What do you consider the best LAN games to play with some buddies?
My current list:
ThreadSpace
C&C3
Supreme Commander
Ruandre
16-07-2007, 02:31 PM
Counter-Strike v1.6 and Source, The Specialists (Mod), Day Of Defeat: Source, Prey, UT2004, Quake 3 Arena, Co-op Diablo II & Lord Of Destruction with TeamSpeak. I love the Tony Hawk series on PC, especially over LAN, but no one else ever wants to play it :(

Well here is the standard game list for a regular LAN with my buddies:
-Quake III deathmatch & CTF
-CS 1.6 &/or Source
-UT2004
-Dota/Warcraft III
All above are ALWAYS played and then when we have cycled through that list we
usually play some co-op Diablo II,COD I,Starcraft . . . pretty much old school.
But I would love to play some Supreme Commander at a LAN and perhaps some Prey deathmatch as well.

AVP2 - being an alien rocks.
DOTA :(
C&C3
SupCom - nice 2 hour gaming blocs eat the day away.
SWAT4 - it is great fun to shoot your teammates with a tazer or non-lethal beanbag shotgun.

UT2004. I'm a menace with a flak cannon.
I used to play a lot of Starcraft and Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear back in the day too.

The hidden source is an excellent LAN game.
We all usually play the old buggy version but we recently discoverred the new Beta 4 a, which has a lot of new abilities for both the experiment as well as the marines.
It's awesome just for the tension it creates, being able to sneak up to a marine and pig sticking him is one of the joys of gaming everyone should experience.
I wish we'd lan more C&C 3 though, but for some reason it gets really laggy over the network, and more often then not someone gets kicked by the game.

Am I the only one that still digs MOHAA at a LAN?
UT2k4 is my game of choice though.

DoTA: (to my dismay.)
Rainbow Six: Vegas.
Alien Vs Predator.
Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction.
And I wish Supreme Commander
BLACKWOLF
16-07-2007, 07:08 PM
Call of duty 2
BF2 and BF2142(only if you are a large number)
C&C3
C&C Generals Zero Hour.
GeometriX
16-07-2007, 07:13 PM
C&C3 (infantry-only games are infinite awesomeness)
Company of Heroes ("I said hold the bridge, damnit!").
Pretty much any WCIII Tower Defence, but especially Line TW and the classic Azure. Just no DotA - ever.
D2 & LoD is also a classic, just tends to dominate the evening - not that that's always a bad thing.
And, of course, UT2K4 - packed to brim with mutators for that extra flavour.

I still enjoy a game of quake 1 (allthough, it's incredibly fast).
Otherwise, I don't get much chance to lan. I'm keen to try C&C3,
I've never been to a LAN before but if I had to choose which games I'd looove to play it would be these:
Forza
C&C3
Gears of war
The Darkness
Shadowrun
Quake 3
And maybe a RPG just to fool around and have fun with.

Nobody mentioned Natural Selection! What are you, Philistines?
Also, Monochrome has never not created a gleefully shouting crowd when played at a LAN ;)

Action Half-Life took far too many hours from my life - we used to jam it at the cyber cafe where I worked non-stop throughout the night, it was great.

> CSS
> DotA (between friends, it can be awesome) as well as a good ol' normal WarCraft III game, or tower defence
> Company of Heroes
> Rainbow Six Vegas (co-op, but good teamies are hard to come by)
> Freelancer
> Splinter Cell (any, but I haven't tried DA)
> Dark Messiah

Oooh yes! Splinter Cell rocks with the right crowd of players... I still reckon that it could be an awesome competition game if only we'd get rid of boring CS. It would totally enthrall spectators, plus smaller teams means more games for all ;)

I can't see the slow pace involved in such a stealth game that enthralling to the general gaming spectator.

The game is around suspense. Watching a spy pull off a successful sneak by the skin of his teeth is literally nail-biting. That kind of tension translates very well, especially to crowds that don't necessarily know how the game is played, meaning they can enjoy it just as much as people that appreciate exactly how hard it is to drop the crate on someone in the museum.

Are you serious ?
If so Dota is a custom map for Warcraft 3 that has gotten very popular.
I am personally not a big fan but give it a try.
All you need is Warcraft and then google Dota to download it it is free.

There's a tutorial on how to play the best game in history GTA San Andreas multiplayer. Does anyone have ever tested that?
