View Full Version : Is the "What you own" thread an e-penis?

Couldn't help but ask....
Your comments..... ;)
I have but one: HOW BIG ARE YOUR BLOODY SHELVES??! And do you guys never sell anything?
I have, like, 10 games at a time, which I then sell. I don't have time to play anything else (and it also helps me buy more new games quicker - hooray for Cash Converters!)

And for free, here's a penis joke:
Man walks into a chemist and asks: "Tell me about Viagra - can I get it over the counter?"
The chemist says "Yes, but only if you take three"
:) :) :)

and one more....
The other day I took Viagra - but it got stuck in my throat!!
I had a stiff neck for days......
:)

I hate the idea of selling my games - they're my collection, just like people collect trading cards or baseball caps or whatever. I'm not obsessed with collecting games or anything, it's just that I like to look at my bookshelf - stacked top-to-bottom with games, and think back to the good times I had playing all those games.

What can I say? I like stuff.

And, to answer your question - no, I don't think it's an e-penis thing - not for me, at least. The question "what stuff to you have?" was put forward - and I answered. Dead simple.

Ooh, I could never part with my games either. But I'm a bit of a hoarder in general, anyway.

I'm exactly the same.

Thing is I have sold some of my games in a few fits of insanity. Wish I hadn't though, I really miss some of them now.

I am damn proud of my collection; in a place where people boast about how many games they have, I take great joy in asking them how many of them are 100% legal {I have been shut up before when they say all of them ;) }

They are not all in boxes as well - I use CD wallets (I call it my primary one my Glory box :D ). The Boxes I either scrap or cut out the front cover to put in my cover art portfolio scrap book :P. The manuals sit very snuggly in two boxes that my Microsoft files came in (those blue cardboard box jobbies) - with a few of the larger ones sitting in my bookshelf.

Do you think there is such a thing as a 'good' e-penis contest?

Miktar

For those that want to treat it as an epenis contest, no doubt it will be. For those that don't, it won't be. I personally wanted an online list somewhere, that I can refer my friends to when they want to know what they can borrow - it's just easier if I say 'Go to the NAG forums and check the sticky in OffTopic', and it helps bring in a few signups too.

i think the "what i own " thread is a great idea , it took me along time to collect all those games and i very proud of my collection, i could never part with one of those games ..i still have about 40 games on 3.5 that i never even listed.( shareware rocked :)

Please don't take it away i like that thread

I think its a great idea as well-Say you own a game that you really really hate.
But like if you gave it away it would make you happy and some one offers to trade because they saw you owned it and they want it-Wouldn't that make you happy?

all your cards are layed on the table for everyone to see so theres no selling something that mabye no one wants-If someone wants it, then they PM you and make you an offer and they will be a serious buyer.

I'm also a hoarder and have only sold one game, the Sims orgional. With the ageing off cheat, the second game is better in every respect to the first one and thus there was no point to keep it.

... Not only do you admit to haveing Sims 2... you admit to haveing the original Sims also. Not even if you torture me would I admit to even playing that crap! You know it's kinda like playing with dolls... only your a grown man. Scary.

Anyway I'm also a hoarder, I even have all my cover cd's i get from Magazines... Infact I have about 200+ of just them... and then there's my game collection... about another 100+ disc's.

Epsi, the Sims 2 is a fine game. Bashing it only exposes your own silly insecurities and tremendous lack of sophistication. Get over it.

... Hey I know Sims is the most sold game in the world. I respect it. I just find it weird when adult men say they play it.

Why is that? I don't enjoy the game myself, but I don't see why it should be gender specific. Care to elaborate?

Sure... Why not... Already waaaay off topic. It's realy simple, or to me atleast. I' m not saying it's gender specifc. My brother uses the game to built houses... and he is the most manly man I know.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is Sims and playing dolls are not that far apart. And deep down you all know it.

There's nothing wrong with boys playing with dolls. Your view is warped by silly patriarchal notions of socialisation.

Besides, I'm not sure how playing with GI Joes or He-Man toys or whatever is any different to playing with dolls. It's just not called "playing with dolls" because, like, omg, only girls do that.

Please reconsider my previous statement again.

How is a GI Joe not a doll? And please explain why something has to have weapons and stuff in order to be proper for boys.

And why is it ok, for example, for girls to play with GI Joes, but not for boys to play with Barbie?

I'd hardly call 16 a grown man and HOW THE HELL do know I'm a guy. Or is that just some guess based on some stereotype?

Doll:
Made of moulded plastic - check!
Decked out with accessories - check!
Articulated, posed and subjected to imaginary situations of a child's making - check!

Action Figure:

As much as I wish to answer that question... Well I can't. See I never had dolls growing up... none of my friends did either... only this one kid that was in the hostel with me... well he grew up into a fine adult that loves fasion and shoes... and other boys.

Anyway as much as you want to fight it boys and girls are differnt, both physically and mentally. Like why don't you see so much porn for women as for men. Or get female plumbers. There is not even such a thing as men rights...

There's a huge difference between the physical/psychological differences between the genders and societal norms. All the factors you've mentioned fall in the latter category, I'm afraid.

Uh, because there's no need. Men already have rights, see. Women, on the other hand, weren't allowed to vote a century ago. Do I really need to go on?

Actually, I shan't bother. If you think playing with dolls makes you gay, you're simply not worth talking to. Bye.

Don't be so obtuse. You lose credibility by suggesting that playing with dolls makes a person gay. That's just patently ludicrous.

And I'm female. *Loving* your insinuation that I might be gay, though.

They are-but they are Dolls that reinact a different feeling/reaction/play-time-moode.

I hear what you are saying but then Barbie doesn't go around 'blowing **** up'.

I think, AZi, you need to understand that men and women are wired differently and that 'I am not a typical girl' doesn't allpy to all females.

Yes not all girls are the same. However girls, in general, have minds that follow a specific pattern of logic (as do men) and that logic varies but to an extent that logic is similar and you cannot argue against it.

I'm sick of this constant argueing that you come up with for sims-yes its a good game but thats your own opinion. You seem to think that when we critisise the game that somehow we are taking the **** out of you. No. we're not. We just don't think that creating house is cool or even natural for a man want to do when as yung as the average man is onthe forums.
The usual feeling for a man to want to settle down occurs later on life. much later then 15-25
Yes there are exclusions from that but the majoraity of men are like that.

Females go on about how men don't want to commit to a relationship-yes-we don't and thats what the sims is. An endless game that involves families.

It's the same reason why men (usually) don't put glitter in their hair. It's the same reason why woman at one stage want a child and men don't.

Yes Azi! I know you are not the typical girl! thankyou for the 50th time!

Men are from mars-Women are from venus~remember that book?
If you played barbie when you we're young and you we're male-then good for you.
I played forts and soldiers and I didn't play house. I entertained the idea of playing house and I was not interrested.
I wonder why...Oh Yes thats right I'm male and settling down at 6 was my idea of hell.
Every single one of the girls at my early schools played house. I remember because we bombed their wendy house with mud. No I know that wasn't very nice, I was 6. Boys did that.

gawd this has gone waaaaay off topic. I feel the magic lock and key coming :)

And congratulations on not reading the thread to its conclusion, and posting in the wrong place.
