Hey guys..

As I have been explaining on one of the other threads, you guys in SA are in an emerging market and if all goes well SA could be one of the most amazing places in the world in every way.

Check out this article from the BBC news web site. I used to work as a producer for THQ Wireless and we even used to work with Inidan developers as their prices are very competitive compared to European developers.

I think SA has just as good of chance as this to become a really well off country. I know alot has to happen first but chim up guys you are on the way.

Rabs, I think what you are forgetting is the actual communications providers. People have to spend too much on Airtime/contracts because of the price of the tariffs so they cannot afford to always have the latest phones.

Yes, we have a huge potential but that is marred by Vodacom, Cell C, MTN (ripoff artists of note) and I don't know what Virgin is like but yeah. This county will be great with the right people heading the way but at the moment, that is not happening. While our lovely finance minister has now reduced tax forms to two pages (god I live him right now), that is only the revenue office. The rest of the country has to follow suite. Look at the other government departments. Home affairs, traffic (just for Q-Man after his little rant on facebook a long time ago) and generally any other department. It takes forever for anything to actually happen. The backlog of paper that has to be done is crazy. My boss walked into the office of the Mayor in Bisho and everybody was sitting on their arses with their feet up on a chair. Another classical one was where they could not even read and he was in a municipal meeting. I mean, for ****'s sakes. They were holding it upside down out of pure stupidity.

We all know that Vodacom is half owned by Telkom and that explains a lot. Cell C leeches off of others and MTN just has a greedy CEO and crappy systems which are expensive to run more than likely.

The market potential is huge for this country with so much diversity and tastes because of the culture differences, but while that is a good thing, it is also what divides this country. People need to look for a common goal. Find a better way of living. Learn to live with each other and not have racism, sexism and so forth. What we need is to get a head of state who has an above average IQ, does not rape and get infected with AIDS and is sober. The country looks to their president for support no matter what and while he may be good in some respects, he has his problems. Yes, nobody is perfect, but he should try a little. Look, I will give him his due. He has done a lot for this country and with the proper people he could do anything. We could be the most powerful country. It is just the mindset of the leaders in the industries that matters.

Anyways, enough random banter from me. I should be working but have Friday syndrome. :P
