NAG Meet and Greet (at rAge 2007)

Since FrozenFireSide failed at his agreement to arrange an end of July JHB meet and greet, I have assumed my role again as NAG's (un)official 'social coordinator'

Since I assume there will be a few non-Jo'burg gamers up in the Highveld for rAge I am going to ride on the coat tails of the awesome event and propose we have a meet and greet at rAge.

I propose the Saturday, perhaps afternoon, location within the place to be confirmed.

Meeting at the Game.Dev stand is cool... Give me a time and we can actually make it an event on the official timetable. That would be better than blocking my stand when there are people that need edjumacatin' about making games, yo!

I'd suggest something like 5pm on Saturday, that way everyone can meet AT rAge (because that's where y'all are going to be, right?) and then whoever wants to can tromp across the parking lot when the Dome closes and collectively nab real food.

I mean, if you were like me and enter RAGE the minute the doors open you would be paste too by then and a lot of us still have quite a bit to travel.

Why not something like 12? That way you could check out some games, attend the meet and then go check out some more games and then go home when you're moeg.

Guys, the main reason I'm saying meet at 5pm in the Game.Dev stand on Saturday is because the stand itself is going to be packed all day. We'll be running presentations and workshops (and prizegivings!) all weekend and Saturday is the biggest turnover day, so we need our best material then.

I'd love to have a meet at the stand earlier if everyone has time issues, but logistically it's impossible: I can't have a lot of people pitching up and blocking parts of the stand during a presentation.

Plus there are some good reasons to have a meet later in the day when the show itself is winding down:

1) People lose track of time in the dome. I reckon a lot of people will miss a midday meet because they were busy somewhere or they were getting free swag...

2) You'll be able to head OUT of the Dome when the show closes and all get food together.

3) People working at rAge, like Miktar, Fengol and myself will find it much easier coming to the meet or just dropping by to say hi if it's not during peak hours.
