriously hyped for this year's rAge. It'll be the first one I attend (I know, I know), but unfortunately I'll only be attending the first day for about half the day. Next year I'm definitely attending the LAN, I just need to upgrayyd a little first... :)

I just want to know about this "parking issue" - I buy a day ticket for R50 (I can't quite come to terms with how it can be so damn cheap) and I arrive. Where do I park, and how do I pay? What does it cost? Note: Question is for the Expo only, not the LAN...

If youre attending the expo only, parking areas are next to Northgate Shopping Centre and across the road from the Dome so you walk over the bridge once youve parked. If I remember correctly parking costs either R10 or R15 in those areas, and you just pay the security guard at the entrance to the parking.

If youre attending the LAN then your parking cost is already included in the ticket. When you arrive at The Dome you show your Computicket ticket to the security guard and he will direct you to the NAG LAN parking area.

Because I have a fairly big screen and a huge tower ... so I have to carry one at a time ... And almost every year we are told we not allowed to use the trolleys from north gate.... My main problem is when we hit the maze area before the steps...

Any help would be awesome

You can buy one of those straps, and then put your chassis in it and carry your screen in your hands, that's what I did. :)

More importantly the parking problem, cant the guards like hand out the parking passes the day before or early the morning?
Had problem with parking last year, the guard didn't have parking pass.

LostEnigma, Y don’t u you leave everything in the car and then queue till u get your pass. once you have your official NAG lan pass surely u can enter and exit with no issues. You then carry your things in.... i don’t know that’s how i have always done it at other lans.

i have seen n little trolley at builders warehouse that fold up very nicely and is big enough for lekke big case that ways 35kg only prob is that it cost R350 ...

I just rock a my case in my hands, a luggage bag over my shoulder with my screen either on top of my case or on top of my bag...

This is my first rAge lan and was wondering whether or not i have to climb/descend stairs to get to my desired spot. Of so, wont a trolley be more difficult to handle?

This is just a quick heads-up for anyone attempting to buy tickets for the NAG LAN @ rAge 2011: these tickets will sell out fast. If you're trying to buy online through Computicket, there's a chance that you're experiencing problems caused by Computicket's overloaded server. If this is the case, we recommend that you either give them a call on 0861 915 8000 or physically go to a Computicket/Checkers branch and buy your ticket in person. Good luck!

Nope. Far as I know, no consoles are allowed in the LAN. PC's only. Unless they changed the rules for this year. For the last 5 LANs though, no consoles.

How did so many people miss it, There's always news about it in advance; 1 August people, and it sells faster every year... And the tickets go on sale, 1 August!!! Just like every other year! I had my alarm set even just in case I was fool enough to forget! :) But I got my ticket before my alarm reminded me. Friend even asked me to get his one because he was stuck in a meeting. Next year we all need to be ready on the Computicket website hitting F5 and buying the ticket the second it comes out and before the Computicket site crashes. :) Can't wait for rAge now!

Never saw the midnight thing myself, I just always get my ticket between 8am and 10am of the morning of the 1st August. Seeing these sales I should maybe keep an eye out for a midnight madness sell out next year! But I reckon the tickets should be sold normal business hours, I like picking my ticket up in person as I pay for them hehe. :) Also I'm sure some younger gamers don't have the credit card option and pay cash, unless they have a parent willing to do that for them. But scalpers will be scalpers, and we all hate them :(

People offering inflated prices for tickets are just as bad as those selling them, so I'm going to delete all requests or offers for tickets. Anyone caught attempting to buy or sell tickets on these forums from this point on will be banned without hesitation.

I'm sorry, but if you are at all interested in rAge, you would KNOW that each year the ticket sales start on the 1st of August. You have a entire year to make 100% sure you get a ticket, by any means necessary. The fact that your scalping friends managed to get 5 tickets each, yet you did not even get 1, tells me that you just didn't try hard enough.

Thanks for the clear up as to whom is to blame for the fact that the tickets only went on sale 8 hours later than advertised.

I had stayed awake last night until 02:00 this morning waiting for the sales to go live.

Unfortunatley, I work and am extremely busy with morning meetings (especially on a Monday and month end) between 08:00 and 12:00, so everything was sold out before I even had a chance.

I hope NAG takes Computicket on for the breach in contract and hopefully will use an alternative for the ticket sales in future?

Don't forget: Acceptance only effects the customer.

There isn't really a decent alternative is there? The same **** happens with every Currie Cup/Super Rugby final, so it's not like this is anything new.

I was also up till around 1. Then I tried at 6 before work, and then on my way to work my car broke down. While they replaced some fuses in the car, I called a friend to go and get the ticket for me, and then paid him back once I got to work. Where there is a will, theres a way my man.

I was up till 1, then tried again at 3, then again at 5, then again at 7, and just as i head to work 7:30 i figured i will try again, the website was down but the .mobi one worked and by 7:34 i had my tickets.

So yeah...battle for 7odd hours to get a ticket then we get to wait another 1441 hours to use them...Poetic

I was kinda stressed about not being able to buy a ticket online this morning, so I sat through my first lecture, checking the time. Then took a leisurely stroll down to Hatfield Plaza, searched desperately for the Computicket found it, got my ticket and by 09:15 was ready to LAN. Then went to some tattoo parlors and then continued to learn. Learning is MOST important...

I hope will all my heart that those okes dont sell their tickets :) And are stuck with five tickets.

I'm sorry, but if you are at all interested in rAge, you would KNOW that each year the ticket sales start on the 1st of August. You have a entire year to make 100% sure you get a ticket, by any means necessary. The fact that your scalping friends managed to get 5 tickets each, yet you did not even get 1, tells me that you just didn't try hard enough.

I'm the designated ticket buyer for my group.
I book as many as I'm allowed, pay for it and then give it to my friends.
The only condition I have for them is that they back me back, the price on the ticket, on the 1st day of rAge.

I'm not buying multiple tickets to make money, only to help out friends who either are at work or don't have the cash on 1st of August.

Have any of you thought that maybe there aren't scalpers or more to the point that the LAN is just so popular that demand far exceeds supply?

We all assume that there are a whole bunch of guys that each registered like 4 accounts on Computicket and bought 20 tickets and are going to sell them for R500 a pop.

Maybe the gaming scene in S.A. has reach the point where 2000 odd tickets isn't enough?

as designated ticket buyer/"mom" for my clan (also taxi driver, burger buyer and nurse-for caffeine hangovers) I had to buy tickets for all the gamers in my clan...what a mission!!!
also stayed up until 2am trying on laptop and mobi..(in fact last year I could buy tickets an hour before midnight already), next morning on cell in bath trying mobi site, internet..later phoning - only got through at 8:15.. booked, gave credit details..only to be told the system is down and credit cards were not being processed, with failed transactions. Not to worry they will call me back when sorted.. STILL WAITING!!
as someone has to work and pay for the tickets, burgers and caffeine (fund the lifestyle), I now had no option but to go to an urgent meeting at 9am and implement desperate plan 5 - my secretary – to computicket to personally buy tickets. Took her 45 minutes to convince them that there was a LAN and that yes, they were actually selling the tickets.....they had to phone head office to confirm eventually (instructions to find event on system). Got tickets by 10 am only.
they might have sold out in 4 hours, but it took me 10 stressful hours to buy mine!! I do sympathise with those of you who do not have the resources i have (secretary!!), else i also would not have had tickets
I have been attending for 6 years now. This year was a nightmare...Surely there must be a different way to sell tickets more fairly, effectively, neutralizing scalpers!! computicket is not adding value for their commission.

I am also a little disappointed at NAG for the way they are handling this massive ****-up! The only response anybody is getting is a giant finger point to Computicket.

Yes, it may have been the suppliers fault, but the organizer is the one who has to take the responsibility. Computicket still makes their cut, what do they care? As far as they are concerned, they sold out the show and will be sending "sold out high fives" around the office.

NAG is the one that will take the PR hit for this and passing the buck is definitely not the way to instill confidence in your client base for the future events.

What could they have done though? If you can honestly give them an alternative then you would have some leg to stand on but you don't. Like any other event, the organizer has to work through Computicket because we don't have an alternative in SA. NAG could have jumped through hoops and Computicket would still have made a ****-up.

You cannot pass the buck and everything is hunky dory, it would be very handy if it worked that way (especially in my line of work!), but as stated above, NAG will take the hit for this and not Computicket, and I feel that they should take it on the chin and come back with a plan of action.

This is the way that any responsible party should respond to a crisis situation.

They could use many alternatives, any online purchasing system would do the trick. What I don't know is, if there is a choice when it comes to the Dome? Only NAG can provide us this information, and, as stated throughout my posts:

I understand and agree everyone’s views on Computicket and NAG etc... but they just had another successful ticket sale... 2200 tickets in 4 hours is amazing so why would they change anything ? They can’t cater for everyone and yes i agree they should have been much clearer on when the tickets will be available and a list of games + Tournaments to be played should have been out a month ago for people to plan.... Most probably not. I stand under correction but the food vendors have a contract with the Dome and when you "rent" the dome you have to use their facilities.

But seriously, Northgate is like a 5 minute walk, if you really want good food take a 15 minute break walk over and get something.

So I recommend that you even try at the entrance on the day of the event. It is worth a try. Who knows they might even give it to you for free - depending on person who left it there.

If NAG tells us that they have taken it further with Computicket and will be fighting for them to not receive the commission, then at least NAG would be doing something, other than directing everyone straight to Computicket.

NAG does have some responsibility to bear, they are after all, also taking a cut from the sales. We are NAG customers, as much as Computicket ones.

I have already lodged my complaints with Computicket, but according to the Sales Manager, they have only received about 5 or 6 complaints thus far.

If these are the only complaints they receive, then this will happen again and again and...

I must admit it sucks to not be able to bring bought food into the Dome. Thinking about getting my main meals at Northgate and then like some slap chips to snack on in the Dome [bought from a vendor, dont worry].

Couple of questions:
1. About how much do u think will be necessary for the food? [I dont need to eat alot maybe like 2 meals a day]
2. Are we able to eat at the computers? [the food that we bought that is]
3. What do u okes do when u need food?
4. Do u leave an oke at your PC's and send a runner?
5. Those who have been... How do u charge your cellphones?
6. What can I do to prepare so that my PC has limited settings to change before I can start playing?

I apologize for the slight hijack, but I have been hoping that more people (including NAG) would get on the bandwagon to do something about the mess, although, it seems, that not many are interested in trying to prevent repeat failures...

But, as a vet, let me dispose some wisdom:

1. Depends on what kind of food you consider a meal, if you talking decent food, then bank about R250 a day (for two meals).
2. I always ate at my PC (the snacks and stuff), but normally went to the mall for the proper meals.
3. It's cool to leave your PC and grab some food at the food courts or mall, never had anything go missing.
4. I never had a need, guys are there to game and proberly won't even notice you gone.
5. USB Charger, USB charger needed for anything and everything.
6. Make sure all your games have the latest patches, windows too and the latest drivers. They normally have some patches available there and the graphics drivers, but better to be prepared before hand. Also Antivirus is a good idea, never know what bugs you might pick up.

Last year they had Internet access (but it was mainly for drm related crap and not for downloads) although there would be many people that would probably have the latest patch for the game you are looking to get a hold of on the network so you shouldn't worry there.

Weather-wise the previous 2 occasions that I attended (this is my third year in a row) I never got that cold. It does get a little chilly late at night so if you have a very low temperature threshold (like you wearing a tracksuit in 30 degree CENTIGRADE heat) then I would suggest bringing an extra blanket or jacket.

Security wise, the security guards there are very good. But if you apply the numbered stickers that you will get at the reception area to you Pc, headphones, screen, mouse and keyboard, and keep your cellphone, wallet and any other valuable object (like a camera or something) with you then you should not worry.

Sad to say but don't leave anything that can fit in a bag or pocket easily lying around, no one will steal you pc, but they might go after you wallet and phone, lost both last year luckily got my wallet back.

As willbeonekenobi said, a valuable item like a wallet etc. is never a good idea to leave lying around anywhere. The weather has been pretty good the last couple of times I went too, plus all those heavy breathers in the Dome keep it kind of cozy anyway ;)

You might also want to take and extra top with you, can be used as a pillow (depending how comfortable your keyboard is), if there isn't a bean bag available.

I take about 4k with for rAge. Budget R500 on cooldrinks, snacks, LOTS of energy drinks and whatever else. The rest I use to buy hardware and games. I always budget far more than I need. Nothing worse than not having any money left by Saturday afternoon.

What was your excuse last year? It took 36 hours for the tickets to sell out. Note: 36 hours. Long enough to leopard crawl to the nearest Computicket branch and get your ticket. People knew the tickets are going to go fast, so they made provisioning. There was ample warning provided by NAG that the tickets are going to go fast. If you really wanted a ticket, you'd have made an effort and bought one online the second the bookings started. Then it's as simple as going to Computicket after the rush and picking up your ticket. It's NOT NAG's fault, and the customer is NOT always right (discussed this in another thread). You cannot rage at a company for having limited seats to a world-famous event, even more so when it wasn't they who were selling the tickets in the first place.

I have a sneaky suspicion you are ****ed because the tickets were sold out before you had a chance to get your hands on a pair, instead of being ****ed that they were actually being sold a few hours late.

The network wont be upgraded untill games need a gigabit network(they run just fine on 100meg connections). The reason for this is if rage hosts a LAN with a gigabit network then they are just encouraging leeching which is not legal and thus sponsors might pull out and the delicate balance will fall apart.
This is my understaning from last years response from a nag admin.

I think what you are trying to say, is that you cant game and leech at the same time. So having a 100mbs network will deter some people as it takes away gaming time.

I have some more questions:
1. I take it that all network stuff is already set up so we just plug and play [sort of :)]
2. how does the actual gaming work? Severs set up all the time for the diff games or what?

Yeah the Network is running off a DHCP server, if i remember correctly this was only introduced last year and it worked gr8( big up the the network peeps).
as far as the games go the servers are up during the whole weekend, or you have the option to host your own game if your rig allows for it.

as far as i know the parking tickets are free for if you have a nag LAN ticket... and i have a question how save is it in that are the morning im planning do arrive at the dome lets say half past 4 or at 4 will there be guards and stuff. dount want somebody braking into my car the same day as rage that would suck

I remember last year only 24" and smaller monitors were allowed however they never stopped anyone who arrived with a bigger monitor.

I've just heard something very interesting (well, actually more like ridiculus but let's keep this civilized) that I would like to ask a NAG staff member if this is correct or not.
Apparently only 600 tickets went to the public and 1700 tickets went to people/comapnies hosting competitions at rAge. Is this true?

Thats as impossible as can be. If you check the ticket numbers that a few of us were discussing on the forums you will see the difference in the ticket numbers stretch much more than 600 apart. Maby you got it the wrong way round? Correct me if im wrong but competitions are minimal at best and only the HP comp is arranging tickets for their players. All other comps are locally made and are lanners themselves as far as i know. Been at rage for 6 years in a row now and never heard something like that.

You can buy a day pass at the gates that gives you access to the expo.... u wont be able to go into the Nag lan area though. Those tickets were sold out.

I was wondering when and where you can find tickets for the just the expo. I've look on computicket and they only sell for the NAG Lan which I don't think I'm going to go two. Help on this matter will be appreciated.

Sylar: those tickets you buy at the event entrance. You only buy the LAN tickets via computicket.
