Guild Wars GW:EN Preview Weekend hype thread.

It's been 8 years since the Searing, so pack your bags we're off to the Far Shiverpeaks. Anyways, perhaps we should organise a NAG forum GW:EN weekend get together, complete with group poses and horse play or tom foolery.

I'll be playing with my E/Me echo nuker - Anaesthesia Macabre. I'm hoping to get her a new GW:EN outfit.

Dwarven boxing anyone? Be sure to unlock as many skills and heroes as possible ;)

Damn you. I will have mine tonight. I added the key a couple of days ago but showing up in pre-searing with them would be pretty daft. Actually, maybe not :).

Is there a limit to the number of times you can use the code to give you the weapons?

No. You can reuse it as many times as you want. So if you modify the weapons and want to reset them you can do that too.

I hear you, any new area and it is a solid 10-20 megs and 1000 files.

Done a bit of the brawling which is fun.

AAww! the preview weekend is over, and i must say it was alot of fun :)
i got 6 heroes that i can use when the expansion goes live.
Including the luxon Rit hero: Xandra
and the Derv hero: Kahmu

This expansion is gonna be hard! I cant wait! Nightfall was way too easy. :P
Altough my SF nuker build is screwed since the fiery destroyers are immune to burning! lol

This morning i actually saw some players with Norn armour! Holy crap! they must have played non-stop to get Norn titles high enough (slayer of heroes for armour) to be able to buy that armour! I only reached rank 3: Slayer of nightmares.
The nice thing about these ranks is that they give your character HP bonuses when your in Norn terratory.

Summary of my weekend. Explored all maps. Got Slayer of Nightmares and roughly 13k norn. Rank 2 of the Dwarven one. Only dungeon I could not complete was the one with the Remnant of Antiquity in it because he just kills you too quickly with Diamond dust and his range is too extreme.

I like the dungeons though. Especially the chests at the end. I remember doing one and got a gold and a diamond from it :D

lol. I made sure I streamed 700 megs odd on Friday night so that by saturday morning I was never going to have download any files to get into any place. I love the -image command :)

But yeah, dungeons are awesome, story so far is good and one of your heroes voice is played by the same guy as Brain(As in Pinky and the Brain). *glee*

The extras aren't like the previous GW packs -but you still get a map that shows you where the new areas are -to the north (and the south). Also on the DVD you get the two released trailers. GW's cinematic sucked, but Factions was cool -so it's a shame they haven't continued with the pre-rendered cinematics.

I still have to finish Factions and Nightfalls story (plus I haven't finished the final Titan quest in Tyria). I also need to figure out how everyone in Guild Wars seems to have a few 100K on them.

I'm going to make it a running joke that the main cast (Devona, Mhenlo, Cynn, Aidan, etc) still haven't been given a plot/story

Well, technically Mhenlo and Cynn have a story in factions (Mhenlo more so).

I also want to know how people get so much cash, I almost always have less than 10k unless I'm saving up for armour.

strange. In two days I made 20k just from missions. You do realise factions gives out ****loads of cash for missions, right? Also, most people have about 1 solo farming character that supports all others. My friend has over 100k just from mission running and selling loot. I have none but then again, I have 14 minipets. Only two of them have not been from being bought from characters in game.

I made a crapload just from normally playing GW:EN this weekend, literally doubled my bank balance. But I can't seem to make money in Factions for some reason. But in the later areas in Nightfall I could, weird.

I am hoping that the GW:EN gold will be a hell of a lot better than the gold from the other campaigns and that they don't nerf it. Gold in the game is necessary but it should not be a rare commodity type of thing like diamonds or something :s.

There was a sort of 'story' and a bios on each character

I didn't mind at first, but the fact they've been in all 3 campaigns as simple 'henchies' even though the newer 'heroes' of Nightfall got the full treatment with a continuing story, personal side quests and cut-scenes -made me wonder if Arenanet/NCsoft forgot about the original crew.

Gwen's getting the 'Hero' treatment with full-voice cut-scenes, quests and story/plot.

To be fair though, far more people have expressed more interest in Gwen (Good and bad), than the original people.

The reason for that is because Gwen was always a mysterious character in the series. There are items which are for her that were useless and always said quest item on. Eg, tapestry thread. Hopefully that will be cleared up in this game.

She does give you a tapestry to use in the Hall of Monuments, so that is slightly related.

"You look somehow familiar, did you come from the south?......I don't believe you still have that with you, so many feelings...

hmm, I did not do the quest with the character that has that so I don't remember if that dialogue popped up with me. I will have to check. I also did not have it in my inventory at the time.

I think I'm missing two 'Gwen Items'. The Preserved Red-Iris Flower and I believe a tattered cape.

Any idea where I find those?

Anyone else noticed the legions of Rats and Slimes running around the towns?

As far as I know, the only one of Gwen's items that seem to have an effect on her dialogue is the tapestry shread. The gw.gamewiki entry doesn't mention anything about it on her other items.

I never got the Gwen fascination, to me she was just a minor character until I started seeing the Gwen threads on Guru and similar places. The interest in her is like a meme.

One thing I did see that was quite funny was in the Beta she destroyed one of the settlements with a rain of fire, I saw some screens somewhere, I'll try find the link.

Those screens are real. I watched a guild dancing and then suddenly gwen appears and destroys the whole guild. O.o

Jealousy makes you nasty ;) The screen is probably edited to get all the sayings in, but a lot of people on forums mention being there.
