I had fought a long and arduous personal battle against the might of the console army, but eventually i succumbed to the almighty allure of the Big Green Gaming Macheen!
After a drought of quite a few years(mostly due to time/money constraints) i am now officially a multi-platform gamer...once again.
I picked up a 360 Pro @ CNA yesterday.
They didn't have PGR3(which i didn't really want anyway) so i managed to get GOW and pay the difference along with Forza2...which is their current promotion.
Setup went pretty smoothly with the assistance of the hardcore console fanboi that lives across the street from me.
The gfx quality looks awesome on my Viewsonic LCD, but one of the reasons i got the console was to do the "couch gaming" thing.
It still looks pretty damn good on our standard def Telefunken...it will have to do for now.
I'm looking forward to getting Halo3(i will be "finishing the fight" without actually having started it).
Will have to get Grand Theft Auto 4 seeing as it's not coming to PC(well not for the near future at least).
Will probably get GH2, once i can afford it, because i am a guitar player, albeit a bit noobish.
Then i have to decide whether my PC will buckle trying to run Bioshock or not. I'd prefer to get most FPS titles(like UT3 as well) on PC.
Ok, well that's it i guess...just felt like sharing.

Welcome to the Collective. I would recommend FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage and Table Tennis, if you're the type to like Table Tennis.

Far Cry Predator is quite fun too...especially if you have a group to play with

I enjoy table tennis...played quite a bit of it whenever we went caravan camping in my younger years.
I'll keep an eye on FlatOut, but i do so much sim-racing on the PC, that i'd rather try some other genres on the console.

Welcome to the dark side young Skywalker ;) Also check out Overlord and there is some great stuff on XBLA. Weird using such an expensive piece of equipment to play Worms, but I love it.
Now I need to save up for an HDTV. I really must buy Table Tennis as well.

Can't recommend Guitar Hero 2 enough. It's only, like, the best game evar.
I've got Overlord sitting here, squealing for attention, but my sister's (I'm staying at her place in London for a few weeks) Xbox is in for repairs. ;_;

This CAD comic made me unable to take that game seriously(Due to the fact it might offend some people it is only a link):

However the game has a cool concept.
But back to the topic:
I would also like to join the ranks of the hybrid gamer but I'm a bit short on cash.(In school and all that rot)

Erm. I'm not sure the game is supposed to be taken seriously. It's only a game, don'tcha know. ;)
I was admittedly somewhat sceptical at first. But within nanoseconds of firing it up, I was absolutely hooked. I've been playing games since '86, and have never been so utterly enthralled by anything.

I totally thought Guitar Hero was the dumbest idea in the history of ideas.
But now (referring to the comic) I'd mainline it!
Being in school is pretty tough on a gamer, it's only now that I can really afford to own a console.

NYAAARRRGHHHH! I just realised that the UPS slip I found by the apartment door when I came home from lunch was a failed attempt to deliver the repaired Xbox.
*indignant screeching*
Anyway.
Tell us how you like it, CaptainCrunch.

I haven't yet decided where i'm gonna leave it.
I need to get an extra network point in my room for Live, with VGA cable(R399 cripes) to enjoy HD on my PC monitor.
And then i also need to get a network point in the living room, for the couch based, group gaming on a standard def tv. (FIFA, Rugby, WWE etc.)
But moving the thing around the whole time ain't gonna work, so i reckon it's my room for now.
Borrowed Halo2, so will be having a look at that too, before the coming of the third.
Not finding the controller the most natural experience for these types of shooters yet.
Brother also bought GRAW2, so might try that co-op.
Dunno when i'm gonna get GH2, but i feel the need...it's R699 at L&L...eish!
Finding it hard to get used to the average price point of these games, being double that of what i'm used to on the PC. The expenses to feed this beast is forming a steep incline.
But other than that, a great piece of kit.

I think the game prices have a weird kind of benefit. It makes you more discerning about what you buy. And a lot of games I'll wait for classic release, although for online gaming most players will have moved on.
It took me a solid week of shooting ceiling in Gears to get at all used to the controller for a shooter, I still suck but at least its a bit better.

So on Friday(two days after i got my box), i got invited by a friend to join a 4v4 GOW game...thinking "how hard can it be".
I was running around into walls, rolling into boulders, shooting my teammates, sticking to walls when i didn't want to and basically filled the role of fodder in that specific session.
What a rude awakening!
Great fun though...just need to sort out my console controller driving license.

Sounds a little familiar ;) If you want a n00b game feel free to add me and we can run around into walls together. I need to gird my loins a bit more before joining a general game.
