Why the F*** is they never any dam Nintendo merchandise in South Africa. awhile ago I went to Joburg for my Uncles wedding and was expecting to buy myself a Nice game or to forr my DS (witch I got for Christmas from my uncle with FFIII). But no Can't find a stall that sells any Nintendo merchandise. no games. no cool memory card holder cartridge thingy. no case for my poor scratched DS. Now we used to have a Nintendo website for South Africa, but its gone to with its R200 games leaving me to be ripped of by other online stores. WTF!.
maby im wrong and I just didn't look hard enough ( even if so all the stall i visited should have had Nintendo stuff ). and maby the Nintendo SA website was just moved or somthing.
But still South Africans act like the wii doesn't exist, it sic.
Edit: does any one know why there is no Nintendo distribution in SA?

Because distribution is a complex and expensive process.

In his defence, he is pretty new here.
And also pretty young.
From what I understand Futronics (*the previous Nintendo SA distributor*) didn't do a good enough job to Nintendos' standards, and even with Nintendo being a pretty hard case to deal with (*apparently*) you have to agree that Futronics didn't allways do a very good job.
So now Futronics is no longer the distributor and they're looking for a new one, or they've found one, I'm not sure on that yet.
Many people believe it to be Nu Metro, especially considering the floor space they bought for the rAge expo.
That's basically it in a nutshell.
And i really really hope they launch it at RAGE

@0blivios If you live in joburg try Animeworx at the Randburg waterfront(brightwater commons).

Why there is no Nintendo distributor:
Because originally the Nintendo distributor was Futronic. Futronic cancelled their license, due to the (apparent) difficulty Nintendo was giving them. Nintendo is, apparently, a difficult company to work with and they were not willing to make concessions with regards to the Wii price.
What this means is, Futronic wanted to bring in the Wii, but the price Nintendo was giving them would have made the Wii too expensive (same price as a 360).
So Futronic cancelled.
However, Futronic also was horrible at being a Nintendo distributor and did a terrible job promoting the DS and GameCube.
There is a new Nintendo distributor on the way, but nobody knows who it is yet or when they will be around.
Oblivios, all this is on the forums, please learn to use the search function. Search for "Nintendo Distributor".

I'm gonna be frank about this - Futronic was exceptionally lazy. They wanted everything without any effort. Why I say this? - because I dealt with them several times. One can not run a company when you have nothing in place for marketing, backup support and nation wide sales reps.
One huge problem that I currently see for MI Digital (or MS) is that they think South Africa is Gauteng. SK (as much as I hate to admit it) has a good infrastructure throughout the country in most the provinces which helps with MANY aspects of their business. These days people want everything for very little effort and in this industry (in our country) it is what is frustrating myself and many gamers out there. Why is the PS3 so expensive? Well, yes, Sony made it expensive, but SK is making too much profit from... instead of concentrating on selling the software instead. I mean, I can not think of one mate that does have a PS3... not because we don't want it, but it's too expensive. Even at R6000 it's still too expensive.
The bottom line is this, the distributors in this country is and has always been quite bad, I can only hope for it to one day change. Hold thumbs for Nintendo I guess :)

"SK (as much as I hate to admit it) has a good infrastructure throughout the country in most the provinces which helps with MANY aspects of their business."
That's because they used their movie/DVD distribution channels to further their PlayStation brand, which is smart - but MS/MI don't have that infrastructure yet.
I heard that Sony is looking for a second(replacement?) PlayStation distributor...

Yup, heard that as well... after seeing the 360 and possible Nintendo games on their list things are quite scetchy at the moment...

Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease. Ster Kinekors inflated prices and Telkom like approach offend me deeply.
