In the middle of this interview with rapper DMX, it becomes clear that he's never heard of Barack Obama before.
Q: Barack Obama, yeah.
A: Barack?!
Q: Barack.
A: What the **** is a Barack?! Barack Obama. Where he from, Africa?
Q: Yeah, his dad is from Kenya.
A: Barack Obama?
Q: Yeah.
A: What the ****?! That ain't no ****in' name, yo. That ain't that nigga's name. You can't be serious. Barack Obama. Get the **** outta here.
Q: You're telling me you haven't heard about him before.
A: I ain't really paying much attention.
Q: I mean, it's pretty big if a Black...
A: Wow, Barack! The nigga's name is Barack. Barack? Nigga named Barack Obama. What the ****, man?! Is he serious? That ain't his ****in' name. Ima tell this nigga when I see him, "Stop that bull****. Stop that bull****" [laughs] "That ain't your ****in' name." Your momma ain't name you no damn Barack.

Oh dear :(
Given the fact that people look up to these rappers (I can only assume, I don't really enjoy their music, nor their mentality) it does not bode well that they don't give a flying hoot about who their next president is. 'Who cares who Barack Obama is?' he'll likely care when the next president bans all rap or something :D
Moving on...
I think that anyone that looks up to "rappers" (note db how I said "rappers" as in commercial bull**** "rappers") is just as big a douch as DMX. What has become of humanity?
dammit

Hey people in this country vote all the time for or against people they dont know just cuz it is their party
^^ True, or they just close their eyes and tick a box.
I really should start playing devil's advocate on these boards again and start flinging around how metal/rock/whatever is "degrading the youth into doing stupid ****" (http://forums.tidemedia.co.za/nag/showthread.php?t=3959), but I pulled my head out my ass some time ago. That and studies are keeping me busy so yeah.
DMX is a ****** and has the lyrical depth of My Chemical Romance.

Nope.
Then you should have. They killed her because she was a metalhead.
I don't know how this applies to metal degrading the youth :/

Either the sarcasm on this board has reached an unprecedented level, or nobody gets anything anymore.
I know I don't.

Should he cast a vote, I wonder if he'll think "Deja Vous Dawg" when he looks at the ballot?

A felon, DMX can’t vote, so he’s not paying too much attention to the process.
srsly u ppl...
i think this is a lesson filled with wholesome values: if it doesn't concern you, if you can't do anything about it, or if you don't get the full story before commenting, stay the **** out.

if you think it concerns you fine, but I don't think it does; it affects you. slightly.
btw I found this funny (its from the same interview):
But it would be pretty big if we had a first Black president. That would be huge.
I mean, I guess?. What, they gon? give a dog a bone? There you go. Ooh, we have a Black president now. They should?ve done that **** a long time ago, we wouldn?t be in the ****in? position we in now. With world war coming up right now. They done ****ed this **** up then give it to the Black people, ?Here you take it. Take my mess.?
as for who I am? I'm someone who listens to rap. I listen to it coz its funny - its pretty damn hilarious that a rapper can take himself seriously considering all the bull**** that is spewed. Its also pretty damn amusing how people who can't vote get uppity about someone else's elections. :)

It's also exceedingly naïve for someone to declare that the person potentially in control of the most powerful country in the world is of no concern to the rest of us. Unless you're 12 or something, I'd suggest a little accelerated maturity might be in order, or to refrain from posting inane comments in related discussions.

First off, he might not be eligible to vote but he certainly has great influence over the choice of other votes. This makes him a voter still.
Second of all, it does concern me very much actually because if YOU follow the elections as closely as I have you will see what each of the nominee's agendas are. Some of which have a big impact on foreign policies as well as gaming laws. You are dead wrong if you think this doesnt concern us.
Next time you feel the urge to come prancing in and typing an inflammatory post, please think about what you are about to say and make sure it is accurate.

a great influence? in my experience the only people rappers influence are people who aren't yet old enough to vote. Anyways, I would prefer it if people who were influenced in their decisions by rappers didn't vote (ie follow in DMX's heels [notice the pun? lol!11]).
An inflammatory post? bull****. Flaming is all about intent.
I really don't think it affects us much whoever wins (for given definitions of affect and much, obviously). If you feel it worth your time attempting to convince me otherwise, go ahead - gimme some links. :)
and btw Azimuth, China is wayyyyy more powerful than the USA - they have them by the balls.

In any event though, if you have no opinion or dont think this affects you, dont post in the thread, rather go post in one you have knowledge about.

Ok Skeedish, honestly now, you dont think it was kind of aggressive on your part to come in and tell us all to shut the **** up because it doesnt affect us? I am all for good debate but give reasons why you say what you do. However, having said that, I dont think I need to justify why I say what happens in the USA affects us now because there have been literally millions of news articles to back this up. Also, just fyi, I consider this a huge affect on my life as alot of what I do or plan to do involves some dealings with the US. I also lived in the States for just short of 3 years.
Also, fyi. If Clinton wins, she plans on banning games from being sold to minors if it has the slightest bit of violence in it. Obama does not share this view. How this affects us? Well, it is simple, if a game gets banned in the USA where it is very likely developed or promoted, there is very little chance of these studios being able to branch out internationally with their titles. In fact the effects of having Clinton in the White House would greatly damage game sales worldwide which would lower the quality of games cuz less of the skilled individuals will be making it. Obama at least still supports the first amendment policies which give everyone freedom of speech in the media. McCain has still yet to pick a side but McCain is also the one that has been endorsed by George Bush and wants to continue this horrible war in Iraq.
You really believe we do not feel the effects of American policy? Tell that to the thousands of people who have died in Iraq lately, most of whom are not even American. What people do not realize about this war is that America hires contractors all over the world to do their dirty work. They may be the publicly seen force, but they arent the ones suffering for this. I can tell you now that I have 2 friends contracted to work in Iraq out of neccessity while another friend has just been posted there from being in the British RAF.
Dont tell me it doesnt affect us, that is a very ignorant statement to make.

sweet :D the middle of that made me lol :P
By "we" I mean the average South African ie someone who votes ANC ie someone who doesn't play games (or even have a computer), and probably doesn't know what an Obama is.
k maybe my initial post was a bit overzealous :D but I get tired of people sitting around hypocritically complaining about things they either can't or don't attempt to change. As a source of a debate which isn't going to do anything other than exercise the mind, i'm all for it though.
- I'm rather ****ed off at animal rights activists atm as i've been subjected to their propaganda about not using products which are tested on animals, yet the people putting the posters up use the products they are trying to make me feel guilty about using.
If you see the link...
Also I'd rather get excited about our own elections as the results of them are the deciding factor as to whether the results of the US elections affect us. (We relate to the US government via our own government.)
