View Full Version : What do you use your PSP for?

Aside from Pulse, I've been using my PSP more and more for the strangest things. When there is free wireless around, I use it for the Internet Radio apps the latest update brings, and I've also grown fond of using it as a music player (god forbid) and image viewer (if only for Pulse screenshots).

Now that the PSN store also allows PSOne games and PSP demos to be downloaded, I've got Jumping Flash on a Memory Stick (don't you wish this thing could take SD cards?) and Beats (worth it if you're a rythm game addict like myself).

What do you use your PSP for?

Mostly fighting games, can't wait to get Patapon though. Mp3's and music videos, I prefer to watch the Music Videos on the PSP rather than the Pc, I don't know why, it's just got a bit of a magic feeling to it.

I hardly use the psp on the wireless network though, but when I do I just download Tekken ghosts to fight against.

I think she's referring to all those strange squiggly shapes you find on your keyboard, hiding on the outskirts around the major letters. Y'know, like, the stalwart period, the versatile comma and the vaunted apostrophe?

Yeah. Those things. Pungchooayshun. They're speshul.

I wouldn't say the graphics are excellent, but good -yes.

Gameplay depends on what games you buy, as in most consoles.

Yeah, that and camping trips and such.

let me add here that if you decide to buy a PSP and put homebrew on it (homebrew being software that other people wrote, not developers) it opens up a whole world of possibilities on the PSP.

There are factors to take into consideration when doing this as your PSP may brick, but just do your homework before trying it out.

I use my psp mostly to watch anime and other videos on and sometimes play some flash games (although I have yet to find a good one.) As for games only Metal Gear Acid and LOTR-Tactics i enjoyed.

I just cant find it in me to even try homebrew on it for fear of the brick.

I sold my PSP too......honestly, I much prefer my DS. The games are just far more fun and innovative imo.
That being said, I miss GTA:VCS as it helped me through many a long train ride in Italy....

firstly, i dont know who blue ice on 'two forums ago' is, but its seems blue ice is a popular nickname. secondly, the psp seems to have much more games aimed at older gamers, as opposed to the ds and its lack of games for older users.

I'm looking at getting a PSP again because of the PS1 features. It really does appeal to me.

PSP is awesome... i pretty much use it for all the spin off games from bigger titles from ps2/3...
as for the final fantsy series...
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy & Final Fantasy Dissidia (Cant wait till they english)

U can also mod the firmware so u can put all those homebrewed software... for eg. gba and ds emulations. i love those nifty games...

id buy two psp's if i could afford it :)

Does anyone know for sure if the PSP's on sale here are the 'lite' versions? Or how you can tell? I've heard they are brilliant for modding and homebrew, don't want to end up with an old one though which is tougher, apparently.

Yes of course the "lite" (also the "slim") version is here... besides having the name on the box its thinner and lighter.

look for PSP-2000 (psp2).

I kow personally that they are awesome for modding and it was as if made for homebrewing... its just a hassel with the firmware

The easiest way to tell the difference to check out if there is an IR (infra-red) sender on the machine, if you see an IR port on the console, you know its the original PSP. The new ones don't have the infra-red capabilities.
