Well, there's no storyline to it but it's about the lives of four high school girls and........well, I kinda can't explain much about it, you gotta see it to understand it, but it is soooooo funny

THIS IS A WARNING:
If you have not read the manga do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT! watch the Naruto shippuden OVA on animetake.
It's basically a music video but it has scenes that are extremely spoiler heavy it contains a Fight between Naruto and sasuke that has not happened in the Anime yet. Don't watch it if you don't want to have this arc spoiled for you like it has for me. :(

I watched a show called Higurashi and it's quite intense. In the beginning, it's very confusing and misleading but near the end of season 1 and at the beginning of season 2 everything makes sense at the end. Recommended for people who like psychological thrillers gory violence.

Let's see. During this holiday, I watched a bunch more.
Finished today is Angel Beats! A good anime with a surprising twist at the end. I can't see how it and Durarara!! are similar except that you delve into the characters' past. (BTW, Durarara!! is frikken AWESOME! Good story, brilliantly executed!) Angel Beats! is pretty bloody, but not in a gory way. It has its funny parts.
Highschool Of The Dead was pure awesome! I could really feel the panic that rises during a zombie apocalypse! Even though they are the slow type of zombies (not like L4D, as I was used to), the anime shows how quickly things can turn badly! I didn't read up on it yet, but I really hope the second season (if any) comes soon.
Gungrave, almost finished it. I can't believe how awesome this show is! It's a bit old, but really good! So much happens during an episode, and you think you are near the end of the story, then notice it's only at episode 6. O_O
It has a good portrayal of friendship (or something with a stronger meaning) the relationship between you and your "nakama" (One Piece focuses on this too)!
Going to finish Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood from tomorrow onwards.

Man, nothing like someone calling an anime you remember watching as it came out "old" to make someone depressed :P
I enjoyed Gungrave immensely. That is, all the episodes that didn't have sci-fi and monsters, and so on. Absolutely love the outro song, I have to say.

XD
I have to admit, I have no idea why I said it's old (probably 'cause it looked that way). It /was/ aired in 2003 so not that old. And I confess as I was watching I was amazed at the graphical detail they put in.
Yeah, once the monsters came in, didn't have that big pull on me.
Anyway, another brilliant anime is Katanagatari. All twelve episodes are an hour long. The art style of the characters takes getting used to, but the scenes and action are pure awesome! Finally an anime set in the old times, but no frikken samurai (again)! I won't spoil anything, just saying WORTH A WATCH!

I don't know if mentioning your favourite manga counts in this thread but I'll say it anyway. I'm busy reading a manga called Vagabond which is a fictional recount of the life of legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi. The artwork is so amazing! It's different to the style of normal manga but it works brilliantly with the story. Worth the read!

There is news that the bleach Anime is gonna end this year. (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-01-10/band-posts-about-bleach-last-season-deletes-mention)
I think they gonna do the same thing as Naruto and end the series for a while before bringing in a "Bleach shippuden", so to speak, instead of wasting cash on fillers.

Even Look & Listen has the complete box set so it ain't hard to find. To put it bluntly, this anime kicks your ass, taps you on the ass and tells you to get the f*** out.
Anyways just finished watching Grenadier. Pretty awesome gun fight scenes and typical airhead chick with big boobs humour are the order of the day here. And it's short too so no worries of it being shonen.
Also, there is a rumor floating about of a new Fullmetal Alchemist movie in the works. But no one has any idea what it will be based on... I just hope any and all stories behind it is false because Brotherhood imo is perfect as it is...

Anyway, another brilliant anime is Katanagatari.
It's an action show but we're going to spend 85% of the time talking in the first episode. Good lord, if the rest of the series is anything like the first episode it doesn't deserve the ratings it's gotten.
Enjoying Level E and Arakawa under the bridge, loved Kuragehime, and am really enjoying the Bakuman manga. There's also a great little gem called Wandering Son about a boy who wants to be a girl. It's not cheesey comedy but full on drama, and is handled very tastefully. The first episode was awesome, and the second episode was pretty good.
Also got around to reading the Deathnote manga, which is great for the first half and completely boring in the second.

The Anime is brilliant. It's hilarious and after the cursed Island arc the fight scenes become amazingly done (during and before that arc the fights scenes are quite Meh).
The best thing about it though... NO FILLERS!!!!

First anime series is rated pretty damn high. The remake, which follows the manga (the original series deviated early on and went on its own trip), is rated astronomically high.
The manga is a personal favorite of mine. Was genuinely sad when it ended :P
Fantastic pace, fantastic characters, fantastic action, fantastic plot.
No idea which series you got. The remake series is definitely the superior, so just hope for that.
Regardless, both are of very high caliber, so you should enjoy it no matter which you get.

The remake was cancelled.
....but it's up and running again. There are a few teaser trailers for it, I'll hunt them down now and edit them into my post.
As for the reason why the anime stopped where it did: The anime actually left out a tremendous amount of content and characters. One of these absent characters were pivotal to the climax and conclusion of that scene in the last few episodes. So... because the anime left the character out, they couldn't really continue.

^Thank god, though the Naruto manga has once again confused me as to why it's called Naruto. Out of thin air the full on Ninja War starts and is surprising gory, but it's weird because Akatsuki is just Madara, Zetsu (and his 80000 clones), Sasuke in bed and most of the killing is being done by Kabuto, who isn't even a member, but is apparently the only reason the White Zetsus aren't wiped out in no time. I mean, how in the world do you start a World War with a terrorist group with 2 members, an emo kid and a dead-raising Temp?
It's been good lately, but that's exactly why it's become such a joke because Naruto is the freaking main character yet right now he hasn't been in the story for 6 chapters (Kakashi's flash-back doesn't count) and is apparently the only person, IN THE NINJA WORLD, who doesn't even know there's a World War on.
They should call it "Ninja Wars: Episode V: Akatsuki Strikes Back"

Nope, Tenjou Tenge anime ended with that first season, followed by an OVA and a movie, but that's it.
The manga itself has finished, at a total of 22 volumes.
I've watched two OVAs. Episodes 25 and 26, essentially. What movie?
Also, GODDAMMIT!

I think the length of the series works well, even though it's a bit short, because we would have to face fillers and all that jazz if it was any longer.

The world of Ao no Exorcist consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exists within it. Satan is the god of demons, but there's one thing that he doesn't have and that's a container in the human world that is powerful enough to hold him! For that purpose, he created Okumura Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans, or will he become something else...? After killing Rin's guardian Father Fujimoto in an attempt to bring Rin back to the Demon world, it led to Rin's journey on becoming an Exorcist in order to defeat Satan.

If you enjoyed Yu Yu Hakusho, check out Hunter X Hunter, the mangaka's followup and current work (if you haven't already). I do believe it's rated higher than Yu Yu Hakusho. I really, really enjoyed it, and the anime received quite high praise. Characters are great, fights are fun, and, one of the reasons I love the series so much, is that characters you meet stay powerful throughout - rather than being powerful the first time you meet them, and then suddenly being beaten up when the character has trained up.
The anime is about... 64 eps, with two OVAs. It doesn't conclude the story, as the manga is still going, but it cuts off before the arc where issues with the mangaka affected the quality of the manga and it's release schedule. A pity, since it's one of my favorites :(
The mangaka is actually notorious for botching up his work when he gets "tired" of it. Same thing happened with Yu Yu Hakusho. He ended the entire series immediately and suddenly within a few chapters, in the middle of the story. The anime, thankfully, avoided this and actually fleshed out a proper end to the story.

Will do, Thanks Kharrak. And wow, I'm glad I watched the anime first instead of reading the manga.
Also, who else here has been watching an anime called "Freezing"? It is actually very good! It's like a combination of Ikki Tosen and Evangelion with a dash of IS. And the title for the main character "the untouchable queen" is quite possibly the coolest title ever for an anime character. Hell my sister is actually thinking of using that title as a nick.
Oh and on the topic of favourite intro and outro songs mine is from Gungrave. Can't really say why, maybe it's because it sets the mood or something. But my second fave is from FMA Brotherhood: the second last intro they used was pretty damn awesome but I feel like they should have used that intro last because the soundtrack makes it sound like a "this is it! Probably not so epic but the final episode in Berserk where Guts cuts off his own damn arm with a broken sword to save Casca from getting the old in out with Femto was pretty damn epic. I have to disagree with you there. Well, partially.
In the beginning of One Piece, the fight scenes were awesome and to the point. However, ever since Alabasta Kingdom, (more) comedy was forced during the fights and each member of the Straw Hat Crew separates to fight their own battles. Interchanging between the increasing Straw Hat member count streeeeeeetches battles out horribly like Alabasta and Enies Lobby.
The talking during battles is MUCH more evident in Bleach and Naruto...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-VrfU3t4VQ
----------------------
Anime called Toriko. (Already 2 episodes out it seems)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kocn1DfHFj0
Which was a short movie at first, as far as i can tell.
---------------------------
A show called A Channel, which reminds me of Lucky Star.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8kwqbgBHcg
-------------------------------
An Ecchi anime called Astarotte no Omocha!
Which is about a loli succubus who at a certain age has to get herself a male harem, and then needs their semen to stay young and beautiful. :p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vhcZIRWD80
----------------------------
Seikon No Qwaser Season 2 seems to be coming out too.
---------------------------
Hidan no Aria , an anime about a school that trains children to become gun blazing detectives.
---------------------------
And finally an anime called Deadman Wonderland. Which ill just paste the info of.
"A massive earthquake ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of it into the ocean. Ten years later, the story starts with Igarashi Ganta, a seemingly ordinary, unassuming middle school student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. An escapee, a survivor of the great earthquake, Ganta has no memories of the tragedy and has lived a simple, normal life. This all changes one day when a strange man covered in blood and crimson armour appears, floating, out of his classroom windows. Smirking madly, this Red Man massacres Ganta's entire class and, instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in his chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is declared the sole suspect and, following a suspiciously quick trial, is sentenced to life imprisonment in Deadman Wonderland, a massive theme-park-like prison."
Sounds interesting at least.

Holy ****, really? I didn't even know a second season was in the making.
THIS HAS MADE MY YEAR.
This goes down in history! :P
I'm watching Nijuu-Mensou no Musume. But only found 14 episodes. ;_; It's a pretty decent story!
@ Scy7he
I'm also keeping an eye on Deadman Wonderland. I've got the manga, but never bothered to read it. Till now.

Could some please put up a poll or list which contain the current best anime, preferably finished. I would really like to go through all the post but, come on most of these replies contain personal opinions not everyones general acceptance of what is the best currently. I would like to do one myself but, I don't really know all the anime.

Then why are you asking for a list from us :X
I can give you a list of the highest rated anime. As for "best", that's entirely subjective.
Descending list of highest rated anime:
#1: Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (TV series)
#2: Suzumiya Haruhi no Shou****su [The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya](Movie - Sequel, and conclusion to the Suzumiya Haruhi series)
#3: Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu [Legend of the Galactic Heroes] (Series)
#4: Rebuild of Evangelion (Series of Movies, still coming out)
#5: Cross Game (Series)
#6: Eve no Jikan Gekijouban [Time of Eve] (Movie)

Okay, so last week I decided I'm gonna go int Animeworx and decide to pick a anime box set out randomly and see if I like it. The resulting anime I picked was Chromed Shell Regios.
My lord it's a pretty sweet anime. It strangely reminds me of the story in Blazblue with almost similar characters. The fighting scenes are awesome and I tried the english language which, because it was published by Funimation and mostly the cast from D.Grayman's eng dub, is pretty darn sweet.
I'd say check it out if you have the time...

If you have decent internet, you can watch anime online for free. And I'm sure it's not illegal. Adds on the websites pay for it. As long as your just watching and not downloading.

After years of searching, I finally got a hold of the english dub of excel saga today and it's so much funnier than I remember(then again, the first time I watched it, I didn't get most of the jokes). I definitely recommend it, it's hilarious, not despite the weirdness but rather because of it
I also recently watched Bakuman, Ookami-san, Detroit Metal City and I'm currently watching Code Geass. The surprising thing about Bakuman was that it's the kind of show I wouldn't necessarily enjoy, but it was just so well done that I was sucked in. I'm also loving the Death Note vibe from Code Geass. Finally, DMC is one dirty, dirty show but damn it's funny...I think.

Nope, according to lore he is the son of Dracula. If you look at the name Dracula and Alucard:
Dracula
Alucard
Alucard is Dracula but spelled backwards. Came from some old movie by the name of The Son of Dracula.

Wow!
So I've just finished watching the first season of Supernatural The Animation Dubbed.
My goodness! Ignore anything that anyone says bad about this anime. Go buy the first box set and help support for the second season! I was especially giddy in the last 2 eps when I heard the original Dean from the Live show voices his animated counterpart just like Sam. That just goes to show that hopefully more of the original cast will hopefully make it into the second season as well.

Well thats one of the theories.
The other Origin is that he was originally Vlad the impaler but after witnessing the death of his poeple he rejected God and drank the Blood of his soldiers, thus becoming the first Vampire and he then Adopted the name of Dracula, but after he was defeated by the Hellsing Family, he became their servant and was given the name of Alucard.
I think thats what it said in wikipedia :/

Kore wa Zombie Desuka?

Started watching The World God Only Knows, My Ordinary Life and Battle Girls: Time Paradox
The World God Only Knows is about this geek who's been hired to put the souls of girls to rest, but the catch is that they must fall in love with him.
My Ordinary Life is kinda like Lucky Star and Cromartie High mixed together into one anime.
Battle Girls: Time Paradox is about this high school girl who is transported back into Sengoku Japan, the only catch is that all the warriors are female, but retain the same names as some of the legendary heroes, eg. Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu, etc.

I finished an anime called Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute), or just Ore no Imouto for short.
I enjoyed it a lot!
It has one of my favourite intro songs currently, and I love how the intro changes a bit in the middle depending on the episode (it seems the occurance of different intro's are getting more and more common ever since Bakemonogatari). Even every ending theme is different!
It's definitely a worthy comedy, and it has become one of my favourites! Quite entertaining. 8.5/10!
Oh, and the bonus episodes are also worth watching!
Anyone seen The World God Only Knows?
Yes.

So I watched Martian Successor Nadesico. While it had it's laugh out load moments at the end of the day it just felt incredibly stupid. Going to watch Those Who Hunt Elves next. I've been in the mood for some retro anime lately maybe I'll give Outlaw Star another watch too while I'm at it.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
I've only seen till episode 10 but it seems to only go up to 12.
I hope there's a second season cause that's some good ****.
:(
Did you also have the same problem with finding the (real) episode 11?

Deadman wonderland is awesome, the main character Ganta is annoying though but the series overall is pretty cool

Awesome show! Must watch! The art style reminds me of Eureka Seven...

I highly recommend Monster. It's a thrilling, long series (following very closely to the manga) about a Japanese surgeon living and working Germany, who falls into a plot involving a serial killer. I didn't reach the end, but I don't think you'll find any energy beams here, it's quite realistic and down-to-earth/grounded.

Just finished Angel beats and I absolutely loved it. The show had was funny as **** The jet engines under the seats had me in stitches and it was especially a feel good and heart tugging anime the part where Hinata tells Yui that he would marry her despite her paralysis had me on the edge of tears... and it usually takes something especially emotional to do that :(
All the characters are especially loveable and this is anime has some of the best visuals I have ever seen.
My only gripe is that some parts seemed to be rushed out. This Anime feels that it should at least be 26 episodes instead of the 13.
Overall 9/10 for me :P

Started to watch Deadman Wonderland. Goodness gracious it's an awesome anime. And yes it is strange, it does feel like watching Eureka 7 for some odd reason.
Anyway, I started to watch Gundam 00 again but this time dubbed. Now I know what everyone's thinking but it's actually really good! Like, Trigun dubbed good. It's way better than the FMA Brotherhood dubbed episodes. Most of the voice actors I don't recognise (no Steven Blum :D.... yet) and they really sound believeable!

I don't understand people's problems with dubbed anime. I've yet to hear a bad one (granted, I haven't actually watched that many) and it's really annoying hearing so many people whine about it. I don't mind subtitles, but if there's dubbed, I will always choose that.
I'm more into manga than anime lately since it's a bit hard for me to get my hands on anime. I've read all of Fairy Tail, Air Gear, Witch Hunter, The Breaker: New Waves, Aflame Inferno and Beelzebub so far (and reading new issues when they're released). Finished The Breaker and Veritas (both Korean), and probably a couple others. Busy reading Good Ending, XBlade, The World God Only Knows Sket Dance and I'm not sure what else. This is all in the last 3 months or so. I feel like such an addict. :P

I only read one chapter then got lost in Dengeki Daisy. The Breaker is good. Amazingly well drawn! And my sister loved it.

I've discovered a neat little anime called Ao no Exorcist. Watched the first episode and liked it. Will watch the rest to see if it can keep my interest.

It gets really good once the main character gets through his whole emo phase. So after about 10 chapters you'll start enjoying it more. What I love the most (besides the action) is the progression of the main character. It isn't like most mangas where the main character basically just gets stronger as it progresses. He actually grows in character.
So yeah, check it out. :P
