rAge 2011 meet 'n' greet

Okay I'm wholly unqualified to make this post being as I don't post all that much anymore but last year after the messup that was it's meet 'n greet I did vow to do this roughly three weeks prior to rage.

So here we go:

For those of you who don't know what a meet 'n greet is, its basically where us internet loners come out of... the cable-work and show our blanched faces to one another before scuttling back into the dark aether that is our normal connection to the world. So dust off your personality and prove to all around you that you do have a life, and prove to us that you are not a rogue AI trying to conquer the earth.. 'cause we'll delete you then.

No avatars may be sent in leiu of your corporeality.

We just generally talk **** and eat food, and, as I did last year, not pay for food as my order didn't make the bill.

Okay, now we gotta organise where and when we do this. As the title says we conduct this during the weekend of rage, but being as that magical event takes place over three glorious and woefully short days, we have to choose a day. Saturday is a common favourite as everyone is drunk enough from friday and all the lanners are hungry enough to leave the dome and its expensive chow. Also saturday is the only day that comes in blue, so it has that going for it. We always do it after rage closes, this is because rage takes precident over everything and as such we also need a time, 18:0 normally works. So give the days you can attend and we'll do it on the day the most people can attend, also time.

The other issue is where. We need a rallying point and normally the spur or wimy at northgate serve this purpose. Tables are booked at these places for formal reasons but we normally saunter about the place, moving from restraunt to restraunt like a hord of... errr something that hords and eats and games, but not locusts. So leave suggestions of where you'd like to go and we shall decide which is the most popular.

At last there is the need for headcount, and not the kind that involves scalping your fallen enemies. Since a table needs to be booked, and I shall be booking, I gotta know how many people to expect if any... at all... like last year. Say if you're coming by posting in the thread.

Now to cut through the chaff in my post:

I need you to post if you want to come, which day of rage works for you and which restraunt you wanna go to and the time we should be there.

Actually, meet and greets are generally organised in off-topic, to allow for maximum exposure. This includes Rage meet and greets for previous years.

Only a fraction of forum regulars actually go into the Rage thread, so it wouldn't exactly yield the best results if it sat there.

As for myself, I'll be at Rage... I think. It generally depends quite largely if there's somewhere for me to engage in tabletop gaming of any sort.

So far it's 6 pm until someone suggests otherwise, I know we had an advocation for lunchtime but I feel that on saturday that tends to be prime queuing time for all the games and no one wants to give up places in queues. Of course that's my weak rationalisation for it. Just know that after rAge is the populare time for this sorta thing.

As for where I havn't really seen anyone putting forward anything sure so I'll keep it at mikes kitchen for now. Bear in mind we do tend to wander around after meeting to the "where" is but a trivial matter being as it's no more than a rallying point.

Ideas for where and time should have taken up most of the thread but.. yeah. Come on people! lets get the ideas going!

The best palce to meet and greet in Gauteng on a Saturday has to be Pepper chair in centurion .. ITs far off but R114 for a 1.4KG T - BOne and cheap drinks sounds like the best mix for me :D

I'm going to suggest Mike's Kitchen or Spur. Mike's Kitchen is a little pricier, but nicer. Spur is a safe favourite but nothing special.

We went dining at Mike's once, and the waiter came carrying our mushroom starters. One of the bowls was dropped, mushrooms everywhere. She apologized and everyone was nice and civil, but upon reception of the replacement mushrooms we found glass in the new batch. Any guess where it came from? Mike's will never see me again. Damn shame, as their eisbein is heavenly.
