Hey to each their own, but I've never liked people in large fuzzy suits. The idea of doing it for fun is just.....strange.

Nobody cares if you like it or not - each to their own. To your parents, playing videogames was equally strange, I would imagine.

Strange, yes, equally strange, no. ;)

meh. Let them have their fun at least its harmless.

*EDIT* I didn't mean to come across as judgmental or bigoted, just if I found myself surrounded by that lot I would be monstrously uncomfortable. Just putting my feelings across as valueless as they may be to others *sniff*

I'm with chippit on the H-scroll. The funerla will be held tomorrow at 2pm ;_; R.I.P. old friend.

As for the furries. I see no dragotaur?

Miktar
12-08-2007, 10:13 PM
There is no dragotaur. As for a minotaurus rex... no cash to make a suit. ;..;

I think it's awesome. I'm definitely buying a suit when I have cash to blow.

Miktar, I thought you weren't into fursuits. Although I must mention Dragotaur is so much easier to say than Minotaurus Rex. :P What spurred on the change?

I'm not "into" fursuits in the way most people are, but I can't deny that having one would be cool. It's like owning a Stormtrooper outfit - it's not like I'm going to go cosplay a Stormtrooper, but I'm nerd enough to think it's cool.

Change is inevitable, Mr. Anderson.

The CSI episode had some... exaggerations. Such as the % of people in suits at your average con. And the % of females...

Oh alright. In the SCI episode, people dressed up as furry creatures, had group grooming sessions... this basically turned out to be some sort of a perverse sexual stimulation/act for some of the furries. Needless to say, the CSI team found DNA in the form of semen on one of the suits, aiding them in catching the bad guy.

It completely groused me out, making me view mascots in a slightly more negative way.

Furpile!

Eh, there's weirder. Furries don't gross me out, but they're sure fun to take the mickey (o ho!).

I saw the episode too.

Here's a hint: NEVER consider what gamers might be doing behind their keyboards while online. It might make you view keyboards in a slightly more negative way.

Yes, fursuitsex happens - I'm not going to deny that. But it's no more perverse than what your parents might have done in their youth.

What people do behind closed doors is their business, I believe.

Ever heard of: first impressions lasts?

Edit> Look, I'm not really in the mood to get into a senseless argument about opinions with you, because the few brain cells I have left, are simply not capable of competing with you, and its just way to much effort to even attempt such a thing. Thus, I'm willing to admit that my impression on furries are completely based on a half truth. Yet it will stay that way, thus making any attempt of argument senseless. Because, Why would anyone argue with someone, if they do not even attempt to listen?

Ever heard of: Don't judge a book by it's cover? ;)

Hey, I'm not getting into an argument here, I'm just giving you my side of the story. I happen to like the fandom, and I don't like seeing people create first impressions based on sensationalized tee-vee. I think it's a disservice to the fandom, and the intelligence of the people who watched the CSI episode.

Miktar

The CSI episode was based on a few core truths, but it really sensationalized it up (but thankfully, not as bad as MTV's Sex2000 did...o.o).

Yeah, you get people who make/buy fursuits and then get it on - hey, whatever gets their rocks off, don't really care.

But I happen to be friends with a lot of career fursuiters and they're really just into it for the performance.

A story:

When Anthrocon came around, I think it was 2002 (Gldm can confirm it), several fursuiters were walking through the local mall near the convention.

The mall security got ansy, approached the fursuiters and asked them to remove the heads.

The fursuiters first asked if it was necessary, and the mall security got ****y and demanding.

The fursuiters said fine, but they'll only do it in the mall security office.

When mall security asked why, they said: "Because there are children around, and it is traumatizing to them when a suiter takes their head off."

The suiters were amicable and went to the security office to take the suit off.

Oh man, suddenly I have a reason to wear a fursuit!

Except I'd wear a special balaclava that looked like vertebra covered in gore. That way when I rip the head off in front of kids at a mall I can spasm, fall over and watch the traumatising begin :)

Shamies...poor little tramatized kiddies! And then youll be the first to complain when they grow up to be tramatized adults taking their frustrations out in a serial killer sort of manner... :P

Miktar
15-08-2007, 06:20 PM
Heh.

Nah, I don't think it'll result in that - but I do think it cruel to unnecessarily subject children to traumatic experiences. They get enough in time as is.

People can't let kids just be kids - which is why they grow up into adults.

Exactly. As I a kid I would have thought that a dude in a rabbit suit ripping his own head off would have been awesome. In fact that's what I imagined happening when I saw those mascot types at malls around christmas...

I wouldn't have thought it was cruel, I'd have laughed my tiny ass off. And possibly kicked the "corpse".

Parents are more fragile than kids.

The thing is, we've left the age of the kids undefined.

You sound brazen about it now dislekcia, but kids of 3 or younger? I dare you to do it to them, and then feel good about yourself afterwards.

dislekcia
16-08-2007, 10:54 AM
Blah. It's a joke. When would I ever get the opportunity to wear a fursuit?

And if those kids were with parents and I could create the right atmosphere for the head-ripping to be funny, I would. The object isn't to terrify the kids, it would be to freak out the parents. Kids naturally scare themselves anyway, it's part of learning how the world works. Perhaps if less kids had to use their imaginations to frighten themselves, we'd have more people who weren't afraid of imagining things.
