I just finished with the second story ark of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and all I can say is..... WTF???
It's the most deceptive series ever if you go in not knowing what to expect. The characters are so sweet and bubbly, but then all of a sudden....

'Disturbing' is the word that comes to mind. In a good way though :)

Thinking about the second story arc.... it was Shion pretending to be Mion because Mion was found dead at the bottom of the well right? Meaning that Shion was the true villain of that arc and not Mion? CONFUSION!!

Been watching some Tales of the Abyss. Seriously the best animation I've ever seen.... amazing quality (300MB in AVI format). The audio synch seems off though. The mouths just don't move naturally. Also have all the Shippuuden to watch!

I finally gave up and am going through the Naruto anime, which episodes are the filler ones? I'm up to 72 and I want to stick to the proper story line, like in the manga.

Also I'm up to season two of Pokemon (I never realized there were so many damn episodes) so only ten more seasons left (I bet the box-set costs a fortune).

I'm keeping up to date with Soul Eater, and I am finishing off Darker Than Black. Both are very cool. I just wish there was as much Ecchi in the Soul Eater anime as there is in the Soul Eater Manga. I'm looking into Air Gear next.

Okay, not anime, but Avatar is on everyday on 305 on DSTV in a 16:00pm, then repeats next day 8am loop. They are up to episode 4 already. Better than waiting for the 2 on Thursday on KTV where they cancel it for Golf all the time.

Yeah One Piece is super awesome! Eiichiro Oda is a flippin genius! I'd recommend the manga though, the anime has a habit of dragging the episodes and so, gets somewhat boring! But those sweet spots get even sweeter :D.

The list also gave me a few new sugestions, i've been looking to get a nice Shoujo/Josei for a while. I can't live on Seinen and Shonen alone. NANA or Nodame... might end up picking up both.

For those still in doubt, dubs SUCK. I played Naruto Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2 with Japanese voices and I'm now playing it again with English voices. They just don't fit at all. MAYBE Sakura's, but the rest... Oh and the acting SUCKS too. lolkakashi

Edit: I just read Cloud_Ratha's post where he said he lost interest in bleach after watching Naruto... Well, DITTO. :)

During my trip to Jo'burg to Mozambique to Jo'burg to Cape Town... I was watching... only one episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai <--- (I frikken drove my parents insane because I drilled that phrase into my head). Also the intro music for Kai, Naraku no Hana (not sure, Flower of Hell?) is in my head.

I saw at my previous post, that I was "wow" about Higurashi. I think anim? withdrawal symptoms has made me now think it's AWESOME!!! And now I crave Higurashi.

With Afro Ninja, I'm surprised an entire TV series and game were made off of a model someone made. Who sees a little figurine in a shop and decides "This guy will make a great Samurai story!". :D

Well that's what they said of the Comiccon thing on the Sony channels. I actually haven't seen any of the new shows that started on Animax.

yeah you're right,it was asort of twilight zone between chibi and normal anime, the chibi elements obviously emphasize the humor aspect, I rate this show very poorly, I picked up Gungrave from a friend, i think its mediocre. OMG, I just called an all out guns and vampires blood-bath of an anime mediocre,Im afraid Im starting to evolve from an otaku to ****-headed critic, kill me before its too late! :(

I'm confused, is the main character good or evil? Don't get me wrong I'll probably keep watching it, the 1st episode was just not what I expected. Maybe it's because I watch Naruto too much.

How? I mean, the character picks up a note book that a shinigami dropped, and hesitantly uses it. Then five days later when the Shinigami goes looking for it, he wrote a hell long list. Then I think the Shinigami is the bad guy, coming to force the book from the main character only to hear "No, it's your's. Keep it" I MEAN WTF! Then the main character explains he's going to sit and write down the names of all the criminals in 1337 style and gives anb evil laugh?

Don't get me wrong, I know the rules about the book belonging to humans and all that. But it just seems a little twisted... :(

I'm sorry if I'm being a **** here, but this just went WAY over my head... I'll just watch it again and again until I get it.

Bleach got boring when it started hitting the fillers, sure Naruto has fillers too but I don't thank as much as bleach. Coincidentally I started watching Code Geass yesterday too, and it's not too bad at all. What's with the Japanese and "Morally grey"?

the difference between naruto and bleach fillers is that most of the bleach fillers are filler arcs, so they are full story arcs that just happen to not be part of the manga.
the first one the bounto arc was pretty crap, but imo the second filler arc wasn't that bad and it had a tone similar to that of the soul soceity arc.

Sorry for the double post, but I just finished Pokemon D&P Episode 1 and there are a few 'lol' moments and observations I made:

- James sounds more like a woman than ever ala trap

- Wobuffet is actually 'useful' via blocking

- The new pokemon are CORNIER than ever

- Ash sounds... older

- and Dawn's mother has an AFRO :D

I happened to get the unedited jap version of the one Pokemon episode where they work for some old guy after crashing his boat, there was a whole bunch of stuff cut. Besides the obvious of James entering a female swimsuit contest with the biggest breasts, there were a few risque scenes of Misty, Ash's Mom (who actually won the contest) and Jessie. There's something wrong with a 12 year old girl going on about her figure. :/

I actually think the english cut made more sense, now XD

I find that they are much better in Japanese than in English.
Anime is almost always better in Jap than in English. The voice actors are usualy much better. For a fantastic example of this, watch Ninja Schroll in English and Jap.

The fillers started at episode 135-odd if I remember correctly, and they will continue until the end(220?) of Naruto series 1. Start with Naruto : Shipuuden if you want to go further in the story.

Haha , I came upon much of the same scenario while watching Sonabozu the other day - The one chick wants the main character to take her on as his pupil , and offers him sexual favours in return , according to the subtitles ( ie japanese version ). I had mkv files , so the english dub was included , and they translated it as her wanting do his laundry and housekeeping. THe english version was so lame , but i guess it can't be helped , cause funimation did the dub - bringing with it horrible childhood flashbacks of dbz :(

"I can see their parachutes" (More reporters die)
"Send in the unmanned drones" (Said when Military send in aricraft and they all get shot down)

But they lifted the censorship right after Freeza (I guess because they already allowed Gohan to call Freeza a murdering bastard) and suddenly everyone was bleeding and the characters were calling each other perverts and they actually referred to death directly and they even allowed the whole flash-back thing where Goku and the pig guy had wished for Bulmas panties which is something Censors always jump on, for main stream TV.

How is Gants? I stopped reading it because i thought the mangaka was... well, stupid (putting it nicely). I had many reasons for thinking so, DEN DAT MO'FO CAPPED EMO-WONDER, KORUNO - the only character i could bare in the entire series. Then i dropped it.

I'm currently watching Yakitake Japan - Flipping hilarious and somewhat educational. It's a wonderful testament to the beauty of the Japanese language and it's proneness to being punned. Ten episodes in and I highly recommend it.

That's what I don't get about Naruto 'filler'. Instead of expanding the plot and looking at things that haven't been looked at (ExampleGiven: most of the tails defeats), we're given bizarrae...um...fan-fictions?

From what I've heard, theworst of the lot is one where they swim across an ocean/lake, then get attacked by Water-Village guys and spend the whole episode fighting underwater despite the fact none of them can breathe.

In Shippuuden we've got this whole pink crystal thing going (what's filler without Hinata).

Yea, it looks pretty smooth got about a 2 second scene in the preview with "Roi Masutangu" - Roy Mustang, using his Flame Alchemy and it looked flipin' brilliant!

Don't watch the fillers then after those fillers they go back to Heuco Mendo for a little bit and now we in the "Turn Back the Pendulum" Arc. The only reason why they have fillers is becuase the anime catches up with the Manga, and they have to create an crappy story line to make time for the story in the manga to advance enough to create a anime series from it again.

We lucky, that it's not like D. Gray-man and just stoping the anime dead at episode 103. The manga is still going but it will be a very long time before we see D. Gray-man anime again :(

Hellsing is great, probably one of the few anime's that are just as good in English. If you into the whole Supernatural Vampire Hunting stuff... give, Vampire D, Blood+, Blood The Last Vampire and Vampire Knight [Guilty] a try.

I think it goes back to the main story in Episode 190 to 197 if I am correct, Then it's back to crappy fillers again.
