This is where you ask questions or make suggestions relating to all things Warcraft. Patches, type of servers, mods, etc.

If you want to start something at Rage in terms of a community run competition or just have a general interest in the genre and want to comment on it, post here. Please keep this related to this genre, and to the Open LAN Section only.

Please keep in mind that you will not be allowed dedicated servers of your own, if you have not confirmed it with myself. This includes laptops, servers without screens etc. There are two ways to bring a server to rAge. Firstly you can contact me, we agree, your server stays in the admin area, you remote connect to administer. Secondly you could just buy your server a ticket for rAge in addition to your own ticket. There are not dedicated server tickets that are cheaper, I just mean buy a second ticket and bring your server.

If you want to host a friendly comp, we can help in making certain resources available on our website at the event, but we will not get involved with the whole administration side of things. Thus you will need to give some details, see Server Template thread for what is needed.

If not I will host one, and I will work on a non-profit basis, for instance every sent I receive for entries into the competition will go into the prize money seeing as we don't have a sponsor.

no hacked maps.

Latest version is v6.46b But i think v6.47 will come out before Rage.

I only found out about DotA about 3 months ago, so I pretty much suck at it but, I'm definitely looking forward to playing it as well. Its always nice when someone beats you: Motivation to get better.

As for all those other LANs, I won't be able to attend them so, till rAge, I'll just have to wait =P

Dude just dont feed when you play DOTA other wise your teams gonna get ****ed.
And kick you the next time you join its fine to be a noob you have to learn somewhere
i really have alot of respect for DOTA noobs(that dont feed or leave games)
Cause some of these guys have been playing it for years FROM v3 and at lans alomost every
second weekend playing DOTA about 7 months ago i was a noob myself owned my buddies at a private lan then got OWNED at a public lan.

But yeah would like to play Original for a change 1v1 and some 2v2 games
Maybe youl kick my ass only playing DOTA these days had alot of catching up to do

I was just wondering if there is a way to adress the issue of people who just quit the game. Last year at rage it was impossible to play dota (or at least a full game) because as soon as someone gets first blood the guy who dies quits. Rage is a big place so it is almost impossible to track the guy... Something like the online server will really be appreciated but I don't know if that is possible over a lan. Any ideas?

well i agree we have to do something about quiters.The only thing i can think of what we can do is to host a b-net server @ rage.That way we will be able to ban the ppl for like 10 mins when they quit.Just long enough that they get the idea they shouldn't quit.I mean when some1 quits a dota game they spoil the game for 9 other gamers.I don't mind hosting it.Or we can maybe get one of the vc crew to host it.With a few of war3za trusted dota players that will be at rage as admins.I think it could work.

It will also make any dota comps they planning on holding @ nag lan easier to maintain.

how is the standard of dota at rAge? does it compare to the average [0] game on twilight bnet or are the people actually skillful?

he said he will be hosting a competition in the open lan section. And yes there will probaly be a small fee to enter this. But you will be able to play comp and open lan.

He also always host a bnet server over lan so all you're questions are answered there

No XP or gold is gained when killing an image or illusion. the only exception to this rule is meepo but his stuf isn't really images its more clones so ya. there you go question answered

As the tickets are sold out, would it be possible to host from a laptop in your admin area? I'll remote administer.. We would like to sponsor prizes for these games, but as we are still a very small start up company, we cannot offer thousands. ;-P If anyone is interested, plz post and let me know. ok, so how do we join the b-net server over the lan? Do you type in the host's IP in the gateway editor? How will you inform us then what the IP is?
The same way u join online by entering the ip of the b-net server in your gateway editor.Then save to registry open war3 select the server.Bingo.

Well we thought a team is already paying R1000 + to be there, so if entry fee is high we won't have as much teams in the comp as we want to, this way everyone can enter.

Well there is no SET time, but there is a time limit. The tournament wills tart on 8 PM Friday night. You will then have to finish two team games by Saturday morning 8 pm(still to be confirmed) but that is the idea.

Technically speaking YES. However you will have to prioratise 1v1 above 5v5 since 1v1 only last 15 minutes. And because the time limit on 5v5s isn't that tight this will be easy to accomplish. When entering the 1v1 comp we will require you're ip address so that you're opponent can locate you if needed. We will use the map they had at the open lan last year to locate you.

Was practicing for the 1v1 tourney, against my bro, and noticed something... If the tower takes the kill, does that still warrent a "First Blood" victory, RastaMan?

if you don't hear the first blood sound its not first blood. so if tower takes it, you continue on playing till you hear the 1st blood sound.

One more thing
We had to increase the prizes a bit due to circumstances

1v1 tourney entry is R20
5v5 team entry is now R100

well technically speaking, not really. The rules stated until First blood occurs and first blood only occurs when a hero gets a kill, so its been like that since the start.

because registration is only going to occur at the event we can't tell you how many teams there will be entered

Just a quick question regarding the 5v5 tourney, will everybody be seeded into brackets after we've paid or will we have to organise our two matches with other clans by ourselves?

* Just an idea for the comp, maybe you guys could have a list that could be reached though Internet Explorer which could show the various clans and how many games they have played. It would make it easier to see who is still available and who isn't. Would be a killer to update if lots of clans are there, though. :(

Prizes I am not sure I tred contacting fanaticit but failed.

As for registering not sure, I am sure we will try and get an announcement or something. If nothing happens go to the area where the where the stage was last year. There you see a tall white guy sipping black label. I will be there from 7:10 to 7:30 if there hasn't been an announcement. Just walk up to me and ask if I am RastaMan easy.

The tourneyw as fine. But the attitude and patience of the kiddies really got on ym nerves. Where they couldn't wait while there is being paused, making stupid comments etc. And then eventually causing players to explode like myself.

This is really not what we need. Like clans telling us:
We can't swap heroes?
WE can't use ES to block heroes when they are running away
We can't pause to adjust our strats
When to use our save slots

I mean it just again proved that gaming in RSA is very immature.. The competition at the tourney was nice though. And then I read this post

They didn't pull it was a network error which happened 20 to 30 times this weekend. And you wheren't the best team by far, so please stop dreaming and stop being a bad looser. They knocked you out of the winners brackets and beat you in the final SO GG. Thank you.

All and all NAG Open lan was a disappointment, Constant Lag, Constant drops. Wasn't nearly as stable as last year. The quality of the lan setup just wasn't worth it

Hey, I thought this years warcraft was a definite improvement on last years crap, this year there was more than just dOTA being played (hints the small "d") a group of elite people (myself included) created atleast some other games like Footmen frenzy and anime fight, i would love to see the warcraft comunity crawl out of their shells and jump in to support games other than dota, even games like, are you retard and castle fight, btw is awesome!.
