It's official now! S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel announced!
GSC Game World put the teaser website online,
for the now officially announced prequel "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky".
But it's not much to look at yet, in addition to a slideshow of
miniature screenshots, there's also a release date: 1st quarter of 2008.
Furthermore containing the already known DirectX 10 support,
but also yet unknown innovations like the X-Ray engine 1.5,
a visually improved version of the previously
used X-Ray engine of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Now the cat is out of the bag,
today GSC presented their project to the press.
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel will be called "Clear Sky"
and the story takes place one year before the events of Shadow of Chernobyl.
With this prequel, the story writers will grant us a closer look at the live of the player,
before he is off to the NPP, searching for Strelok.
Besides an improved X-Ray engine, half of the zone will have a new design.
In addition, GSC Game World puts emphasis on AI which will provide more realistic interaction.
Besides the technical aspects, gameplay functions will be changed as well,
for example the usage of the PDA and the number of factions.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky - Brandnew Screenshots!
As announced by GSC Game World in previous weekly updates,
Clear Sky will be taking place in a time before "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl",
a time when anomalies were by far more active and dangerous than in the sequel.
The visual appearance of Clear Sky will partly be affected by the previous "Chernobyl scenario",
meaning industrial compounds and scientific research facilities, on the other hand,
innovations will be introduced which, in our opinion, sound very promising -
catacombs, deserted ruins and buried palaces
from times when the Sovjet Union's best days were yet to come.
In any case, we're looking forward to the announcements of new content,
that GSC Game World will make in the coming days and weeks. Roll on 2008
