Women age 18 or older represent a significantly greater portion of the game-playing population (31%) than boys age 17 or younger (20%).

Now that is surprising. In fact, I'd assumed teenage boys made up the majority of the game-playing market, or at least 35%.

Anyway.

Go us! It's time more women realised what tremendous fun gaming is. Better than some smelly boyfriend, that's for sure. :D

How, if so many parents are with their kids when they buy games, can there be such an outcry over kids buying games such as Manhunt or GTA? Need we ask?

Hmmm... I was going to go with Ignorant Parents for 1000 points, but that works too. :P

Fascinating stuff, although not too many surprises, especially in the age groups. Good to see the number of female gamers so high, sad to see how small the number are for computer games.

Nice to see the figures people throw around in a reputable source.

Thanks Mik...really interesting to get some real stats and know what is actually happening rather than what we percieve is happening.

A lot of those stats are quite surprising. Average age of gamers 33. I knew it wasn't teens, but mid twenties at least.

The average hours per month gamer mom and dads spend on gaming is sad. :(

Btw the first pie chart of page 5 has strategy twice.
